Hotel berhampiran Alprose Chocolate Museum, Caslano

Hôtel charmant dans un cadre ravissant. Personnel souriant et attentionné. Chambre équipée de tout le confort nécessaire, avec de surcroît un joli balcon. Très bon buffet petit-déjeuner. Une petite mésaventure m’est arrivée dans cet hôtel : j’ai malencontreusement oublié dans ma chambre une pochette contenant mes foulards favoris. Lorsque je m’en suis aperçue, j’ai pris contact avec la réception, et mes précieux foulards m’ont été promptement renvoyés. Je remercie tous les membres de l’équipe pour leur gentillesse et leur professionnalisme !

The arrival is unwelcoming and impersonal. We didn’t even get a smile, much less any information to the amenities. I was then sent on an odyssey to find the room down a confusing maze of corridors, overly decorated with scores of faux Roman busts. The room itself was a very good size but the decor faded and scratched. The carpet stained, the air con noisy. One of the chairs was broken. The style is smart late 1980’s, certainly not to current styles. There is a peculiar little kitchenette but without anything to make use of it. Not even a kettle, much less any complimentary coffee or tea which I would expect at the price. On the first night we slept on pillows that were hard like bags of flower, the second night I requested softer pillows which were provided. There isn’t a shower, merely a shower attachment in the bath and flimsy plastic cups instead of proper glasses for toothbrushes. The breakfast was included and is standard Swiss buffet, adequate but nothing special. Especially the reconstituted catering scrambled egg was disappointing. What makes this hotel, is the beautifully kept garden and well maintained pool area. But generally speaking, I feel this is quite overpriced and not good value for money.

I hardly know where to start. This is our 10th hotel in 3 weeks and it is hands down the worst. It’s just a room. And the smallest at that. Even the cruise boat we were in was nicer then this. I feel bad for my precious friend who has brought me along on her trip and everything’s been wonderful. But this room and the situation must be very disappointing for her. There’s no discounts for being misled or tricked by false advertising. The mattress is exceedingly hard and apparently we cannot have a “topper” because “we already have a bed” and in any case house keeping is not available so - no. I pray that I will be able to sleep while I’m here. The towels are old and frayed and sized for a child not an adult - plus - one per person. There’s an air conditioner but they don’t work until summer - not even just in fan setting. You can try if you want but it will stop after 10 minutes There’s a towel Warner but it’s disabled. Yep, you guessed it, it only works during winter. The door can open but the window is bolted shut and the air conditioner - while it exists as claimed - is disabled during the rest of the year and only available for use during summer so too bad if you suffer from overheating as I do. You can try it but it will just stop working (even on the fan setting) after 10-15 minutes. We paid for rooms with a view but all we get is the pipes, someone else’s yard and the train right behind us. There’s a spare door in the room - for the next door neighbours room!! Yep. Just an internal door between you. Book and come with friends but don’t expect to be on the same floor or even in cooee of them. It would make sense to put you together and allocate rooms (that are the same as each other) to guests who arrive on time / first rather then shoving people higgeldy piggeldy There are deals included with your room according to the website and booking agent but apparently they’re only “valid” for summer time The complimentary drink on arrival is a similar fiction The beautiful photos are a lie taken at night, during summer peak season when everything’s allowed and working, or from the 50% of rooms that do have a lake view. The others get the neighbouring properties back yard or in my case - the pipes No shampoo or conditioner despite this being the norm in Europe hotel rooms No kettle with complimentary basic tea or coffee - the Mini bar is only a bottle of water. The old heater also has exposed pipes in the room. Not that I should worry I guess coz it’s not winter so it’s not working. There was no guidance from reception as to where we might be able to get a meal - except to tell us that the promotes deal was not applicable to us because it’s not summer time. According to the website we qualified given we booked to stay for more then 2 nights. And no advice that we aren’t actually in Lugano and that we had to walk a good 20-minutes to find some food. A luxury hotel with an ancient style, good maintenance in a public area, we stayed in the ancient building, a clean room but furniture needs updating. Breakfast is a wonderful meal but without vegetables, very limited for such a luxury hotel, the staff is great, we had dinner not so special for the prices.

Very good staff and facilities. A relaxing experience by Lake Lugano. They really pay attention to details (in our case, a surprise bday cake). They even have a transfer service to Lugano center. A 15 minutes drive to the outlet stores in Mendrisio.

Nice and modern hotel in good location with great views over the Lago di Lugano. The staff was professional, experienced and super friendly. Breakfast was always good with plenty of choice. We'll definitely stay again at Grand Hotel Campione!

Die Lage ist ausgezeichnet, nur wenige Meter von der Uferstrasse entfernt. Der (Sportboot-) Hafen ist nur 200 Meter entfernt, sodass man am Ufer des Sees bis zum anderen Ende des Ortes laufen kann, um dort die Fähre zu nehmen. Geführt wird das Hotel von zwei geschäftstüchtigen Damen, die mir für die Einzelbenutzung eines Dreibettzimmers 140 Euro abknöpften, was sich als deutlich zu viel entpuppte. Bei offenen Fenstern ist an Schlaf leider kaum zu denken, weil in ca. 30 Meter Entfernung die Güterzüge vorbeischeppern, wenn man das Zimmer zur falschen Seite hat. Das Bad war neu gemacht, schöne Fliesen und eine moderne Dusche. Kleinigkeiten, z. B., dass der Wasserhahn viel zu dicht am Waschbecken ist und man kaum die Hand darunter bekommt, mag man noch dem italienischen Charme zuordnen. Was mich allerdings geärgert hat: Bei Anlehnen an den Türrahmen klebte ich mit meinem Hemd an der Dichtungsmasse fest, die sich nicht mehr vom Hemd entfernen ließ. Schön hingegen der Garten mit dem Pool, auch wenn er ab Mitte September etwas kühl ist. Das Frühstück ist italienisch. Davon sollte man also nicht viel erwarten. Einen ordentlichen Cappuccino gab es leider nicht. Cerealien natürlich auch nicht. Die Räume sind allerdings liebevoll gestaltet. Tipp: Das große Auto daheim lassen. Wenden auf dem Parkplatz geht nicht, die Einfahrt ist schmal (und aus scharfkantigem Stein) und die Straße, auf die rückwärts ausgefahren muss, ist ebenfalls sehr eng. Ich werde nicht noch einmal dorthin gehen.

Splendida location, molto suggestiva e con vista mozzafiato. Le stanze sono comode, silenziose e spaziose, nonché estremamente pulite. La colazione è eccellente, dotata sia di numerose opzioni dolci che di altrettante alternative salate. Piccolo dettaglio molto apprezzato: un sacchetto di biscottini di benvenuto per il mio cagnolino, il quale peraltro ha particolarmente apprezzato. In poche parole: hotel consigliatissimo!
