I'll admit I was a little skeptical of staying here since there's no reviews, but I had a great experience! To begin with, I arrived around midnight but was still warmly welcomed by the staff, and I received this consistent friendly treatment throughout my entire stay. The hotel location is just outside the city centre, so it's not as pricey and not as chaotic, but it's less than 5 minutes from a train and multiple tram stations and surrounded by a street full of shops and restaurants. The room itself was spacious, beds and pillows were the perfect firmness for me, and the kitchen came in handy considering that a lot of restaurants close earlier in Australia. Overall, I'd definitely stay here again!

Luncheon with friends was absolutely delicious today and service exemplary. We have booked accommodation overnight in King Spa room and impressed with its neatness, cleanliness & size of room. And the bed is so comfortable. We are eating dinner here instead of going out because the hotel is fabulous, food great and delightful charming ambience!!! Perfect all round Trish.

The room was large and very well appointed with a comfortable bed and nice, very modern appointments. Ours was in a separate building behind that with the reception, but it was a level walk and had an elevator so worked out easily. We had a very nice dinner with friends in an almost empty dining room on a Saturday evening, which seemed strange. Unfortunately there was no breakfast, but there were places nearby should we have needed them. We were going to airport, so it did not matter. There was a underground parking, which we did not need, but seemed convenient.

The building is only a few years old but already showing early signs of wear in public areas. However the room itself was very clean and well designed. We stayed in a base rate room and while on the smaller side was ample space for what we needed. The king bed was very comfortable and the shower was spacious and great pressure. A coffee machine with pods is provided. Access to the hotel from the west is extremely easy but if you are approaching from the east there is no way to turn right into the hotel and you have to go a fair way down the road before you can turn around and come all the way back. Once on property there is a nice curved driveway to park while you are checking in. Parking onsite was $35 but as I had read these reviews I knew to ask about the street parking and was told it would cost $15. I said ‘I thought on the weekends it was free’ and they responded ‘oh yes, we can give you complimentary parking’ (Haha). The staff were very friendly. The street parking is on the street along the nearby river (Yarra Blvd) and takes 1 min to walk across a grass parkland to this street. On the weekend it seemed a very quiet street and safe to park. This street parking is metered parking between 8am-5pm Mon- Fri so the hotel can provide a pass for $15 but if your stay is outside these hours you can park for free. The tram station is immediately out the front of this hotel so although it is a fair way from the CBD it is easy access to Melbourne. Our T.V. remote was not working (maybe old batteries) so we were unable to watch T.V. and the clock beside the bed lit up the time while the lights were on but seemed to be light activated because once all lights were switched of it also switched off so you could not see the time during the night - so keep your phone clock handy.

Let’s start with undisclosed surcharges, followed by unauthorised charges to credit card (twice) moving on to the receptionist on arrival….then the only access to any floor being very steep stairs (about 210mm risers and 250mm goings) - try lugging a suitcase up to the top floor (no elevator)…I walked into room to be greeted by a horrid smell, the bathroom is a combined shower and toilet at 98cm wide and 245cm long with frosted glass sliding door/wall that you can see colours and shapes through - no privacy and being so small water everywhere (no extraction fan so dripping, fogged up mirror as well). Advertised “garden view” is a construction site right next door about 5m away, combined with construction noise and workers speaking loudly in not-English from 6am every morning (except Sunday). I accept that MVV can’t control there is a construction site - but there’s no garden view. As much as I look there is not a single bit of green or even dirt to be seen do I don’t know where this garden view is… I was travelling with my 12 year old so had the room with fold out couch - which did fold out but no linen provided - thankfully I thought to throw a sleeping bag, pillow and some towels in the car before coming down - they were all most definitely needed. The fold out couch was hard, broken and couldn’t be slept on as it was just too uncomfortable. The water in the shower has a 10cm diameter span - you need to keep spinning around to get front and back wet. It is consistently hot though. Move on to day 5 of a 9 day stay and the manager knocks on my door saying they need 5 hours access to my room to replace the air con that is leaking (ahhh so that’s the gross smell - sopping wet walls and carpet that have been wet a very long time). I said “no I don’t want anyone into the room I am paying for my access to” and I was told I am unreasonable and to leave the next day. One minute after I called Consumer Affairs/VCAT the manager knocks and says “you stay I rescheduled” - when 5 min earlier he told me it could not be rescheduled and I was unreasonable. I do wonder why one minute after I mention VCAT (in the closed room) he changed his mind… Partway through our stay the access to the building and carpark was changed from card access to a PIN - as a guest we were not notified of the PIN to be able to actually access the building. The first night of the new system there was a handwritten note with the PIN on it - thankfully we remembered because the next day the note was gone and still 3 days later we hadn’t been notified on the PIN to be able to access the carpark or even building after hours. Also - the room is not made up daily like a normal motel, you are given one bath towel that is to last your entire stay. I had to also not only clean the room on leaving but empty the rubbish bin downstairs in the outside hopper. For the amount of money paid for this place I am totally gobsmacked at this. pretty annoyed to have to lodge $50 deposit” in case i break any thing or take anything” does that include soap??? Had to wait for the person to come to the office - sign said back in 5 minutes but noone turned up - there were 2 people waiting - a phone call and finally turned up to register. If you are going to charge a deposit it should be on the booking site - not a surprise when you arrive. Won't go there again

Second time we stayed here because we were preparing our house for sale. Close to our children's school and Camberwell train station. Both our stay here we were given an apartment facing laneway (rear) not facing the petrol station or camberwell rd. So it was quiet and private. Cleaning was ok. They really need to air the apartment for it always smell of food. Beds are OK. Good enough. Location is great for us. Parking is secure but an extra fee of $10/day. Kitchen is ok. A bit small. dishwasher is too small. Dining plates too big for dishwasher! No where to dry dishes when washed manually. Washing machine available. No dryer or drying room. Could hear people next door coughing from our lounge room. Janet the manager was ok. Not the friendliest. Would stay here again because of the location. Better than Quest Apartments!

One of the WORST hotel experiences ever had! Please, don't book! Our Stay/Room - Bed side tables were FILTHY. Had a layer of dust all over it! - My wife and child (who both suffer from sever asthma), were triggered by the amount of dust that was all over the room. Window seals, curtains, bed side tables, EVERYTHING was dirty. Not sure how much cleaning happens at Amora. - The carpet was just disgusting. So much so, that we did not put our small toddler on the floor/carpet once. Had to put a towel down (no blankets provided) - Bath robes still had Makeup ALL OVER IT - We found a pair of somebody’s socks under the bed..... - Balcony was sooooo dirty. It was flooded with water. Couldn't even walk out there. Dining at Amora - A pathetic excuse for a ''restaurant” - EXTREMELY overpriced. Complete rip-off - My pasta was sloppy, overcooked and had ZERO flavour - Chips were good. That's about it - Staff looked constantly confused at basic requests - We only ate here because it was raining and we didn't want to bring our kids out into the rain Location - The only thing that was good.... Never have I stayed at such a run-down, tired, disgustingly filthy hotel at TOP PRICE. What an ABSOLUTE RIP OFF! Felt more stressed and tired from having stayed here. What a complete waste of money.
