I would not stay here again. The staff was friendly and helpful, but the room itself was lacking. Outdated bathroom with a bathtub that had nothing to keep you from skipping to the bathroom tile that just as slippery even with the floor towel. The room was big and clean with a nice bed but the lugging was awful. There were 2 side tanks lamps, 1 floor lamp, and a desk lamp(didn't work). Even with the 3 that worked out was still very dimly lit. The pipes in the wall sounded like they were going to bust when a another room would turn on their water. It was so loud. When I booked this room it said it was a 3 star hotel, more of a 2. Without the staff a 1. There not being an elevator to the second floor was tough. Then there were 2 sounds at night. One sounded like something cheering on wood above me, and the other was something tapping on the wall. There was an extra charge when I checked in that wasn't on the site when I booked it. This could be the hotel or this dues fault, bit sure. My rating didn't really reflect the start because of the categories.

The staff went above and beyond everyday. Location is kept very clean, and the overall accommodations are excellent. Plenty of parking, grounds kept up very nicely. Coming out to the ocean view everyday a definite perk. Next time I am on a work or personal trip I will stay again.

Very nice secluded hotel, across from Legoland (but I was there on business, didn't go). The hotel has a nice pool and everything is very clean. The on site restaurant is nice, though very expensive. We were promised a room with 2 queens the day before we arrived, but there was no record of that promise and were given a King bed room, with no other rooms available. If you don't want to walk half a mile to your room and have to take 2 different elevators to 2 different floors (very odd lay out), ask for a room closer to the main entrance. For those reasons, I gave it 4 stars. Our room did have a great view of the ocean, it was just a very long, confusing route to get back to the room after dinner.

I would avoid this hotel unless you want to risk getting massively over charged on credit card holds for incidentals. The hotel charged holds of $8,400 on my card after 3 nights where I only spent about $900 in total. While the staff that I (finally) spoke with seemed like nice people, they were not helpful. Whether its maliciousness or ineptitude, something is wrong with the way this hotel treats its customers. I would urge caution to anyone who stays here. My family and I checked in on Friday for a 8 night stay. At that time our credit card was billed for the cost of the stay, which made sense. During our first 3 days at the hotel we averaged about $300/day spent on breakfast and dinner as a family, or about $900 in total. During that time the hotel placed 3 additional holds for incidentals on our credit far for almost $8,400, nearly 10x what we spent. This is all on top of the initial charge for our room and just 3 nights into an 8 night stay. When I raised this issue with the staff it was a long process to try to get fixed. Over 10 hours after I went to the front desk to complain about this, and over 3 hours after I was told ”a manager will call you shortly” when no one ever did, I finally went to the front desk and refused to leave until I spoke with a manager. After 30 minutes of waiting someone finally came out. He attempted to explain that the $8,400 of holds they placed on my card were justified by their system. I did my best to show the math in that I had only spent about $900 and there was no scenario where holding almost 10x that amount made sense. I told them that if they kept doing this they'd max out my card by the end of our 8 night stay. In the end it was useless as they were not listening to the math. And the fact that it was almost impossible to get anyone to help with this is a poor reflection on hotel management.

The Hotel was perfect, Staff was perfect. Enjoyed our stayed. We plan on returning again but this time on a non-business trip. We did not get to eat at the restaurant so we will schedule a reservation. But overall the experience was amazing. Thank You !!!!

Check in and check out were easy with friendly staff. Nothing fancy but it was nice having the refrigerator and microwave oven in the room. There is some noticeable noise from the freeway but I stopped noticing it after a short time.

Greeted at window by creepy young Indian guy (a young couple with 2 small children live on property and run this place). I didn't have time to search for a hotel, decided on this place spur of the moment because of the location fairly close to Carlsbad Beach and near the Carlsbad downtown area (don't let the location lure you in, it is worth the drive and seeking parking to find a better hotel). I was exhausted from a recent move, my first thought was to take a warm shower. I got into the shower, which was great for the first 3 minutes, then the pipes began singing... and I was hit by this horrid stench which began shooting out the shower nozzel. I was covered with what appeared to be sewage water, backed up putrid plumbing which covered me from head to toe. I had been shampooing my hair, so this caught me between the shampoo and the conditioner -- leaving me to have to rinse off with this horrid putrid water. I tried to rationalize that this didn't happen, but after taking the shower, I opened the door to the bathroom and was hit with this horrid stench which had engulfed the bathroom. No, this was NOT a figment of my imagination... I had indeed been COVERED with sewage plumbing stench. I got sick with what appeared to be the flu so bad that I literally couldn't move out for 2 weeks. I stayed there TWO SOLID WEEKS. Three days of that two weeks, I had a similar plumbing experience in the bathroom. I stayed in Room 113, which has a raised step up to the doorway. The walls had been patched up so much that they looked like a patchwork quilt. DECADES, Maybe even a CENTURY of plumbing issues were hidden beneath the cracks in the walls that they had tried to patch up. I was walking my dog around that property and noticed that the small garden smoking seating area smelled exactly like the plumbing/sewage issues which had spewed all over me in the shower. So, not only was this possibly sewage stench, but smelled like pesticides - like Round Up pesticide. Their room key system is the credit card type thing where it clocks out. Day after day, I was having to go back to the office window to get the key updated and the wifi code/password. The young Indian guy was so rude that he would toss the key at the window box. Incredibly RUDE... the type of rude that makes you want to take on a much more stringent immigration policy in the USA. Every day after 11am, the maid would come to the door. She was nice. I asked them specifically to clean the room two days when I was leaving for the afternoon. Both times, the room was left uncleaned. I travel quite a lot, this is THE WORST motel/hotel experience that I have EVER HAD. Don't STAY HERE. There are far better places to stay. Even Motel 6 is much better! The young couple's attitude was pathetic. If you are not good with people and don't like to be in a ”service” type industry, then for heaven's sake -- don't work at or own a hotel/motel. We checked in and front desk was super friendly and made checking in easy, had a problem with toilet and front desk immediately had another room waiting for us. The rooms where clean and smelled fresh. All the basic needs. Mini fridge was cold and ready, the microwave was clean and the coffee was ready to be made will definitely stay there again
