Hotel berhampiran Picu Pumar (528 m.), Asturias

Es un albergue privado pero a diferencia de lo habitual está impoluto, se cuida hasta el mínimo detalle. Dispone de habitaciones individuales o literas. No te dejan subir las mochilas que vienen del camino para evitar que entren insectos o suciedad, te dejan unas canastas para que eches tu ropa o cosas que necesites. Los dormitorios compartidos son muy acogedores, las camas son literas con cortinas y colchones muy cómodos. También tiene una taquilla justo al lado de la cama. Las camas tienen sábanas de tela y un nórdico. El baño está genial, aunque a mí parecer faltan WCs. El desayuno con poca variedad pero muy completo, te ofrecen infusiones o café, tostada de tomate y aceite o mantequilla y mermelada junto con macedonia de fruta. El personal muy competente y amable, sin duda un sitio en el que hosped**** si estás de paso.

Whoever built a hotel here is very courageous. There is nothing nearby. The hotel is almost at the end of a lane that leads to a small stony beach with extremely low occupation. The building is modern and quite minimalist. Although it was full during my stay, I heard no noise from other rooms nor from plumbing, extremely unusual in Spain. With no passing traffic, nights were deliciously quiet. A very good breakfast is served, which all other clients took indoors. I took the option of breakfasting in the shade in the delightful garden. There was no dinner available as they couldn’t find staff, not the first time I heard this in Asturias. There is a footpath into town, and in 15 minutes one arrives at a bar serving food. I had intended to eat there, but then discovered an out of town, easily accessible supermarket at around 8 minutes drive from the hotel. So I bought food that could be eaten cold and ate It on the beach. I did this both evenings and had a very pleasant time, with the tang of sea air, the sound of the waves and the view of the sun going down over interesting rock formations jutting out of the briny. A couple of beers on the beach before the dinner enhanced my enjoyment! So, a charming stay and a place that I would willingly return to.

Excepcional. Es precioso. Cuidan hasta el último detalle y la atención es exquisita. Un hotel precioso con un paisaje espectacular. Sent**** a leer en el porche y disfrutar de la tranquilidad… volveremos sin duda. Nos ha encantado en todos los sentidos.

The hotel as a whole is a beautiful place in a wonderful location. The first impression was great. Friendly and welcoming check-in. However, once details come up and they are not resolved, it becomes annoying. Rooms lack basic amenities like tissues, cotton buds, cotton pads, nail file (amenities that are standard in a 5 star hotel). The same room types, which cost exactly the same per night, differ in the amenities that are available in some and not in others. We have 3 rooms of the same category. For example, there is full body mirror in room 203. But a mirror in room 202. (Same room type.) There is a long full-length mirror in 203 and 103 and there is none in 202. There is also a coffee maker in 202 but not in the other 2 rooms.. these are small insignificant details. The biggest problem is not the lack of amenities but the lack of attention because there is not enough staff. It's really a ”one man show”.... In the F&B areas. At the reception... no one answers the phone when you need reception and the coffee at breakfast only comes after breakfast has already been served... feel sorry for the poor staff, they are overworked. However when you need something done in the room... you can call and call, they might apologise but no other solution is given other than a room move. Which on a holiday is not very practical. The bathroom blinds in room 202 are damaged, no one even tries to fix it. In room 203 the windows do not open (faulty) maintenance does not check the condition... only solution is a room move... it would be nice for at least a gesture of finding a solution... I hope the people in charge read this because the place is beautiful, it has a lot of potential and it would be nice if other future guests could enjoy it and not be annoyed by small details that add up and become a burden during the stay.

We have been coming to Spain for over 27 years and during this time we have stayed in some good hotels and some where we have questioned the 5 star rating. Our tour of Northern Spain concluded with 2 nights in Palacio de Luces which is possibly the best hotel we have ever stayed in across Spain. There has clearly been huge inves**ent across all areas. Our room was immaculate and the quality of furnishings surpassed many of the 5 star hotels we have stayed in. The views from the public areas are stunning,made more impressive by the floor to ceiling glass screens. We would normally dine out but having sampled the restaurant on our first night we rebooked for a second night. The food was superb and the staff all took real pride in delivering great service. Last but not least the spa area looks like it was built yesterday. It is immaculate, peaceful and a wonderful addition for guests tired after a day exploring the local towns which are very hilly! ( comfortable shoes are a must). Thank you to all the wonderful staff. Your hotel is an absolute gem which we are delighted we stumbled upon.
