The Commercial Bar & Hotel

I love the Commercial, great atmosphere and vibe. But PLEASE, PLEASE, the money you must make sort out the toilets!!! The women’s toilets were an absolute disgrace. The three cubicles you have all toilet seats were broken, every door lock was broken the floors were disgusting and only toilet roll in one. This was not late on in the evening either 9:30pm we left about an hour later as it put me off going to the toilet. I asked the toilet attendant in the male toilets for some toilet roll and basically he was not cooperative. I would have thought a member of staff would be rota’d in throughout the night to keep them relatively clean, at least top up the toilet roll. The capacity of people to the 3 toilets you have they should be checked upon regularly and maintained and fixed accordingly when closed. So yes I’d recommend the venue for a night out, but the toilet comment will always follow.

Perfect size double deluxe room with fridge 👌 ideal location for shops bars and places to visit it was brilliant The staff were helpful and the owner was welcoming I will definitely recommend this place and a great music 🎶 on the evening 😀 Food is also on point I don't have Any negative comments to add everything was perfect and I look forward to return again soon 😀

Popped in last week as me and my family had the day out in Chester, lovely bar and lovely staff. However considering the bar wasn’t busy they had the music blaring to the point we couldn’t hear each other speak. My mum is now 87 and struggled up the stairs not sure if there was a way in that had disability access but overall a lovely place to drink

Seriously bad place to stay. 1. There’s “noise” and there’s “NOISE” We were told that there was a “bar downstairs”.. but this was a full on 3 in the morning, Noise fest.. it was like sleeping IN a nightclub. Nobody would expect this level of noise. 2. Freezing cold.. no heating. They gave us a very ineffectual heater, but that didn’t heat the bathroom. We couldn’t use the shower, because the room was too cold 3. The bed was very lumpy. Very uncomfortable. Didn’t sleep.. even AFTER 3 in the morning 4. No welcome. The atmosphere of the bar was non existent. The guy who met us was friendly enough but the business has NO idea how to run a hotel. 5. Shame on you *********** allowing this place to be on your books. You’re just protecting each other from your responsibilities

Good bedrooms and bathrooms. Centrally located. But staff were so poor. Barman non-interested and 1 rude owner. Couldn't get a drink late at night because of private function with 10 people! Then threatened to throw us and our bikes out at 10pm. Manager let himself and guests down. They need to up their staffs attitude to *********** guests..

Stayed for 1 night with my wife. After booking and paying prior to visit, I received a call to say that the hotel policy is to take £65 "deposit" to cover any damages. I vigorously complained and was waived. I also received an email the day before, to say that if we wanted breakfast, it would be £10 pp. I advised that the booking was for b&b, which the hotel denied, only when I stated they had emailed me to confirm breakfast was included, did they amend the booking. The hotel needs tidying up and a paint job. The room was huge, pleasantly surprised, bathroom had twin sinks, a bath and a separate spa/power shower which was fantastic. However, the noise from the bar was extremely loud, the people in the room above were banging furniture about till the small hours, then as woken up at 5.30 am, to the very loud sounds of pressure washers, looked out of the window to see workmen, this went on until we checked out. The hotel management were apologetic, as the work was being carried out by the council, cleaning the courtyard. There is a great pub next to and owned by the hotel The Victoria, very nice, traditional pub. The breakfast was good.
