Bad service, room is old. Someone tried to get into my room twice. Wall is thin. Can’t sleep at all

This place was recommended by a friend who stays at Boat Club and I read reviews in Google, Tripadvisor and Aggregator sites.   We booked 2 rooms for 2N/3D stay at Crowne Plaza, Adyar, Chennai through an aggregator site. I called up the hotel to check on our reservation confirmation, but we were told that only one room is booked and they do not have second room confirmation. I called up the support team of aggregator and they confirmed it is 2 rooms and they called up the hotel and shared us an email confirmation. Later I called up the reservation desk and understood that 2 rooms are booked and it’s a confirmed reservation.   Our Check-in experience was good and the staff were courteous and quick.   We were allotted two rooms in old block at Floor number 14 (Room No 1403 and 1405). For a moment I recollected the online reviews I read and the pictures I saw about this hotel weren’t in the same. I thought I will revisit the reviews online and double check If I had made any mistakes in booking wrong hotel. I also called up my friend and told my experience isn’t great and the rooms are looking OLD and the plumbing systems inside the wash room and room telephony isn’t working well. I invited the hotel Duty Manager (Mr.Josua) and showed him the plumbing system inside the wash room and asked him just because the I happened to book from an aggregator site and got attractive deals, we were given a poor looking rooms? Or is this a standard rooms that they offer for all type of bookings. (we discussed this after experiencing our stay in poor and old looking rooms for 1 night).  Mr.Josua said the rooms in this floors are due for renovation and they would allot us rooms from new block. I told I would like to see the room before we move in. Mr.Murali took us to the new rooms and I could match the room pictures as posted in review sites. I told Murali and Josua, it is outrageous that they allotted old rooms to gullible guests. We moved into new rooms in Floor 25 (in new block)   The breakfast was awesome and service host (I think his name is Jibin).

Everything was nice except the swimming pool on the ground floor. It should be on the roof top ***** with some tubes for those whose doesn't know swimming

Our stay last week at Crowne Plaza (Adyar) was by far the best in the many years we have travelled as a family or even solo. Over and above the well thought amenities that Crowne Plaza generally provides, we were more than pleasantly surprised to experience the customer centricity of the staff… a very rare thing to witness in the post pandemic world. This is a great example of how an entire team comes together like a well knitted unit to provide guests an exemplary experience - the staff and crew's usual goes beyond the norm, they walk, run and gallop that extra mile, and leave you feeling like you are literally in a home away from home… Great place to stay in as a family with kids and elderly, or even important business trips. All the people we met were extremely kind, considerate and strikingly professional and efficient at the same time. Not a single request went without brilliant execution… What enviable energy! Food was great, and Team Cappacino's personalised service was heart-warming and too hard to pass. The breakfast spread was just perfect, well thought and inclusive in spirit for a largely overseas crowd. Housekeeping was accommodating, proactive, well done and flexible. Front desk and every restaurant team made every possible effort to stay connected and give us all a seamless, friendly experience. This is a place were the hotel staff are so staunchly committed to the highest grades of quality and redefining hospitality… they care, they really care - you can tell easily on the very first day or even the last. I am so very grateful for all the unexpected support they extended, especially when my mother fell ill mid way. Here's a big, heartfelt thank you to all the lovely, inspiring people at Crowne Plaza Adyar. And a promise that we are definitely coming back again! Upset, that this institution of Madras and Chennai closed so unceremoniously. A thanks to the wonderful team there who looked after this on those final days. The wonderful concierge team get a beyond special mention. Mr Balaji whose effervescent face and smile made my day and the rest of the team whose names I am unable to remember. The security staff. The reception team. A shout out to Aditi Sen, Monish, Sakshi just to name a few. Happy memories have come to a close with the closure of Crowne Plaza, Park Sheraton, Holiday Inn, Adyar Gate. The many incarnations of which I have visited since it opened in 1981. Fare well to the team. I hope to see you all again elsewhere on my travels.

Classic hotel. Best service. Centrally located. Thank you Mr. Satish and Mr. Ramkishan. Staff is polite and helpful. Unfortunately they are closing down. Wish I had the option of visiting and revisiting the hotel.

Reading the other reviews we must have visited when the main staff was on vacation. The experience was not great from start to finish, mostly due to the front desk staff being not very helpful. They just didn’t seem to have their act together and we had to repeat requests. I’m also glad others enjoyed Cappuccino because once again we had a less than stellar experience. Other than Sushmita, the waitstaff didn’t really check up on us. The shining jewel in the otherwise dull crown were the porters. They remembered all our room numbers and were eager to serve and always with a smile.
