My family & I usually stay in T*ntr*m (been our no 1. option in Semarang, Yogyakarta, and Tangerang for a while), but considering NY traffic, decided hotel next to mall as safer option, and I think Marriott Yogya will be our no 1. option in Yogyakarta now.
PRE-STAY
Staying experience actually starts the second we finished the hotel reservation, maybe its long before we even arrive at the hotel. Most dont really optimize this.
What I will highlight is Marriott really put my requests (birthday decor in specific room, connecting rooms) into the system, where everyone can check. From the one handling the WhatsApp to the receptionist the day we arrive, Ilham. And they execute my request really well.
I've experienced some that forget my request and ended up decorating the wrong room, or not facilitating the request, even though they said they will facilitate.
*see pic 8 - 11. It doesnt have to be expensive, businesses have to calculate the cost and margin. Whats important, for me, is put some effort into it. Its part of making the stay memorable.
STAY
I love it when :
- the moment we arrive, the staff helps us by opening the car door, w/ the smile and greeting. Not from just one person, but every staff did the smile and greeting.
- Ilham texted that the other room is ready. Most just rely on guest will be the one to follow up, but not Marriott.
- we asked the way to mall entrance, the staff took us to the entrance, not just directing w/ hands.
- they put anti-slip mat in shower area (pic 6), such a functional addition for safety. Because aesthetic needs to meet w/ function.
- we went out at 8.30 in the morning for culinary & coffee around Yogyakarta and put the cleaning sign on, but forget to call, just to communicate that we want the room cleaned while we're out. 2,5 hours later when we're back, those 2 rooms are neat & tidy.
Some hotels dont notice the difference those make for guest(s).
These, for me, really help building the memorable staying exp.

Tempat yang menakjubkan! Kakitangan yang mesra di sekeliling. Kakitangan disambut dengan kemesraan yang tulen dan berusaha untuk mengenali tetamu. Berada di sana selama lima bfast berturut-turut, dan menjelang akhir, kakitangan boleh melayani anda kegemaran anda kerana mereka telah mengambil berat terhadap keperluan. Tidak pernah mempunyai pengalaman seperti itu sebelum ini! Lokasi mungkin agak jauh dari kawasan utama tetapi tiada yang terlalu hebat yang tidak boleh diperbaiki dengan pengangkutan sewa persendirian. Hotel ini mempunyai banyak kemudahan yang boleh digunakan berjam-jam di sana untuk menikmati apa yang ditawarkan oleh tempat itu. Anak saya juga suka memancing di kolam! Sangat disyorkan untuk keluarga!

Merupakan pengalaman yg sangat menyenangkan menginap 1 malam di Artotel jogja pd tgl 14 oktober 2023. Pertama masuk kita sdh disambut staff hotel yg membukakan pintu di lobby. Hotel nyaman, staffnya ramah2, kamar nyaman, makanan enak, pelayanan chek in check out sangat cepat dan letak hotel yg strategis memudahkan kita untuk kemana². Banyak pertokoan dan pedagang kaki lima disekitar hotel dan dekat sekali dg tempo gelato. Pingin nginep disini lagi klo kita trip ke jogja. Terima kasih Artotel atas pelayanannya 🤩🤩🤩

NnitsreFront desk is friendly but lack care or professionalism. Waited a while without being told that the golf cart was already there. My wife slipped at the high staircase where the mat skidded because of water beneath. It was scary to imagine what could have happened. Told the front desk a, she did not care or show any concern. TV had no channels. The housekkeping restaurant staff were very very sweet but unprofessional was the pool area. No one there knew how to go all the way through to complete their job in a satisfying manner. When leaving the front desk guy did not ask if we gave deposit or id. Just waiting for us to forget. The best: bathroom, the woods, the bed, the pool, room service, resto is not bad, but pizzas sold out and NO SPA, why? for the price we paid in the holidays. This spa trick, unfortunately, many hotels play it.

MMrSenGreat hotel, good view from the room at the city. But even better (actually amazing) 360° view from the rooftop, including of course towards Merapi.
The room is good, there is a nice pool on the rooftop, as well as a good bar. No pool towels, though.
The gym is very small and has a funny triangular shape, was a bit overcrowded with only 6 people at the same time.
Only downside was the breakfast, fresh omelette was good, but some of the sweet bakery goods among the most tasteless things I've ever had.
That said, still a great hotel with a nice art focused lobby and friendly staff. Would recommend.

DDon Thusitha - AustraliaAs a memeber of Accor Hotels, I book mercure hotels in Jakartha and other countries generally. Here I stayed 2 nights in this Grand Mecure , Yog Yakartha. Firstly, this hotel is super beautiful and decorated, giving value to culture and heritage signages. Every where hotel artefacts matching with heritage Borobudur, prambanan.
Staff is very pleasant, polite, and always with a good smile, helpful, and supportive. Rooms are excellent. Special words should be placed here about breakfast . You can have multiple choices. Inluding Western, eastern, and traditional Indonesian foods and drinks. I think best break fast choices I have ever seen so far.
Restaurant staff also very nice. Bar staff memeber also very good. She somehow managed to provide food and drinks at the last moment last night. Not only that, the security team is also pleasant and helpful. Even though a bit far from Malioboro Street, staying here is fully worth it.

BBumpyOnly 2 good things about this hotel: service and breakfast spread - these are 5 stars! 👍
The rest are not up to expectations.
1. Location is far from town and airport.
2. Amenities are very old. A lot of things are spoiled and yet not replaced or repaired.
3. Because everything is old and dated, they look dirty too. Bedsheets are full of stains!
4. Water pressure of shower is very low. Take a long time to bathe.
I booked here just because the event I was going to was hosted in this hotel. Glad that I didn’t extend my stay after the event. I am sorry but I won’t recommend this hotel.
