Le Clos du Buis

We stayed here for 2 nights and it was perfect, extremely comfortable and a lovely family run hotel centre in the village with parking and so easy to walk everywhere and explore Bonnieux It is a very special hotel and a big Thank you to them for everything, hopefully we will be able to visit them and stay again next year as it is a perfect place to stay to explore a fascinating region of France , I really recommend it

Arrived after hiking more than 16km’s from Apt through the mountains, forests and vineyards of Provence. Pleasantly surprised by the beautiful room and bathroom. Twin beds as we are mother and son doing the hike together. Great reception and very friendly staff. Excellent location to explore the beautiful old town of Bonnieux. Highly recommended!

We had an exceptional experience stay at this very quaint and beautiful hotel. Our room was spacious, immaculate, and delightfully appointed. The staff was attentive but not intrusive. The pool was a welcome respite after a day of biking.

Excellent staff and owner. Loved our stay. The view and breakfast were great and enjoyed a few hours byv the fireplace. What a treat. The parking lot itself gave me a feeling of security that allowed me to relax knowomg the car was protected.

Everything you'd want from a small hotel. Lovely rooms with beautiful views, great breakfasts, nice gardens and pool, and friendly staff. Additional bonus of kitchen for use by guests. Highly recommended.

Lovely, comfortable large bed. Fantastic views across the Luberon from room. Great shower. Toiletries provided. Breakfast was ftesh bread, juices, fruit, coffee / tea, pastries and cereals. Lovely dining area. Beautiful pool in a delightful garden. Parking on site - free Right in the middle of Bonnieux.

We booked a visit to the Luberon, and Clos du Buis, two years ago to celebrate our 50th anniversary. Then Covid struck, and we were forced to cancel. We rebooked this year, and even after two more years of longing, our visit was better than expected. Especially Clos du Buis, which couldn't have been better. We stayed in the Luberon room, with its L-shaped terrace offering views over the pool and up to LaCoste -- a lovely accommodation. That and all the amenities made for a stunning sojourn.

Bonnieux is a medieval hilltop village in the Luberon valley of Provence. You wouldn't expect, or want, a hotel there. Some visitors pay for private accommodation in the narrow streets that wind up the hill to the pinnacle of the old church. We stayed at Le Clos du Buis. It's bed and breakfast, if you like, but so much more. We had the aptly titled Luberon room which had a terrace with views on three sides. We looked out on the garden and the pool but, crucially, across to the other side of the valley and another medieval hilltop village, Lacoste, at the top of which stands the ruined chateau of the notorious Marquis de Sade. The excesses of the 18th century libertine were such that he was banged up in the Bastille. He gave his name to the noun sadism - deriving sexual gratification from inflicting pain on others. I guess I wouldn't fancy going to any of his chateau parties. The Luberon room was, to my mind, the best in the house. Apart from the views it had a spacious walk-in shower - not always a given with accommodation in France. The basis of breakfast was a range of breads, cheeses and ham. Le Clos is at the lower end of the village, near to restaurants and a bar. One of the restaurants, L'Arome, is in the Michelin guide and features a 14th century vaulted dining area. The village is a great jumping off point, not just for the beautiful Luberon valley but for trips to the Cezanne-famed town of Aix-en-Provence and the walled city of Avignon, with its famous bridge and Palais des Papes, where in the 14th century a papacy to rival Rome was set up by dissident clerics. The Luberon, Bonnieux and Le Clos gave us a memorable holiday. My only regret is that I didn't get to meet the great John Malkovich, an actor whose calling card is subtlety and who has a house there. How cool is that? And what a lucky guy.
