Barcelo is a wonderful resort! While it was my first resort, it exceeded my expectations. Location was beautiful - the resort has the beach to itself. It was not crowded. We were easily able to do all the things we wanted. Pools were great, drinks were flowing, staff was EXCEPTIONAL - we did not have one bad staff experience. The ocean tides were pretty rough, so we did not get in but I saw others do it.
The only negative would be that the food wasn't always great. The Italian place was bad and the Spanish/Steakhouse were okay. However, the poolside grill for lunches was AMAZING.
We made sure to bring our own water since the previous reviews said people were getting sick. Do remember to wear bug spray - there's small mosquitos that bite and you don't realize it to later that day.

It was an amazing stay. Only issue was that the location was a bit far from the central city (15-20min drive) but overall perfect center zone from city to nature! The people with boats on the beach were also awesome! We got a good deal to sight sea right from the resort to the islands BACK to our resort with 0 worries!

I have been to this resort before and I think it is a good all inclusive. Beautiful spot. I thought the buffet dining area could use some tips.

We spent a week here 2/10/24-2/17/24. The location was amazing, but that is where the benefits of this resort ended.
My husband got violently ill on Monday night through Tuesday. The rest of our 8 person party spent the week eating Charcoal pills, Immodium, or Tums do to GI issues also. The bathrooms in the rooms where not cleaned thoroughly often leaving residue on the toilets and the bathrooms throughout the resort were generally not working most of the time. We lost power almost daily, not for long, but still lost it. We were not impressed with the food at the reservation only restaurants or the staff, it almost seemed like we were a burden to them.
The last full day we were on resort we left our room at 12 returned at 4, when we left our room had already been cleaned by housekeeping, but there was a maintenance worker in the room next to our room which had not been occupied the whole week we were there. When we returned around 4 the safe would not let me into it and kept erroring. We called down to the front desk and they sent up a security staff member. He quickly opened the safe and asked me to make sure I could open it with the same code. I verified that I could open the safe and relock it, but did not look into it while he was in the room. 15 minutes later I opened the safe to get some cash out and realized that our cash, around $2000 was missing. We kept our money in the safe locked at all times even when we were in the room.

Such a beautiful location with a wonderful resort right on the beach. It was very clean and well maintained. The epitome of what an all inclusive resort should be. My only question what why is the swim up bar not in the adults only pool?
