Not a 4 star experience at all. The ”Irish pub” was a sterile bar that looked like it was under construction. The lobby had a powerful disinfectant smell that lingered after you left, you could practically taste it. The rooms are very tired and in need of upgrades (dirty curtains, dirty seating chair and carpet), there was hair in the shower before we used it. The A/C never cooled us down to 68F, it was muggy in the room. To top it all off, I was mid-shower when the power went off. Turns out it was a ”power test” that we were not notified of. They claimed the elevator would still work (we could hear it going up and down) but since our floor had no power it did not know to stop at our floor. I had to go down the stairs to drop off some of my bags, then try to get in the elevator and get to floor 5 so I could pick up my 82 year old mother and our heavy suitcases to get back down. When I went to check us out I asked the guy at the desk if there is anything we could do since the power went out mid shower and he said ”I didn't even know about it either. ” Nice customer service. They couldn't check us out since no power. DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU CAN HELP IT.

I am writing to share a positive experience I had with one of your staff members, Mark Sawdon. Upon departure from the hotel on August 4th, I mistakenly left behind a bag of clothes. When I called the hotel, I spoke with Mark and advised I may have left it in the room. Late that afternoon, Mark called me back to let me know that he checked the room but did not find it. I asked him to check the other rooms we had reserved as well, and the bag was not in either of the other rooms. Mark mentioned housekeeping sometimes takes left items and leaves them on their carts, returning them to lost and found the next day. Mark did not wait for the team to arrive in the morning, he went and checked each cart, and called me back again advising the bag was not there. There was a terrible rainstorm the night of our stay. It continued to rain hard as we were leaving the hotel the next morning. We had to move the car from where we started to load our luggage because there was a considerable amount of mud between the sidewalk and our parking spot, due to the construction. Spit balling, I called Mark back to let him know it was possible we left the bag outside on the sidewalk. He advised it had continued to rain and agreed to walk the perimeter of the property to look for it. He also said in a final effort he would check the dumpster; in the event someone had thrown it away. Mark called me back about an hour later to tell me that he found my bag on the sidewalk. It was full of water, so my clothes were soaking wet and dirty. There was a shirt in the bag that has significant sentimental value. Its almost 50 years old and is one of my favorite party shirts. I live out of state and was not planning to be back in Auburn Hills anytime soon, so I offered to give him my credit card info, hoping he could ship it to me. Mark said he would wash and dry my dirty wet clothes and then reach out to discuss shipping. He said that if he could not use the hotel facilities to wash them, he would take them home to do it. He went as far as to inquire about washing instructions, which was key because the sentimental shirt is rayon and can’t be dried. Within a few days, I received a Fedex box with all my clean and dry clothes and shoes. Most people would have given up or blown me off after checking the room. Most people would have avoided my calls. Most people would have never agreed to check outside the hotel and the dumpster. Most people would not have been timely in calling/emailing me with updates. Mark Sawdon is a special soul. I can only believe the universe wanted me to have my shirt back and connected me with Mark to make it happen. I am grateful my path has crossed with his. It is people like Mark who possess dedication to service, empathy and kindness that differentiate themselves from others in the service industry. You cannot train people to become Mark Sawdon’s. The next time I am within 100 miles of Auburn Hills, I will make a point of meeting him in person.

I would recommend this location again and again! The hotel is quiet and the rooms were clean and well furnished. Breakfast tasted good, contained healthy choices, and a variety of selections. Now to the hospitality, our stay was due to bereavement, but I tell you this, Mr. K.D. ensured we had a smile every interaction! He provided top tier customer service - even as we checked in at 2am after a long day of travel! Thank you to the entire staff!

I am a recent amputee. Upon losing my leg, I lost my home due to insurance regulations. I checked into the ESA -- Auburn Hills. Paul and his staff havebeen wonderful to me ever since my arrival. They have taken out trash and moved things that needed to be moved. They fulfill my every request. When I first got here, there was a lot of noise and dogs. But now, the carpets hav been cleaned and are freshened daily. EVERYTHING is sanitized regularly. If I were to have a complaint, it would be that the internet is HORRIBLE!!!! That is not the fault of the staff, but of ESA Corporate. I could write a letter, put it in an envelope and mail it and have it get to the recipient faster than the internet at this hotel. This place is entirely too expensive for crappy internet. Even if you pay the additional fee $31/month, it is very VERY slow if it comes on at all. I have spoken with corporate, who says it is a third party vendor and they are working on the issue. Again, I have been here since August. How long could it possibly take to figure out why I have no internet when the room next door has FULL signal. I like this hotel and I like the people that work here. I hate the internet and I think it is a shame for THAT to be the reason I am disatisfied with my greater than four month stay here......

Lobby clean elevator floors spotless hall ways clean, Room & bathroom immaculate, Bed comfortable. Al the desk clerk very cordial. I am an IHG member and this has got to be the most cleanest one to date I’ve stayed in and I’ve stayed in a lot This is the place to stay if you’re in the Pontiac/Detroit area!

There were 3 police cars in front when we pulled up. The desk clerk could barely speak English. The carpet on the staircase was grossly dirty. One key wouldn’t work and we gave up after 2 trips to the front desk. The bathroom sink was cracked. The bathtub was so nasty that we showered at the relatives we were visiting. A tattered list of stations was the only “TV guide.” Internet was so slow I gave up using it after 6 “timed out” messages. Chipped up doors, dirty corners and along walls. Lamp shades broken, mismatched lightbulbs, fighting in parking lot... Most disgusting place we’ve stayed in the past decade!
