Just arrived home after a week at the Olympus. Have deliberated for hours about a review. I'll keep it simple. The hotel is lovely. Accommodation wise, it is one of the best we've stayed in in Spain. The lobby is well presented, the reception team are brilliant, as are the customer facing staff in the restaurant and cleaning teams who work very hard to keep the place spotless. The main bar is well stocked, a nice space to be in, and we had good interactions with staff on the few times we went. Room was a good size, we had a premium memory foam matress which was great, aircon was great..the bathroom was also a good size, clean and the shower was huge and worked well. Being picky, I would have expected 2 singles and a double for a family with children, but we made it work. The pool area is indeed small, but if its just sunbathing you want, there's two tiers so you should be fine. The pool area has great views and is well kept. The bar opens about 11am, has a good selection of drinks and does burgers and hotdogs. Some reviews said you have to pay for them. We definitely didn't. The restaurant is in the basement, but has large windows at street level so its nicely lit. Again, very clean and nicely decorated. We had a large scale continental breakfast on offer each day as well as some cooked options. They also offered fresh pancakes which were nice. All great so far. There seem to be 3 main cons. 1. The dining experience is terrible. Both lunch and dinner. Its overcrowded, the selection is limited and not of particular quality. The best bit is the grill station....but you will have died of old age by the time you get to the front of the queue..and probably find nothing left, then have to wait further, so you just give up. 2. Read the reviews. They all say it. Its very much a Spanish heavy hotel guest wise, which of course is fine, toure in Spain after all, but it means family entertainment for UK is nil. Some reviews speak of not being made to feel welcome by other guests. I wouldn't agree with that necessarily, more apathy than anything. I speak basic Spanish, but got very little in the way of replies. Just looks 🤣 3. The location is great for some, not for others. We like being away from the rowdy areas, so don't mind a quick taxi ride to where we want to go. Its a 20 min walk to old town, 10 min in a cab to the Pueblo Outdoor Market or the English Newtown *****. Dont think we paid over 10€. If you want to walk everywhere, its a nice hotel to consider. If not, go somewhere else. Its also worth pointing out that the hotel is on a narrow one way street....so coach transfers will drop you about 5/7 min walk away. I'd definitely come with my other half again, but with the kids would be a no no. A 3 rating does not do the accommodation or facilities justice, but the restaurant really pulls it down.
