Our first night we sat and dined at 'the Palapa' and had no problems however the next morning for breakfast when we found a table and sat a young lady came and told us that the next time we needed to wait for her to seat us and it felt as if we were being scolded for not knowing that.

Excellent stay. Would stay again. Beautiful beach, plenty food options.

I decided I wanted to go to Cancun, Mx, a place I hadn't been back to since 1998, for my 75th birthday. A non-stop flight from Austin had my husband and I arriving just before noon. My daughter arrived an hour or 2 later. A quick pickup by Thomas Cook travel services had us at the hotel in record time. Staff greeted us and (thankfully) our room was ready. Since I am not an owner I expected to be facing the highway but (thankfully) we had a limited ocean view (B424) that bordered another property (Breathless Cancun Soul Resort & Spa) which was quite the party scene. This is a non-smoking property and they have set up several smoking locations around the property. To my surprise 2 plastic chairs had been set up near our unit's balcony as one of the designated smoking spots! Busy area day or night! Thankfully, due to the heat, we didn't spend much time on the balcony. We did not partake of the "All Inclusive" and went to the local mercado (Chendrui) the following day. We were assigned a concierge who explained the layout of the property and the availability of two sister properties, one available by shuttle (Royal Sands) and one requiring other transportation, due to distance and, "Yes" we did the "timeshare dance" and left with 4 days of breakfast for all 3 of us at LaPalapa and a reduced rate for a dinner cruise (steak and lobster) on the ship “Columbus” for my birthday. There were daily activities (except Sunday). Shout out to Alex, Paola and Charly at the Activities Desk for their constant smiles and "whole body" involvement in whatever activities they performed. Corn Hole, Paddle Boarding, Bingo, Blackjack, Kayaking, Beach Volleyball and a wonderful ride on a small catamaran with a visitor from Canada! All for free!! Unfortunately the heat was almost unbearable, forcing you to get out early or much later in the day. The resort had two restaurants. LaPalapa served breakfast, lunch and dinner and had special menus several nights during the week in addition to their regular menu. We found the meals to be quite tasty. La Trattoria was an Italian restaurant serving dinner. There was also a Pool Bar adjacent to LaPalapa. You could order room service or order and pick up. There was daily maid service (except Sunday). We chose to put our "Do Not Disturb" sign out on days we felt we didn't need service. There was a daily resort fee of 70 pesos ($3-$5) and a laundry on site that cost about $3.50 for wash and $3.50 for dry if you had your own detergent.

Pros- The property was small and everything was close and within a quick walk. The time of year helped that it wasn't full which made it easy to get chairs by the pool and last minute restaurant reservations. Con- They have sales folks harassing you for a 90 minute talk in selling you a vacation club membership. I vacation a-lot and always dread going to Cancun for that reason. I paid my trip in full to not be bothered with using my time for anything other than my family and vacation. Hate it!

Our stay at the Royal Cancun was very enjoyable! The staff were all friendly and welcoming. Julieta Gomez was the BEST housekeeper!! She went the extra mile to make our stay clean and comfortable! We can't wait to come "home" again!!!!!!!!!

The activity director, Charly, was fantastic & helped our family have a blast at cards & bingo!!! Thank you so much Charly!!!! My niece got stung by a jellyfish & the front desk was wonderful to check on her & assist with us talking to a doctor. The front desk called several times to make sure she was ok. Our concierge, Dan, was so helpful tracking down the bandages we needed, had them delivered & paid for them since we were at dinner! ( we did pay him back but it was super thoughtful of him to pay as to not interfere with our dinner! Thanks Dan! Pedro at the swim up bar was the BEST! Always a smile on his face & super friendly! Loved him! Our daily maid service was also great! Thank you for keeping our room fresh & clean! Getting a chair at the beach/pool was easy this time of year & we enjoyed the quietness of this resort! The only thing was the swim up bar at night wasn’t kept as clean-a lot of cups blowing into the pool but really not a huge issue! Food was much better at the Royal Cancún than the Sands when we stayed a few years ago! The La Trattoria’s food was fantastic!

Food was delicious and service was excellent! I love this place. People are so attentive and ensure that you are well taken care of. Everyone is in a happy positive mood and genuinely happy to see you. I have been coming here for that past four years.

We had the BEST time with Alex, Charley & Paola !! This recreation team was amazing !! We did water aerobics everyday, bike Tour with Alex, bingo, beach volleyball Kayaking and so much more. Also get a massage !! So much to do at this resort and the recreation team keeps you busy. Always something to do.

The room and the resort are pretty old but renovated extremely clean(10+ for that!) The only thing spoiled my vacation was the air conditioner which worked So loud especially in my bedroom and the living room. Mattresses and pillows were not the best but ok. All stuff were friendly and helpful. For those who decide all inclusive, I was not happy at all. Very little variety of fruits, all drinks for an additional charge. Food in general was a very low quality. I'm sure you guys can do better. The location is great, walking distance to all amazing restaurants. I like that resort is pretty small,was more safe with the kids.

Manuel Yeh was the best waiter I’ve ever had in Cancun. He was attentive to every detail and was a pleasure to chat with at breakfast and lunch. I have owned at the Royal Resorts since 1993 and Manuel is absolutely a stand out employee! I hope the new owners appreciate him!
