Disappointed, we stayed in the past and our experience was good, unfortunately we decided to stay here again and paid for a spa room, the hot water did not work and the reception had no idea when I would return. They promised us a refund because they changed us to a smaller room without a hot tub and the refund was not made. We feel cheated, I do not recommend it and I would never go back!

The loveliest - particular thanks to Sam - front desk staff (and efficient too). Excellent location, only a short walk to the centre, and very pleasant if you go through the park. There is also a bus stop directly outside; it will take you to the centre, or go to the bus station and take a trip to Sumner or Lyttleton - both worth a visit. Rooms are spacious and clean, beds comfortable. For some reason though, complimentary water and crisps only appeared on our first day! Useful to have a guest laundry, but be warned there is only one machine for all floors... The kitchen area is fine, but not for those who want to cook up a storm - you need to ask for pots and pans. Not a problem for us as we preferred to eat out (try Rangoon Ruby nearby, good, if somewhat 'neutralized' flavours, as the waitress herself put it!) . Overall a really pleasant stay in a very interesting city.

Comfortable hotel in Heart of City. Booked a room using points as a Gold Elite. Requested quiet room and was appointed 3rd floor over traffic lights so receptionist kindly moved me to a room on opposite side. It was quiet however the walls are thin and I can hear a lot of noise this morning - a lot of noise. Room service eggs were excellent, as was bar service last night. They know how to make a good drink. I was a bit annoyed as mini bar knocked this am and said she thought there was “no one in the room” whilst I was on a call. Not so professional. Can recommend as a good hotel in Christchurch (I’ve stayed in quite a few)

I stayed at this hotel again principally because it is an Accor property in the CBD (as I am an ALL Platinum) - but that is really about it. The hotel is passable for what one expects of a Novotel, but it is getting quite dated and the carpet stains in the room are too pointed a reminder of the hotel's age. The bed is soft and the generous number of pillows and cushions make for a very comfy night in. While it is in the CBD, it is a fair walk from most places of note in the city. Since my previous visit, the reception staff have improved in service and manner. I was disappointed that as I left a shirt in my room's cupboard, I had to call a few times to follow up on its search as the promised return call did not come until I called again (the shirt was never found). What is most disappointing is the restaurant. While the quality of the food is acceptable, it is quite overpriced for Christchurch and the restaurant's setting. Despite only having a handful of tables for dinner, I had to approach the wait staff when I wanted a table, to order, get a drink, or receive the check. Similarly, the bar staff are not as proactive as one may expect to come to tables and take drink orders, even when one is the only patron at the bar. My biggest complaint is the breakfast. On one of the mornings I even had to set my own table. Empty juice dispensers are not refilled for quite some time; the only eggs served are scrambled, the only non-meat ”hot” offering are potatoes and beans. Perhaps there is is a concern that some patrons are allergic to tomatoes, green leaves, salad, vegetables, and mushrooms? After two nights I moved to another hotel in Christchurch and am much happier.

Stayed four nights at this hotel which has a great location and within walking distance to most attractions and restaurants. Check in was good and paid parking plentiful. Unfortunately, the lift was not working on our arrival so we had to leave our luggage in our car and walk up to the third floor. The hotel is dated and grubby as was our room. There was a trolley of dirty towels and linen left in the hallway for over 24 hours during our visit, this is unacceptable! The bed was comfortable but the bathroom towels were very thin. One day we returned to our room at 4.00pm and the room was not made up. I understand the vacated rooms are made up first but after a full day of sightseeing, it would be good to return to a tidied room. I have stayed at various Quest hotels in Australia as I am a member but this is by far the worst. As such, I could not recommend this hotel to other travellers.

A big Thank you to Sue and David for an excellent comfortable 3 night stay at Rosewood Court. Very friendly hosts and everything was spotless and very comfortable. We were made very welcome from the moment we arrived. Sue helped us use the onsite laundry facilities. Well equipped kitchen, comfortable bed and loved the spa bath at the end of the day sightseeing. I stayed for a week in the downstairs unit facing the street. I was worried about road noise but it was fine although I think the road noise from Fitzgerald Ave was louder although no worse than any other motel near a main road. Otherwise the motel was well appointed and had eveything I needed including a bath. Unit well insulated and nice and cool on very hot days and nights. Good air flow from door and deck sliding door when I needed it. No instructions for heat pump (tricky to operate) and while I could have asked I found the instructions online. A big bonus was having my car under cover. Towels etc changed every day and bed tidied. Electrical plugs in all the right places for charging etc. A relatively easy 15 minute walk to town centre and bus hub. I will definitely be back although I can't speak for the other rooms.

TTrace yeoIs just walking distance to the Christchurch airport (less than 5 mins). There are a big Woolsworth Supermarket and many eateries around the area too and probably takes about 10mins to walk from the hotel. Hotel room is spacious and clean , modern and price is reasonable.

PPengguna TetamuExcellent location to explore Christchurch attractions. Very clean and well appointed room for an excellent price (I was wondering what It may be getting into). The room quality was a 3+ star for US standards. The only negative is the lack of parking (only offstreet parking or may have to drive a block away for parking). The clean room, friendly staff and excellent location and the overall niceness of Christchurch and it's people in general made us quickly get over the initial stress of trying to find a place to park. PPengguna TetamuThe V motel is conveniently located within walking distance of a shopping mall and grocery store and a 15-minute drive to the airport. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room is large, clean and very well-equipped. It has all the things that a business traveller needs, except for an iron and ironing board. The bed is comfortable and the towels and linings are clean. The Sony TV is large with Youtube and Netflix. It even provides some cereals and bananas, milk and yogurt for breakfast or snacks. The internet is fast and instructions, passwords are clear and easy to follow. Lastly, the price is fair and very affordable. I highly recommend this motel and would come back to it the next time.

PPengguna TetamuExcellent location! So close to everything in the city centre, we used the valet parking service and didnt take the car out once!, we could easily walk everywhere. We stayed 3 nights in a 1 bedroom suite, which was nice and clean, well appointed, and with a super comfy bed. They even had a wee sewing kit and a toothbrush kit, which are definitely things we've needed on our travels! Facilities in the hotel were great and staff were very friendly and attentive. Quintin from concierge was so helpful, and helped make our stay extra special by organizing wine and platters and delivering balloons to our room for our arrival :) Breakfast was also really yummy. Thank you Fable Christchurch! We really enjoyed our stay :)

SSukyWe stayed at the hotel for 4 nights just recently, first arrived at the hotel, the reception was polite enough but not as helpful as any front desk staff coud be. The room was clean and comfy, location was fantastic, environment was superb (quite, few hote guests). But somehow my wife lost her wedding ring from our room. We only noticed by the end of the day, and should have picked up earier. Mr. Sui Beng Teh, the hotel manager, made it even worse from a travellers point of view. He has the worse attitude to the whole incident, instead of offering his empathy, he pushed responsibility back to the hotel guests who lost the wedding ring in his room at his hotel. His passive aggression is throughout all the poor google review! He reacted bluntly when questioned about CCTV other than the door access record he could provide immediately, being agreesive at his answer and attitude towards to someone who turned over the room to just look for the missing ring. He was not friendly, empathatic nor welcoming despit he is in hospitality industry. Im not blaming at anyone here or making any accusation on anyone but he as the hotel manager was the only one we could seek help for in a foreign country, and he expected us undedstanding how police and system worked here. To us, he made us sound like ****** and being forgetful on our own properties.

PPengguna TetamuNot too impressed, got put in the wrong room when I specifically booked the room for the balcony. The guy at the front was new which I understand but no one did anything to help. Walls are thin as anything could hear everyone’s conversation and 5 different people snore. Will never be back.

BBOON TECKMy room was not cleaned up despite me putting up a door notice for housekeeping for the day. When I returned to my room in the evening, I was told to my surprise that my booking did not include housekeeping. The website of Breakfree at Cashel mentioned housekeeping is available. I was not informed that my booking omitted this service. Furthermore, I was told to collect new towels by myself at the counter. I just don't feel the hotel is not up to the mark in this aspect. Other things I am not quite happy about is that the room space is too small for easy packing and unpacking of my luggage but I suppose I get what I paid for, which is ok. I have decided to move to other hotel for the rest of my journey in Christchurch for the above reasons .

CCarolyn HTwo night stay in an Executive One Bedroom Suite. Lovely accommodation. Lounge area with couch and dinning table. Bedroom with large comfortable bed. Bathroom with good shower - good water pressure and toiletries. Ordered room service for evening meal - it came quickly and definitely hit the spot. Tempura battered fish and ribs. Good location about a 10 minute walk into Christchurch CBD. On-site free parking. Laundry facilities - washing powder and tokens available at reception. Would recommend.

Really impressed. Lady at reception was so so helpful and finally a hotel that provided real milk upon check in. Old fashioned some quaint anomalies I havent seen for yonks. Roomy, neat and tidy. I toddled up to reception in heavy rain to order continental breakfast and the same helpful lady was so helpful, gave me a few tips and showed me how to get back to room undercover. Complimentary drink at bar, free guest laundry so friendly staff in restaurant as well, good food. Very rarely give 5 stars but Redwood deserves them! Am looking at riding around south island next summer and if I do, will definitely stay at Redwood again.

YYANSHUII booked 3 bedrooms apartment with 3 queen beds and 1 sofa bed. The room is good. The only negative feedback is about the extra charge $30 each for children over 2 years old per night, as many hotels don’t charge children under 11 if they use existing beds. And more importantly, those hotels provide the info on Trip. I was surprised when I was told about the extra charge $180 for 3 children for 2 nights, eventually negotiated down to $90. I would suggest the hotel put children policy on Trip so that people is aware of extra $30 per child (over 2 years old) when they make the booking instead of checking in.
