Where to start! Room was tiny and damp! Extractor in toilet not working! Staff slow. Food was below average. I asked for Chicken Tikka Masala, was told I had to have chips with it, as they had no Rice. My nephew had Mixed Grill, was the mankiest Piece of Chicken included. I’m Coeliac and enquired before booking about their ability to produce a Gluten Free meal and was told no problem. For breakfast all they did was exclude the Gluten containing items. I got two pieces of burnt Gluten Free bread, no butter. There was no cutlery, and I hunted out some for my fellow guests. Our table wasn’t cleared, not even when a second coffee arrived. Was just plopped down among the used items. And an hour or so later I passed the window and the table still wasn’t cleared. We were asked on booking-in what time we would like breakfast. We said 8am. Second morning we couldn’t gain access to the main building (we had been housed in what they called the ‘Annexe’) A guest staying in the main building let us in, but no sign of staff, everywhere was locked. She had booked 8.30. I tried to contact Marstons without success, apparently they don’t work weekends. Eventually a young lady arrived to start work and dismissed our complaints with the statement “we were busy last night, so we struggled to open on time” My breakfast this morning gained a Gluten containing sausage, as did Sunday’s, I removed the sausage and hoped no cross contamination had occurred. The whole place is dingy, run-down and in need of full restoration. Outside areas, including car park, dirty and rubbish strewn. Smoking takes place just outside main door, where you have to fight your way through the crowd of smokers, this included the staff as well. An old fire bucket was provided for butts, this hadn’t been emptied in a long time, was full and spilling onto the pavement. I remember this Hotel at its best, is the complete opposite now. Bar staff were poorly trained, I asked for an Orange Juice and Lemonade, I had to explain how she was to achieve this. She struggled with the till and had to seek help. Tea making facilities were included: except we didn’t have a kettle. I obtained one from reception, which hadn’t been cleaned or descaled. I cleaned it. Not even a teaspoon was provided. No bin in bathroom, no loo brush. Extremely cheap toilet paper. Sink emptied before finishing washing. Shower dripping. Bin in room had no bin bag, and was filthy. Room was tiny, a single at best with twin beds in. The towels and bed linen were clean and of reasonable quality. Duvet very efficient. My mattress was past its best, as many had sat on the edge to watch the TV.

There seem to be some negative review about the St Leonard’s but not all is true, situated on the main road it’s easy access into this establishment, I was greeted with a friendly welcome by Adriana, Chrissi and John who made me feel very welcome with a huge range of drinks and a great menu! The food and drink was wonderful and always served with a smile, I would definitely recommend this pub/hotel and the rooms are comfortable and homely! Thanks team. Great job!!

We were lucky to have been given a voucher for dinner bed and breakfast staying at burley lodge for one night. The date was booked and email confirmation received for our stay on 4th July. We were looking forward to a night away from our busy lives, but by using the voucher it meant we had to use 2 days annual leave, I now feel I wish I hadn’t….. When we arrived we were told no room was booked even though we had email confirmation, finally after a wait and told to sit in the bar (no offer of a drink while we waited) the lady returns and after several more minutes of typing on the system she managed to find a room for us. Apparently head office booked the room for 14th July We had a garden suite booked, we were told that it was a garden suite room she had found for us. However the room didn’t have a bath (As we don’t have a bath at home this was something I was looking forward to) as it was an accessible room only, we had a problem with the shower not turning off, leaking and running all Night, it was reported but no one was available to fix it, the lady did attend the room with towels which we used to try and prevent being woken all night with water non stop running. to. I’d also add the decking area and outside furniture didn’t look like it has ever been cleaned, and high level cleaning in the rooms clearly gets missed. We had a 3 course dinner included in our package (thank goodness as I can’t believe your prices!! I think a tiny cheesecake cake with a blob of ice cream was £12 absolute daylight robbery. I was also not impressed that the £23 steak came with a salad…. Chips are an extra £5 I mean come on that’s an absolute joke. The service was slow but the staff seemed new, and we were told lots of management changes were happening hence new staff not really knowing what was happening. Onto breakfast…. I’m sorry to say but this was a shambles and probably the worst I’ve had in a hotel, travel lodge is 100 times better! Clearly not enough staff and I really did feel for the staff, where are the managers supporting on the shop floor? Vey understaffed for whatever reason. Is this a cost saving or has everyone left? one girl was her first day from an agency (id be surprised if she comes back!) being told off and told what not to do etc, don’t they get any training prior to starting ? , how do we know this because we kept getting told by her and the other lady how it was her first day etc. It was really awkward all round I’d compare it to Fawley towers!! and the other lady looked like she was going to burst into tears due to the stress of racing about trying to do everything, she had to take coffee orders, food orders, serve food etc. it was all very stressful to be honest. One lady in a suit did arrive however I witnessed her telling the two staff off in front of some customers but they were trying their best. Another point is no beans… I get beans are not offered on the menu for whatever reason? but surely in any English br

We loved our overnight stay at the Aaron Causeway Hotel. Our family room was clean and spacious with three proper beds and an en-suite bathroom with shower. The room had a large kettle, tea, coffee and biscuits were provided (fresh milk on request). We had dinner in the downstairs restaurant which was very good , a kid’s menu was also available. The breakfast was great with many different choices and good coffee and tea.
