We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights just recently, first arrived at the hotel, the reception was polite enough but not as helpful as any front desk staff coud be. The room was clean and comfy, location was fantastic, environment was superb (quite, few hote guests). But somehow my wife lost her wedding ring from our room. We only noticed by the end of the day, and should have picked up earier. Mr. ************, the hotel manager, made it even worse from a travellers point of view. He has the worse attitude to the whole incident, instead of offering his empathy, he pushed responsibility back to the hotel guests who lost the wedding ring in his room at his hotel. His passive aggression is throughout all the poor google review! He reacted bluntly when questioned about CCTV other than the door access record he could provide immediately, being agreesive at his answer and attitude towards to someone who turned over the room to just look for the missing ring. He was not friendly, empathatic nor welcoming despit he is in hospitality industry. Im not blaming at anyone here or making any accusation on anyone but he as the hotel manager was the only one we could seek help for in a foreign country, and he expected us undedstanding how police and system worked here. To us, he made us sound like *****s and being forgetful on our own properties.

I booked a private double room and wasn't expecting a good sleep because people going up & down the staircase sounded like a herd of rhino's. However, the quiet curfew of 10pm was adhered to and I enjoyed the best sleep I've had in the last 2 months (including my bed at home). The kitchen has plenty of space & the lounge has lots of table seating. The bathrooms were clean and the shower pressure was great. The location of the hostel is fantastic but street parking is metered and limited between 9am-6pm. I arrived on Waitangi Day when parking is free & only stayed 1 night so that worked well. But if you were staying longer finding free parking could be annoying so better to find an all day free spot the night before or leave it in a 24hr parking block. There are free streets but be mindful of residents.
Quest Cathedral Junction Serviced Apartments

Stayed four nights at this hotel which has a great location and within walking distance to most attractions and restaurants. Check in was good and paid parking plentiful. Unfortunately, the lift was not working on our arrival so we had to leave our luggage in our car and walk up to the third floor. The hotel is dated and grubby as was our room. There was a trolley of dirty towels and linen left in the hallway for over 24 hours during our visit, this is unacceptable! The bed was comfortable but the bathroom towels were very thin. One day we returned to our room at 4.00pm and the room was not made up. I understand the vacated rooms are made up first but after a full day of sightseeing, it would be good to return to a tidied room. I have stayed at various Quest hotels in Australia as I am a member but this is by far the worst. As such, I could not recommend this hotel to other travellers.
West Fitzroy Apartments

We had a Superior Studio apartment. While I guess it was an apartment, it was really the size of a standard studio room in a hotel, with a small kitchenette included. There was nothing wrong with the apartment, but once you opened your suitcases it was a bit cramped. The TV is on a TV stand and the kitchen table, with one chair, was cramped into a corner. A simple act of mounting the TV on the wall would have given much more usable space. The apartment was well maintained and looked reasonably new with ample parking for cars with designated spots in the car park behind the building. We were running late and reception rang us to provide us with a code for the lock box which worked perfectly. An email was also sent, but if I had not answered the phone because I was driving, I would never have gotten the email as I had no internet. Reception advised us that there was a night manager and he would have been able to let us in, so no real problem. Access from the carpark could be challenging with suitcases as depending on which floor you park and which floor your room is on, you may have to negotiate some stairs to get to the floor/lift. Located not far from the CBD and plenty of places to eat other than the size of the room this place was perfect.

We contacted The Parque directly to avoid writing a negative review online, but with no response to our email after several weeks, decided to let others know what could happen to them. This is the first negative review we have ever written, as we try to give only positive feedback. We booked a Grab One deal for a night’s accommodation after reading good reviews. Communication when booking was very good. We received an email with our access pin code the morning before we arrived. Everything went smoothly up until this point. We arrived 10 minutes before check in time after a long journey, looking forward to freshening up before meeting with family living in Christchurch. Our pin code didn’t work and when we phoned the number on our email, were told that the code would work at 2:00 p.m., the specified check in time. This was our first disappointment, as places we have stayed in the past have always welcomed us to use our room or communal amenities if the room wasn’t ready. Our 2:00 p.m. check in time came and went, with our pin code continuing to fail. When we phoned again (at our personal expense as the free phone in the lobby was no use to us outside) we received no answer. Luckily, the cleaner saw us and let us in but told us immediately that the pin codes had not been working for her also. She seemed very flustered as she also told us she had not been able to finish cleaning and had not been told that anyone was staying in our room that night. Eventually we got through to someone by phone again and were given another pin code to try. This also failed. A third number worked, at which time the cleaner requested time to finish cleaning our room. We left the building and checked the latest pin code at the front door to find that it failed again. We phoned again and were told to expect an email with a new pin code within half an hour. Two hours later we still hadn’t received an email. By this time we had met our family without being able to freshen up or change out of our travelling clothes. This was upsetting. We phoned again and were given a fourth pin code. This time it worked and we had no further issues. Other guests we saw during our stay told us they had a similar experience. We hope this never happens to anyone else. We will never stay again.
