Pension Gardena is a restored older building, very clean and quiet. Manager Iva is very helpful and friendly. If you arrive in Cesky Krumlov by bus from Prague or elsewhere (as I did), it is less than a ten-minute walk on a paved path from the main bus station. It is virtually across the street from the bridge leading into the old town. Cesky Krumlov is full of hotels and pensions, but you would not want to pull roll-on luggage over its cobblestone streets and sidewalks. I was glad to have found Pension Gardena recommended by a popular guidebook. My pension room was a bit small (probably too small for two people) with a small table and chair. Bathroom and shower were also small but adequate. Breakfast was similarly adequate--not extensive, but with enough cereal, cheese, meat, bread, jam, juice, coffee, and tea varieties to satisfy most guests. Dining area was spacious though a bit dark. I stayed in the newer (also restored) annex across the street. Rooms in the original (where the dining room and check-in desk are located) are up steep stairs, no elevator. Annex also has no elevator. Annex has a nice seating area in the garden in back, but who comes to Cesky Krumlov to sit in the garden? I would go to Pension Gardena again.
