Ulasan Mutianyu Great Wall Hotel

The service and environment were both great. The only minor issue was that the website didn't mention needing to register our license plate in advance. There are two entrances to the Great Wall, one north and one east. If you're feeling energetic, you can hike both sections in one go. The cable car tickets for two rides almost cost as much as the room! There are also a lot of stray cats around; thoughtful people might want to bring some food for them.

Location was excellent , at the base of Mutianyu . Dinner à la carte dishes tasty . Staff responsive and helpful when we shortened our stay by a day when one person in our group fell ill . I recommend this place to first timers at Great Wall.

The location is key importance as it is very near to the Mutianyu Great Wall section. Even at the entrance to cable car near hotel, which can be very busy, it is quiet and peaceful along the corridor walkway of the hotel, so that's a plus point. Room is clean, and the toilet floor is warm up during winter. The hotel restaurant offers great dishes, I really admire the talents of their chefs. So yes, highly recommend, and if I were to return, will definitely choose to stay at Mutianyu Hotel.

We booked a family room for two adults and two children. It had its own small courtyard at the entrance and was split over two floors, with one queen-sized bed (1.5m) and one single bed (1.2m), offering ample space. The hotel itself is beautiful, and it's incredibly convenient, just a 5-minute walk to the entrance of the Great Wall. The only minor inconvenience was that only JD and SF Express could deliver directly. Unbeknownst to me, other express deliveries were sent to various collection points, but thankfully, the hotel staff helped me retrieve them all. I also want to give a special shout-out to the hotel staff who saw us struggling with luggage and young children (as our room type required navigating stairs). They went out of their way to stay and help us move our bags, which was incredibly thoughtful. We stayed for two nights, and the kids absolutely loved it, especially the outdoor playground. We even got lucky and experienced the first snow, which made the hotel look exceptionally beautiful, and the kids played for most of the day, completely engrossed. We also had dinner at the hotel restaurant and were very satisfied overall. Highly recommend!

Hotel is clean and very good size with high ceilings, location right smack to Great Wall easy travel to ski resort too.

Great stay near the Mutianyu cable car! Yummy breakfast, friendly staff, comfortable room. They helped us book our tickets.

I think we can all agree that the sole purpose of staying at this hotel is to gain immediate access to the Wall as soon as it opens in the morning. I guarantee you that this is the best way to experience the Wall without the crowds and you will have a greater chance to be able to capture shots of the Wall without anyone in your pictures. Your ticket for the Wall is included in the booking. The Hotel really is just a one nighter. I would not stay here longer as it provides the bare bones of a hotel. I would rate it three diamonds at most, not four. The room is spacious and warm, that's definitely a positive in winter. However, you do have to carry your luggage up and down the stairs when arriving and departing so beware if you have a dodgy back! There is an elevator but it only takes you from the parking lot to the lobby and not the rooms. One huge surprise for us was how delicious the dinner was at the hotel's restaurant. We were the only guests and they cooked everything from scratch for us. The breakfast (also served by the restaurant) was included in the booking and it was not quite to our taste but the staff had a cheerful disposition and were so kind and welcoming that we probably had a few more mouthfuls just to show our appreciation even if the food was not to our Western palate. Our trip was during the off peak season and the Wall opened at 8am. However, the breakfast started at 8am as well. I would recommend the breakfast be open 30 minutes before the Wall opened, otherwise guests will rush their breakfast, leading to some wasted food. The hotel advertises a transfer service from the airport but after making the booking we contacted the hotel on the Trip app and were told they do not offer this service so we had to arrange a Didi which was quite expensive, so please keep this in mind when making your booking.

Located just at the gateway to the cable car and the skylift up to Mutianyu. A lovely estate with terraces to the various sections of the hotel and restaurant. Our room was located at the very private section just above the hotel lobby. It allows us an interesting walk to the hotel restaurant for dinner and breakfast. We were given a free upgrade to a bigger room considering the low season. A nice touch. Room was spacious and comfortable. But the pillow was a little hard for my personal preference. Overall a good base to explore multiple days of Mutianyu Great Wall and comes free with super fresh morning air. I tried to take in as much as I could. Refreshing morning soak of the fresh air.

Conveniently located at the foot of the great wall. Closeby to amenities and ticket offices. Awesome warm floors with on-off control. One staff speaks good English. Can catch the sunrise and sunset views from the wall. Overall a nice experience.

The hotel is right across the entrance of the chairlift, and therefore the arrival of the toboggan slide. And 5 minutes from the cable car. Location is perfect but that also makes the place very crowded and noisy as there are thousands of visitors everyday. Breakfast buffet is from 7.30 to 9 am so pretty early but that allows you to go up the Great Wall before 8.30 which is when the crowd starts to arrive. Our room was big and the ground heater was working very well :) There's a lot of stairs in the hotel so not very good if you have any issues walking. If you ask they will help you with the luggages. If you go there by car you have to give the hotel the plate number in order for them to inform the security guard so they can let your car enter the Great Wall area.

Location, location, location!  If you are traveling with family, especially with elderlies, this is the place to stay for a relaxed visit of the Mutianyu Great Wall.  The hotel is literally next to the two lift stations (Note:  there are two ways to get up:  (1) all enclosed cable car both ways for seniors and (2) the open-air chair lift up and toboggan run down the great wall for 60 years old or under).  We tried both because we stayed at the Mutianyu Great Wall Hotel for two nights.  We visited in early November 2025, the best time to go up for us was in the afternoon around 3pm when most tourists are leaving and just before sunset, the best time to hike and enjoyed the autumn foliage with almost no crowd (morning was too cold for us).  The hotel has excellent staff, very helpful, and all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay.  The hotel's restaurant has great local dishes and the breakfast was excellent.

It's located right next to the Mutianyu Great Wall entrance. Ideal for avoiding the crowds.

Our stay at this hotel was excellent. It's ideally located within the Great Wall scenic area, boasting a comfortable and picturesque environment. As a bonus, checking in includes two complimentary entrance tickets. The rooms were spotlessly clean and tidy, and came equipped with a projector. The hotel's restaurant also impressed with its delicious, reasonably priced food and assured quality. We thoroughly enjoyed every meal! Breakfast was a delightful blend of Chinese and Western options, with a well-balanced selection of dishes. I particularly loved the small wontons with shepherd's purse filling – absolutely delicious! We'll definitely be returning!
