My wife and I spent a few days at the Monte Verde Inn. We had not visited Carmel for a few years, The Monte Verde was a hotel we had not stayed at in the past. What a gem. Run by wonderful people. When we arrived I saw there was not a desk in our room. Casey the owner said he would find something, I said don’t worry I’ll make do. The next morning he arrived at our room with a folding children’s desk. It worked perfectly. He didn’t have to do that, he went above and beyond. When we checked out we found out Casey bought the desk for our situation. Wow. The hotel is so charming, our room was very clean and bright. Every morning there was a breakfast basket delivered, just enough to start the day. This is a hotel we would stay at again without question. Cannot say enough about Casey and Kate.

Wife and I enjoyed our weekend stay at Monte Verde. Located walking distance to the beach and just steps away to Ocean Ave. We had the Cal King Fireplace room, located on the first floor and next to reception but it was cozy and felt like a home. We were gently greeted with a breakfast basket every morning outside our door and enjoyed fresh coffee on the patio. Receptionists were incredibly nice and gave us great recommendations on where to eat and explore. Parking is limited but you won’t need to drive around once you secure a spot since it’s so close to all the main attractions.

It is a small recycled boutique hotel with good taste, extremely cozy at a reasonable price. It is located in the primary area of Carmel by the sea, 50 meters from Ocean Avenue and four blocks from the beach. All restaurants, shops and galleries are located at a walking distance. Extra point for the most complete breakfast basket that they bring to you in the morning and the chocolates with the sherry in your room. The price includes a parking space that are otherwise difficult to get. Special gratitude to Casey who received us very kindly and gave us invaluable directions to navigate Carmel.

I really enjoyed my one night stay at Monte Verde Inn. The staff was exceptionally helpful with info about the area - best way to get to the beach, restaurant recommendations, and even what his favorite thing on the menu was. The location is excellent, just a few steps from Ocean Ave where all the shopping and dining is. It was noisy since the windows are open (no need for AC). So that is the only downside. Ear plugs were provided for sleeping. Once it got dark, it was much less noisy. That would not keep me from staying again. There was cream sherry in the room upon check in and a breakfast basket was brought to the room around 8:00am. I would definitely stay at Monte Verde Inn again and would recommend it to others.

The hotel is charming and clean and location great (close to beach and town); however the room I stayed in was small and not recently redone as claimed—for example the older shower was difficult to use with the shower curtain and old plug and there was no air conditioning —(I finally figured out how to open the window but it did not open fully). Lastly (and what stays in my mind), the owner/manager yelled at me when he saw a corner of the bed with sand/beach soil on the sheet and a couple of spots on the chair, yelling, “we will not make money on this room”. I left shocked and never ever wanting to return—be careful.

We stayed at the Monte Verde Inn for a wedding. Our room was across the street from the main hotel, in room #5. DO NOT STAY IN ROOM 5. Top corner of the building with windows that faced the parking lot and the street. Just a few feet from the front porch where people gathered and partied until 1am. Three nights in a row. Breakfast in a basket was nice, but room was just okay. No one was on duty at night to silence the partiers.

Upon our arrival we were greeted by our friendly host Randy. He gave us an overview of the city with amazing recommendation for sights to see and places to eat. We were then escorted to our king deluxe room located next to the office. It was perfect. All ammenties, coffee anytime and the cute patio outside our door was perfect for our pre-dinner cheese and wine. Our morning lite breakfast was the perfect start to our day. The entire staff are so accommodating and friendly. The inn is in a perfect location and on flat ground. I highly recommend staying at the Monte Verde. You will not be disappointed. Thank you Randy and staff for the perfect start to our vacation.

Carmel is extraordinary, and the Inn is smack in the middle. The hotel it self is not much to speak of, offering dated pretense rather than fresh luxury. However, as others have said before me, a carmel hotel is only used twice a day - waking up and laying down. The rest of the time should be out and about! Bit those movements on the terrace as day turns to dusk turns to dark, were pricess!

This is the BEST inn I’ve ever stayed in. The entire inn is gorgeous, built in 1915, and the rooms are stunning. Clean, complimentary items and the most welcoming manager, Randy. He took so much time to carefully and meaningfully recommend sights, restaurants, etc. and made the entire stay feel incredibly special. We will definitely be back and look forward to seeing Randy and the Monte Verde Inn again, soon! 1000/10 stars from us!
