1863 Restaurant with Rooms

Amazing tasting menu, with wine flight. We had seven courses with a few little suprises. Every course was super. The staff very attentive and knowledgeable. Nice relaxing atmosphere. Table yours all night so no rushing between courses. Also served great cocktails.

Thank you to everyone at 1863 who made our stay so fantastic. We have eaten here on previous trips to Pooley Bridge but never stayed. We booked a 2 night dinner bed and breakfast deal. We checked in after walking Place Fell, it was a freezing cold day. The room was warm and beautifully decorated, with a complimentary ginger bridge biscuit to have with your cup of coffee. Everything in the room is of a high standard, comfortable bed, dressing gowns, complimentary bathing products, fluffy towels and a hot shower. We had a 3 course meal on the first night and a 7 course taster menu on the second night. Wow, compliments to the chef. Amazing food, every course was packed with flavour and beautifully presented. I can’t do it justice describing it in a review you should come and try it for yourself. My favourites were the cod and venison dishes and that Baron Bigod on salted cracker was delicious. The pistachio frangipan and rhubarb desert was one of the best I’ve ever had. Breakfast was lovely too. The staff are so helpful and very knowledgeable with recommendations about drinks. Such a lovely restaurant with rooms. Food was excellent with great wine. The room we had was spacious and tastefully decorated with everything you need. Breakfast was great. Attentive knowledgeable staff. In a great location with lots in the area

This restaurant with rooms was the perfect choice for our hiking weekend with a treat at the end! My bedroom was very well appointed with plenty of space and a lovely bathroom. Immaculately clean (as was the whole establishment). Overall, the greeting, service and food were top notch.

Well, this place was a great find. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable, the food was superb - great cooking and great ingredients - and the whole place had a fun & happy vibe. We had the the three course meal but will try the tasting menu next time. Highly recommended.

A one night stay which included the 7 course tasting menu which was delicious! We were offered the festive treats and drink on arrival which was a lovely gesture too. Our room was cosy and had everything you need, with one small exception of a second plug next to the bed. A beautiful village ideal for walkers.
