    This is my second time to visit Yu Garden. I have always liked its exquisiteness, uniqueness, changing scenery and clever design. Yu Garden has a different flavor in the rain. It is very interesting to sit in a corridor and watch and listen to the rain. The only problem is that there are too many people and it is too crowded.

Oh, and you absolutely must try the breakfast; it's really delicious, especially the scallion pancake with egg!

This was my first trip to Shanghai with my girlfriend, and after considering many options, we finally chose Conrad Shanghai. The experience was quite good. Even with so many guest rooms, the hotel still managed to escort guests to the elevators. The service attitude was good, though there is still room for improvement—inevitable chaos due to the high occupancy and some cleanliness lapses caused by understaffing were noticeable. Still, considering the price and its unbeatable location in the World Trade Center, it is highly recommended.

The hotel’s location is very good. It is about a 5-minute walk to a huge Starbucks, Nanjing West Road, the MRT station, and Wujiang Road, which has several nice bakeries and food options. This made getting around very convenient. There was also a 7-11 just across the road. However, the Premier Two-Bedroom Suite was disappointing for the price paid. The rooms are rather small, especially the master bedroom, where there was not enough space to place or open any luggage. We had to keep our luggage in the living room instead. The bathroom, particularly the shower area, looked very dated. The tiles appeared old and there was a musty smell, which was unpleasant. Another inconvenience was that the light switches were only on one side of the bed, making it very inconvenient to switch off the lights from the other side. The kitchenette was also very small. Cutlery was stored in a drawer above the bin, which was not ideal, and there were no extra plates provided. The tiles looked old with visible cracks, and some of the drawers were faulty. Overall, the room did not feel premium and felt overpriced for what was offered. The hotel rooms clearly need a glow-up to match the Kempinski brand and the rates charged. Additionally, the reception area was undergoing renovation, with no seating or waiting area. The pick-up and drop-off driveway is very narrow, only a small lane. When loading our luggage, we had to do so very quickly as other cars were waiting. The driveway would benefit from being more spacious. While the location is excellent, the room condition, layout, and facilities did not meet expectations for a Premier suite.

We booked a family room and were later upgraded to a family balcony room with a view of Yu Garden. The night views of the Yu Garden lantern festival absolutely captivated us, so we went to see it and it was truly magnificent. The location is super convenient, close to Yu Garden station, making it easy to get to Nanjing Road, Grand Gateway, or explore Pudong. The hotel staff were very enthusiastic. Even during Chinese New Year when they were understaffed and fully booked, they actively helped us with our last-minute room change request. The hotel also organized daily entertainment activities, and we got to experience a shadow puppet show.

The room's cleanliness was average, but the various facilities inside were well-maintained and all functioned properly. All staff members were professional and enthusiastic. Due to its age, the only drawback was that showering could only be done in the bathtub, which felt a bit unsafe. Also, there's no elevator from the parking garage to the first floor, so you have to use the stairs, which isn't ideal for the elderly or disabled. The lobby of this old-school five-star hotel is still quite grand, and parking is free.

Big shout out to the housekeeping staff! The coffee machine was broken, and two of them actively helped me sort it out. Now, for the breakfast department, I have a big complaint! 😡 Because I had an early train to catch the next day, I specifically ordered a takeaway breakfast the night before. But when I got to the station, bumpy ride and all, I opened the breakfast bag and was speechless. Inside was a bruised pear, a cup of black coffee, and three identical, dry croissants! Even McDonald's knows to pack sugar and milk with coffee – do you five-star hotels not? With so many Western and Chinese options for breakfast, I only get three stale croissants? No fresh fruit? Guests are expected to eat fruit that's almost rotten?! I've stayed at many five-star hotels, and this packed breakfast quality is even worse than a Hampton Inn! 😤😠🤬

She also helped us get a room upgrade and provided complimentary snacks and fruit. The evening light show was fantastic, enjoyed by both kids and adults. When we checked out, Teresa thoughtfully prepared a small gift for the children, which we greatly appreciated!

This is our re-visit of the hotel. I don’t know why, but it just felt homey instantly (usually it will take me a night to get used to the room), it’s just comfortable with peaceful ambiance and soft lighting. The breakfast was amazing and it really helped to start our day in a pleasant way! We also had a pleasant interaction with the room-service robot who delivered bottle water to our room twice 😄 You just had to try it!!! too bad I couldn’t hug the robot 😄 I also like the Hotel’s good and combined use of technology and human service. I called from the room to ask for bottle water, and it was answered by a lady who said they will send a Robot to deliver. (In another hotel, I also made a call from the room with a small request, but it was an auto answer where you had to talk to a machine and dial the numbers when prompted, which often ended in frustration). Other than that, just one suggestion, I thought the quality of the toiletries and slippers provided could be better compared to the peer hotels, yea, especially for the slippers, they felt too synthetic compared to the slippers from the other two hotels I stayed at during this travel. Overall, great stay, pleasant experience and will revisit!

I stayed here for one night. I came here after leaving another hotel that wasn't good. I'm so glad that I came here instead. I really got such a good night's sleep. One of the hotel staff, Ekko, was extra helpful in answering my questions in English, allowing me to stay longer in the lobby while I waited for my friend and even offered me a bottle of water. He was very welcoming! The the bed is so comfortable and soft and the hotel is very clean. And the breakfast is also delicious. You also have a vending machine on the first floor that takes digital payment and a mini refrigerator in your room. There's also a smart TV with HDMI and screen mirroring. It's great value for money and it's also just a really comfortable place to stay. The interior design is really beautiful and eclectic. I think you'll have fun just hanging out in the lobby, good music playing, for a couple hours doing some work at one of the many sitting areas in the lobby, if you're a digital nomad like me. Really nice vibe!
