Hotel Mesra Haiwan Peliharaan di Bamberg

In an old expansive palais a wonderful grand hotel close to the center. The rooms are lovely and luxurious and the restaurant was cozy and delicious. A great place to spend a weekend or more to see the area. Parking is onsite and breakfast can be served in your room, which I love.

Unkompliziert, persönlich und zugewandt wurden alle unsere Wünsche und Bedürfnisse erfüllt. Die Verpflegung war ausgezeichnet. Die Räumlichkeiten und der Sanitärbereich waren sauber und gepflegt. Wir haben uns spontan entschieden, unsere Tagung im nächsten Jahr wieder im Hotel National durchzuführen.

Our key criteria for choosing a hotel in Bamberg were: ease of road access (not desire to get caught up in the city centre traffic), safe car parking (we had our bikes on the back of the car) and an air conditioned room. The Kongresshotel met these requirements totally. English speaking reception staff were helpful and friendly and completed the checki-in process quickly. On arrival at our room we realised that the bathroom had a shower over a bath which these days is not our favourite choice - definitely prefer the safety of a walk-in shower. So we went straight back to reception to see if there were any rooms with walk-in showers. Unfortunately we were advised they did not have any. I have to admit this is might fault for not checking prior to booking! The suite was a reasonable size with a separate seating area; one settee and a one armchair. Neither were particularly comfortable but adequate for the limited time we would be on the room. The free- minibar was well stocked with soft drinks and two beers and was replenished daily - didn't expect that. The aircon worked reasonable well but I think it might have struggled if the weather had been any warmer. The room was a little tired in terms of decoration but perfectly clean. We owe an apology to the cleaning lady; the path outside the hotel (next to the river) is fine grit. Despite wiping our shoes on the entrance doormat, we clearly walked some of the grit into the lounge area of the room! So we soon learnt to take off our shoes and leave by the door. A shoe tray by the door might be a welcome addition? The breakfast buffet had plenty of choice and there were plenty of tables available....until we got to our last morning. Oh, were we in for a shock. We came down for breakfast at about 0900 expecting to see the usual near empty room only to find it was absolutely heaving with people - I guess multiple conferences on at the same time? There were even additional tables laid out in the reception area. After spending 5 minutes trying to find a table we gave up and decided to come back 45 minutes later. We did eventually get one but it was still very crowded. We did wonder at the time it there should have been a segregated area for hotel guests but I guess it's not practical to do that and could result in some tables being under utilised. While we were staying as 'tourists', this hotel makes a perfect location for meeting and conferences. Multiple large rooms available which appeared to be well kitted out (obviously we didn't go in but just looked through the door) and plenty of space to meet/chat outside of the conference rooms.

Cleanest rooms ever seen. Very friendly staff. Good location near train station and short walk to the historical centre. The only things I missed was croissants or stuff like that in the breakfast. Will come back again. For sure.

This hotel is in a great location with an easy walk to beautiful old town Bamberg. The hotel staff were all wonderful, and check-in was easy. The hotel has a small but swift lift, and opposite, an easy set of curving stairs to access when without luggage. Our room was cozy with adequate space for two people and luggage. There was no mini fridge but the front desk will happily store anything perishable in theirs. The bed was comfortable and each side had a nightstand with power outlets behind the headboard--perfect for two people to charge devices at their own bedside. There was no air conditioning but the room temperature was comfortably warm during our stay; I can imagine in summer it could be hot. The bathroom had a shower (only) and while the hot water stayed hot, the water pressure was quite low. The towels were on the thin side but large enough. There were several moldy spots on the shower ceiling and upper wall; housekeeping or maintenance needs to give that a good scrubbing. Loved the trash solution of just a cutout in the countertop to drop in tissues & such. The wall-mounted magnifying mirror was a great touch. The WiFi was strong (thank you!) & password protected. There is no parking at this hotel but there are several garages & very small open-air lots within a few minutes from the hotel. The hotel restaurant was nice, and the bar was a perfect hang on a rainy day. The staff at both were very friendly. Despite the very few issues, I would happily stay here again.

Lovely room in a 4 Star hotel. Clean room and spacious. Excellent bathroom. Beautiful lobby with a very friendly and helpful staff. This is in one of the older, historic buildings that has been extensively remodeled to modern hotel standards. I was on an upper floor but a lift is available. Excellent air conditioning made my stay very enjoyable. Reasonably priced for a luxurious room. My only ”negative: is for the relatively expensive Breakfast Buffet. Otherwise, I recommend this hotel for family and friends wholeheartedly.

Perfectly located adjacent to the Altstadt (a five minute walk) on Langestrasse, a lovely shopping street, with an old brewery across the street. Rooms are tasteful and nice sized, and it's quiet and pleasant to return to for the night. Highly recommended.

The Ibis Bamberg Altstadt hotel is in the perfect location to explore the old town of this beautiful German city. It's right next to the Hoffmann Theatre so very easy to find. We stayed here for just under a week in a room overlooking the street outside which is a main thoroughfare. It was a bit noisy at night from passers-by, but things went quiet after 11pm. We cannot blame the hotel for outside noise. Our room was lovely with all mod-cons and very well maintained. It was cleaned every day and we were given fresh towels when required. There was a large selection of items for breakfast ranging from traditional continental breakfast to bacon and eggs, cereals, yoghurt etc. There was a good selection of bread and a gluten free option was available. We really appreciated this. The staff were lovely - so friendly, cheerful and welcoming. Particular thanks to the lady who arranged gluten free rolls for my wife - we built up a really good rapport with her; she was delightful. All in all an excellent stay. We would definitely consider staying here again if visiting the area.

This hotel in central Bamberg is just an 8-minute walk from the Kaiserdom Cathedral. It offers traditional-style rooms and apartments and good transport links.The brightly furnished rooms and apartments of the Hotel Alt Bamberg include a TV, telephone, and private bathroom.The Hotel Alt Bamberg is a 10-minute walk from the Bamberg train station. The Zinkenwörth bus stop is just a 2-minute walk away.

Very functional hotel reminiscent of a UK travelodge being very clean, good comfy beds but no frills. Good wi-fi. It is located a fair walk outside of the centre but is situated very well for buses into and out of town including late night buses. Most buses finish early before 6/7pm. As we were staying 4 nights we bought a 7 day mobi-card for 2 people for €15.20 unlimited travel which is excellent value, but you have to purchase via a ticket machine as not available as an e-ticket on line. One criticism is the lack of a net curtain in bedroom, having a floor to ceiling window was like living in a goldfish bowl which could have frightened the neighbours first thing in the morning had we not been careful. The shower was good except that it could not be adjusted for height but could be hand held. Stating the hotel has a bar is a little optimistic as it consists of the hotel receptionist with beer and two bottles of wine, red or white. However I recommend you try the beer just for the sheer entertainment factor seeing it being ‘poured’. Overall we enjoyed staying at this hotel and would consider staying again as long as we remembered to pack a net curtain.
