Hotel berhampiran Donald Campbell＇s Grave, Coniston

Hotel overall was lovely, staff was lovely, rooms could do with a bit of updating and room was quiet damp of mould in certain places, sink took a little time to empty, shower was lovely, a throw away from the train station and about 15 min walk to Windermere lake

We have just returned from a 3 night stay for our anniversary. Beutiful building grounds well looked after. Great parking facilities, great location Staff are warm and welcoming and certainly not stuffy which is sometimes a problem when staying in a country house. Bar is superb beautifully decorated comfy with a lovely open fire crackling away. Our room, room 1 is a four poster room with views of the mere lovely old room not best location directly adjacent to stairs but none the less we loved it. Food we ate at the hotel on 2 evenings in both restaurants and the food is fantastic not a huge menu but something for everyone. Breakfast was great and we ate alone every morning 🙈🙈 due to being early risers. Location is also great bus stop at end of driveway so gateway to the lake district at your door we parked the car up when we arrived and never used it the rest of the time. The beutiful Highland cows at the end of the drive is a lovely welcome and we stopped by daily for a chat. All in all we had a great warm stay with lovely welcoming staff great food and drinks within lovely surroundings we will be back.

Staff are always welcoming and can’t do enough to make your stay the best it can be. The hotel rooms are spotless with really comfy beds. Breakfast was nice and a good selection for anyone’s taste. Hot foods can be ordered when you sit down and there is a good selection of fruit, yoghurt, toast, cereal to help yourself to as well. The hotel is ideally located in the centre of Ambleside with good parking. We didn’t need to move the car once we had arrived as everything is in walking distance and we spent our days exploring the many walks which you can take from Ambleside. We are regular visitors and this is our favourite place to stay.

Fantastic hotel with beautiful surroundings. We loved sitting in the gardens near the pond with all the friendly ducks. We visited their miniature village which was really good and the young lad had lots of knowledge. Staff are really friendly, breakfast was lovely and rooms were really nice and comfortable with a good outlook onto fields. We will definitely be back soon. Also only 10 mins drive from Bowness 😁

Absolutely perfect stay. We booked “Holly” a wonderful ground floor room, tastefully decorated and furnished with a comfy bed and small pine table and chairs. Really stylish modern large shower room. We’ve never taken our dog to stay in accommodation before but felt at ease straight away. There was enough room for his bed and we’d brought our own bed cover just in case he jumped on our bed, but there were fleeces rolled up ready to use for doggy guests. We own our own holiday let and know how much thought and effort goes into ensuring guests are comfortable and have an enjoyable time. I can safely say Lake View is perfect. We felt really welcomed, it was a lovely and warm, quiet and comfortable stay and we’ll definitely be back! As always we read previous reviews and have to admit having a chuckle at the negative ones for Lake View. Honestly it’s about 2 mins flat from the most delicious breakfast at the Sport Inn. We’d recommend you book a table in advance for an evening meal to avoid disappointment, easy to do online. There’s a parking space with the room which is brilliant considering how much parking is at a premium in the village. Do take advantage of the location for walks too, you won’t be disappointed. Upon arrival we parked in overflow car park with no problems second day We managed to park out front. We were in room 5 which was well sized and beautifully laid out. Tea/ coffee making facilities, 55 inch tv, full length mirror, heating, small table and chairs which was nice to have for coffee time instead of having to sit on bed. Beautiful and large en suite shower room with a decent shower only fault was the bathroom mirror was to high. Easy keyless entry system if you like the personal touch this place is not for you,but to be honest we prefer to be left alone. Overall we loved this place and would definitely return.
