Wonderful guest house! I loved it so much that I exteded my stay from 2 nights to 4 nights because I was so at home here. The location is really central, right beside Durbar Square on a pretty street with good local food places right underneath you. Durbar Square is much quiter than the other squares, especially at night, but really central and walking distance to everything including the buses. (Yes, the street is a little noisy some nights, but most of Nepal is, but with earplugs you sleep really well) The room is comfortable with everything you need with its own bathrom and there is 24 hour very hot water. The owner is always smiling and super friendly and will give you information on anything you need. I loved the breakfast and can't fault this hotel for anything. I've seen the negative reviews, but for the price you pay this hotel is good value. If you want daily sheet changes and your room cleaned then pay 10 times more. If you want a family-run homely small hotel where you can feel at home then this place is perfect. I'll be coming back here again next month with my friend.

Mountain Guesthouse is perfect. The rooms are clean and quite. Sometimes you hear the noise of the streets, but it is Nepal. You get used to it and it’s charming in some kind of way. The location is perfect, just around the corner of Durbar square, and in front of a really nice temple, where you see a lot of locals bringing their offers and doing their rituals. The owner is super kind and makes to most nice breakfast. A bit of a combination between local food, with western: really good bara, some patatoes, with toast and egg as well. Served with tea or coffee. He even got me a famous king curd when I told I love them so much!
