Maspalomas Princess

We have just returned from a weeks stay here, myself, my partner and our 2yo. The reviews made me very nervous however I need not have worried. The rooms are abit tired in places as are some of the chairs in the buffett resturant, rips in the sofa bed, cracks in the walls, ripped seats etc it is not everywhere in the hotel but it does let the hotel down slightly. The air con works in the room but isnt very powerful so again understand why people have mentioned this. The hotel is very clean daily we saw the floors being buffed, polished and cleaned, this included around by the pool. The sunbeda are cleaned daily (granted some are discoloured) but this happens with wear and tear and daily use and cleaning. The buffet restaurant is a little bit of a free for all once you are seated but we never waited longer than 6 mins for a table and the food is plentiful, tasty and replenished regularly. The asian and italian al la cartes are also buffett style but food is very tasty, the only issue is trying to get a drink. Pools wise there is plenty to choose from we went for the warmer deeper pool every day. The life guards are very hot on everything no ball games etc which did mean our daughter got abit bored in the pool. My partner tried to take her to kids club to colour (with him supervising) but he was told no as he wasnt german. This was a shame. There is a small play park but my daughter wasnt very interested. The staff were all very pleasent, always saying morning etc My main issue was the sand on the beach and the spa. The sand on the beach is very gritty and uncomfortable to walk on...it could be absolutely lovely if it was proper sand. I booked for the spa circuit and although it looked like it would be nice half of the stuff didnt work so i left after 20mins. The spa circut could be really nice and really good value if they did some repairs. Overall its a good hotel but I have stayed in better ones. Dont let the poor reviews put you off if you have already booked.

Only get one hard pillow and the food is always lukewarm. Apart from that the hotel and pools are fantastic, staff are very friendly. Pool for adults only and the one if you are taking the kids is lovely , out side pool bars easy accessible, if you don’t want to go in the main dining room for lunch the outside pool bar is open for lunch and good selection of food for adults and kids

Possibly the best hotel we’ve all stayed at and we’ve stayed at a lot of plush hotels between us all. One of the greatest points to mention is that there are ‘sunbed police’ before 10am who will definitely remove any towels if people aren’t sat on them - love it…. I’d definitely go back.

Fabulous hotel so much space every where bars restaurant outside the pool areas so much choice adult pool beach area lagoon toddlers and adventure safari pool loads of sun beds food choice very good rooms spacious and clean staff very friendly

Hotel was nice, we were on the older side overlooking the kids pool (which was a bit loud at times). Sign of wear and tear such as the patio door was extremely tough to open and close. Food was great, loads of choice. Bit of queuing at peak times. Staff friendly and welcoming. Some extra costs such as the sun lounger beds and the spa. We used the spa 4 times as it was worth paying the extra. Entertainment was more for kids and families. No music in the piano bar which I thought was odd. The grounds are well kept and the tropical planting really nice and mature. Lots of zones to try. We ventured out twice but there is plenty to keep you entertained if you didn’t want to go anywhere else. Visited Sioux City and fully recommend for everyone a lot of fun and lovely people.

The hotel on the whole is fantastic. There are one or two things which prevent a 5* review from me - but they didn’t take away from the overall enjoyment of our stay. 1) Our prestigious suite was apparently in the middle of being decorated - the walls were half painted. 2) There was a strange smell which came from one of our bathrooms when the room was locked up. This quickly dispersed with opening the balcony doors, 3) The entertainment was a bit hit and miss. Lots of variety through the day and a lovely team, but the evening shows a bit monotonous. Now those very minor issues are out of the way, let me give some of my highlights 1) The whole place was spotlessly clean. 2) The bed was very comfortable. (Could have done with another pillow but I’m sure these would have been provided if I had asked - I kept forgetting until bed time and then couldn’t be bothered to go to reception to ask). 3) The pool areas, so much space. The hotel has a no saving subbed policy, so we never struggled to find a space. (Not sure this would be the same in August). 4) Bali beds….. enough said! (Although it is worth noting that there is a €20 charge per day for these. For that we would have liked you to have seen waiter service or something, but this was just for the bed). 5) The food was varied and very high quality. Freshly prepared throughout the day and again spotlessly clean restaurants and snack areas. 6) There were no mozzies or bugs to speak of. I don’t know if the hotel is treated somehow or what, but I think this is the first time I’ve had a whole week away without a bite! 7) The staff are a credit to the hotel. Always so helpful and friendly. Overall, we loved our stay and would definitely return to the same type of room which we had. It was a nice bonus to be able to have both balcony doors open and a fresh breeze going through. The area on the island is very nice, a short drive from Maspalomas and Meloneras, but far enough out that you’re not crowded.
