It is certainly a beautiful building in the heart of the old town which made walking around very enjoyable. The access to and daily credit for Epoca Cafe is a very nice perk. The hotel feels very secure and is a nice oasis from the busy-ness of the streets. However: The night we arrived, we were picked up by a driver our hotel arranged. We paid the driver and went into the hotel. The hotel staff member was very upset we paid the driver instead of the hotel (he had not told us to do so) and tried to make us pay again (we did not). When he finally showed us to our room, he informed us they provide two half-size water bottles per stay (not per night) and you would have to pay for additional. He left and I realized he hadn't provided the wifi password. I had to go back down to the desk to ask as it was nowhere in the room. When I got back to the room, my spouse informed me there was no water (sink or shower). I went down and the staff member seemed unsurprised but said to wait 10-15 minutes and the water would come back on. Waited 20 minutes and still no water. Went down and the staff member said the pump was broken and someone would come in the morning to fix it but there would be no water for the night. They never refused to discount or refund our stay despite having no water at all. Also, the entrance requires staff to buzz you in, which is great for security, but they were often not at the desk and you'd have to wait until someone happened by to let you in. When we were checking out, the staff member was incredibly rude, again refused to discount our night without water, and was excessively pushy about the pocket change we owed from spending over our credit at the cafe. Then he called a taxi nearby for us and the taxi to the airport cost 1/4 of what we were charged for pickup. No wonder they were upset we paid the driver. Despite the nice aspects of the hotel, I would NOT recommend staying here whatsoever.
