The hotel is dated and the floorboards creak everywhere. Feels I bit like and old persons nursing home. But the staff were excellent, every single one of them. Stayed in a double suite… nice enough but that ain’t not suite. We had supper in the Lakeside restaurant on site which was good and reasonably priced but it was cold in the room and the food took ages to arrive… even though I only had a Caesar Salad !! Anyway, we decided not to bother with breakfast but check out as well as check in was faultless. The Spa / leisure club were quite simply dismal. The pool was Arctic cold, changing rooms “snug” and loungers awful.

Great place to stay, the most comfortable beds, fluffy pillows and lovely cosy atmosphere. Super breakfast, fresh bread and croissants. Perfect distance for the shops/restaurants etc. Very quiet area and reception staff are really helpful. Highly recommendable.

We stayed at Portland Apartments for the weekend with our young daughter. The apartment was lovely and spacious, clean and well equiped. They even put some things in the fridge for breakfast which was a lovely touch. The lady who worked there was lovely and also recommended some restaurants to us. They also agreed to let us have an early check in as my partner had a work call to take. Would highly recommend staying here. Location was also great!

The restaurant is stylish and the food is very good. The room was quiet and comfortable.

This was by far the cheapest accommodation available on Hotels.com for the day of my visit to Cheltenham. Cheaper even than the local inns and well-known chain hotels. So I'm confused by the many negative reviews for the place from people expecting steak at burger prices. Yes, there are negatives. The room carpet sported several large stains of dubious origin, but that's perhaps inevitable when the breakfast is self-service and in-room. The wardrobe door handle came off, but was still usable. The electric shower sounded like a jet engine; could be a problem for some. Into nitpicking territory, the tv was small, relative to the size of the room. Guest parking is minimal, and Pittville Circus has double-yellows. Yes, there are positives. The room and bed were comfortable and warm. There's a bath and a shower; rooms in the budget price bracket don't often have both. Plenty of clean, matching towels and the usual toiletries. As well as the requisite tea/coffee/biscuits, there's also a cupboard containing a fridge, microwave, cutlery/crockery and enough cereal, pastries, juice, yogurts, tinned and fresh fruit to easily feed two at breakfast. The building retains many original architectural features. The place lands somewhere between an old-school seaside lodging house and Mr Bean's bedsit. Secure building/room access is via a code provided upon booking confirmation. I'd stay again. It's somewhere to sleep and at around £50 for the night, you shouldn't expect more than that.

We booked a hotel for one night. The initial price seemed quite good, but it was quite annoying to find out that there was a lack of transparency. They didn’t mention that the car park had an extra charge of £7. Additionally, on Trip.com, breakfast was available for an extra £14, and it was stated that kids under four years old eat for free. When the receptionist asked if we wanted breakfast, we said we would decide in the morning, and she didn’t mention anything further. However, we found out in the morning that breakfast cost £16. Had we decided the night before, it would have been £13, but they also asked for an additional £5 for the kids. Furthermore, the receptionist wasn’t very friendly. Also swimming pool was closed.
