Upon arrival everything seemed fine. The hotel looked ok from the exterior. We were a little Isurprised that the hotel was basically on the other side of the fence from the airport runways. When we entered the hotel the lobby was nice with a bar and restaurant everything still seemed to be going fine. So we decided to check in. Everything changed as soon as we entered the old elevator. As soon as the doors opened on our floor we noticed an odor in the hallway. We were even more surprised how the smell seemed to get stronger as we made our way down the hall and into our room. The room had a strong odor of smoke and must. The door was dirty and scratched up as well. We looked around and felt the room was just plain worn out. The furniture was not clean and very worn looking. As we were deciding what to do my daughter looked out the window and to our surprise there were about 10 old dirty mattresses lined up next to the dumpster (yes this is the view we had) that was the final straw and we decided to go back to the front desk and ask for a refund. The manager was very nice and there was no issue with a refund. The 5 star rating on this hotel is VERY miss leading. Stay away and spend your money elsewhere. This is NOT a $300/ night room.

My first trip to Maine was amazing. This hotel was beautiful. I understand it only opened less than a year ago. The lobby was lovely, free breakfast, and a nightly happy hour with drinks and food. Gym and laundry facilities, and water/ice dispensaries throughout the hotel. The room was beautiful and so well led out. It was obvious the designers of this space understood the importance of maximizing space. It was one of the few hotels that did not have an alarm clock, which is so redundant these days. Had a room with 2 beds, very soft and spacious. 3 night stands, kitchen area, spacious bathroom, large closet, desk space...really, it was a perfect stay. 10 minutes to downtown Portland!

My wife and I came to Portland Maine to visit family. We stayed at the Sheraton Sable Oaks and we were very pleased we did. I would like to thank Chris Merriam Exec Chef for his kind and generous hospitality. What a gentleman! Meg Poulin Sales Manager happened to come by our table just to say hello. Imagine that? And Suzie our waitress took very good care us. Through our conversations we determined that between the three of these wonderful people there was over 90 years of hospitality expeience at this single property. Can you imagine? That ”is” the testament of this matchless property. We...will...be staying there again. Thank you all

I think after 20 stays over the past 8 years, I should write a review. I travel mainly for business although the hotel is used more for family vacations. As far as I know, it is the only hotel in the downtown Portland area with a kitchenette which is the obvious major advantage. Another major plus is the location. While the hotel is on the popular waterfront, it is on the Eastern edge. Parking is less difficult on the street and also, you feel less like you are in a less congested area. The Eastern promenade is a block away where there is a great jogging and walking path. The final issue that sets this hotel apart from others is the front staff. They are incredibly accommodating, friendly, and cheerful. This has been a pattern for the past few years, and I am not quite sure how they attract and keep such good staff. It can make all the difference for your stay. Finally, if you want to know anything about Maine, bartender Greg will fill you in!

We try to always stay at a Hilton as they are uniform for quality so we know what to expect when we arrive. This hotel was no exception as the room was very clean and very comfortable. Front desk team was very polite and professional. Plenty of parking although it is across the street. Easy walking distance to the main drag.

Got walked from the property because they had no rooms available even though multiple of us had a confirmed reservation for a room. Would not have been a big deal if they booked us at another property but they said “everything in Portland is booked.” We had to find our own accommodations . A very poorly managed property

We stayed at the Homewood Suites (Scarborough) as part of a sports group. I checked in online the day before and my room was ready by midday. When I arrived I was given keys to the room and made my way to the room. Most of the hotel staff went above and beyond for our group. We had an early morning game and the breakfast staff came in an hour early to have breakfast prepared for us. Amazing! The rooms were clean and had all of the amentines needed to cook meals if we needed to. Having a full size referigerator is great. Beds were comfortable. And for all of those who need a fan at night, there is a ceiling fan. I was so excited! Like I mentioned, breakfast staff was wonderful. They offered eggs, bacon as well as bagels, yogurts and more. Sue at the front desk really made the group feel welcomed. And would do anything she could for us. Thanks for making our stay great!

We booked this hotel while on our roadtrip of the east coast thinking we could trust the hotel brand name. It was in a great location but our experience was less than ideal to say the least. First, they report that they REQUIRE you to do valet parking and pay $40 for it on top of your hotel cost. This was annoying but we moved on from this and were excited to get some sleep. However, there was BLOOD on our sheets in our hotel room! We called the front desk immediately who said they would bring us new sheets right away and hung up, didn't show much concern for there being blood by the way. No one came for over 30 minutes, called again, they said they would send housekeeping and hung up. No apologies, no concern still. Housekeeping showed up and changed the sheets (thankfully) but still then put the pillow with the bloody pillow case back on the bed. We were exhausted and so over it at this point so we just went to bed but so incredibly frustrating that the hotel did not care that there was blood on the sheets in a ”clean” hotel room. Terrible experience. We will not stay at this hotel chain again.
