The Villa in Lavinia is in a beautiful old building. From the road doesn't look so great but inside is very nice. The owner Tyrone made us feel very welcome and all the staff were kind and friendly. The hotel is convenient for getting into Colombo. Many nearby buses go there. Also a nearby supermarket and several good restaurants. The part of the beach near to the hotel is not so nice but is better if you walk further down towards the big and famous Hotel Mount Lavinia. We stayed 5 nights but the hotel and the area is probably better suited to shorter stays. Room simple but adequate. Very good internet connexion. All in all, a pleasant stay.

Wonderful service, The owner is ready to do whatever he can to help. Tropical trees surround the house and you’ll be waken up with the singing of the birds in the morning. Very tasty breakfast, both local flavor and western.

Our wedding at Mount Lavinia Hotel in March 2024 was nothing short of spectacular. The location, service, and overall experience made our special day truly unforgettable. Overall, our wedding day at Mount Lavinia Hotel was more elegant and memorable than we could have ever imagined. We are incredibly thankful to the entire team for their exceptional service and support. The hostel has the best location: really calm area, just 200mts from the beach and 15 minutes by train from the city center (Colombo). Good atmosphere. Amazing common area. Beautiful sea view. Staff very friendly and helpful. Free filtered water. Shared rooms (With fans) Private Rooms (With and Without A/C) The area around has many conveniences: market, pharmacy, restaurants. Just 15 min walking distance from Mount Lavinia train station and 5 min walking to bus stand (many options to go to Colombo)

Good place. Nice staff. Great swimming pool. But need more maintenance on room. Very old and lots of ants. My daughter got bites.

This hotel is a bit of a mixed bag. Let me start with the good parts.... Our room, 709 was a large suite. It had two toilet rooms and lovely views of the Colombo skyline in one direction and of the sea looking the other direction. Depending on why you are staying at this hotel, it's location on the main road, a hike from the beach, may or may not be a good thing. For us, it was a good location. Staff was generally helpful, when they were available. Our room cleaning guy was great. Often around and always pleasant. We were at the hotel in May. Perhaps this was a particularly low visitor time of year. The place was pretty dead. And, there were times that it was difficult, if not impossible, for us to find any staff. There was never any real food available, that we saw. The one time we were ready and free to use the roof top swimming pool, on Saturday afternoon, seems to have been when they decided to chlorinate the pool. So, we were disappointed that we couldn't use it. The most disappointing (and perhaps the only really disappointing) thing about our stay at Anarva Mount Lavinia was the antiquated Wi-Fi system that was totally inadequate for most anything. It was a real frustration and seems to be quite inexcusable in 2023.
