Hotel berhampiran Mosquée Hann marinas, Dakar

I’m in two minds about this hotel - there’s a lot of great aspects but equally a lot of improvements needed. In the days leading up to my stay I tried to reach out for assistance with transport from the hotel, but unfortunately there was no response to email and difficulty with English over the phone. Fortunately taxis are easy enough to source at the airport but allow at least an hour, and my return took two hours in peak traffic. Checking in was an easy process with staff on hand to help with luggage despite it being an early hour of the morning. Staff were friendly and quickly explained the facilities and although it felt a basic affair it was quick. My room was on the same level as reception and was listed as a Superior Single room. Fortunately this didn’t equate to only having a single bed and the room was pretty spacious. With a tiled floor throughout and effective air-conditioning it was a cool room despite the hot weather and with a separated living area by a step it would be a comfortable space for an extended stay. There was a large desk with kettle but only a single coffee sachet provided, which felt tight despite the single occupancy. There was a large bottle of mineral water however. The TV was wall mounted opposite the bed, a decent enough size for the room but with rather poor picture quality and only a single channel in English from the US. The selling point for the hotel rooms has to be the sea facing views though, along with the balconies. This is a nice space with the seats and the sound of waves crashing on the rocks below a great feature, although I’m not sure I’d feel so relaxed during stormy weather! The bathroom was an okay space with plenty of storage space around the sink. Again, only a single item of each toiletry was provided, and none of them seemed to match, but there were enough towels of decent enough quality. Bizarrely the toilet seat was too small for the actual toilet and there was no form of door or curtain on the shower which made it feel a bit of work-in-progress area. The shower head was good, but with very sensitive temperature control and inconsistent heat, but at least a large unit. Overall it was a comfortable enough room. There were some bugs which could be found, small within the lower living room area, some larger hiding in the gaps around the wardrobe, but not something which couldn’t be put to the back of the mind. A lot of the decor appeared to be water damaged and was really due a touch up, both within the bathroom and main bedroom ceiling. Housekeeping weren’t always the quietest in the morning, but they always observed the privacy sign and there was zero noise from the adjacent rooms. On the lower level is the restaurant, and below that the bar. Both overlook the ocean but have very limited seating outdoors. The air-conditioning inside is very effective and the staff all very friendly, but somewhat limited with English. With the lights off during the day it didn’t always feel the most cosy

For the price, I expected average. This hotel is amazing. Gym, restaurant, cityscape view, and 5-star service. It’ in the center of the city so easy access to everything. Highly recommend if you’ll be doing lots of touring. Would definitely stay here again.

Zu einem für Dakar günstigen Preis bei Buchung via Internet hatte ich mich für 3 Nächte im Hotel JARDIN SAVANA eingemietet. Hotel Der eingeschossige Bau ist älteren Datums, ruhig und ohne Verkehrslärm in einem großen, parkähnlichen Garten direkt am Meer gelegen, wegen der Hanglage jedoch mit vielen Treppen. Sehr hilfsbereiter Rezeptionist. Taxen vor dem Hotel. Zimmer Mein Zimmer (321), NR, DZ als EZ, war zweckmäßig eingerichtet. Möbel zwar schon mit Gebrauchsspuren, aber sauber. Gute Matratze im kingsize bed, ausreichend Stauraum für einen Kurzurlaub, Safe, Minibar, Sitzecke, Schreibtisch, TV (nicht genutzt), Telefon (defekt), genügend Steckdosen und Lichtquellen, verdunkelbare Fenster, AC, Wlan frei – auch im Außenbereich – jedoch nicht immer stabil. 1 Fl. Wasser/täglich. Leider total versiffter Teppichboden. Der sollte dringendst ausgetauscht werden, am besten durch Fliesen. Möblierter Balkon mit Blick auf Pool und Meer. Bad Wannenbad (mit sehr hohem Einstieg) mit Regendusche, geringer Wasserdruck, Bad/WC gut ausgeleuchtet, Körperpflegeartikel etc. Tägliche Reinigung und Wäschewechsel. Aufmerksamer roomboy. Frühstück Für senegales. Verhältnisse umfangreich, jedoch weit entfernt von kontinentalem Frühstück, sehr kuchenlastig, frisches Obst, kl. Auswahl an Wurst und Käse, leider nur gekochte Eier, kein Rührei oder andere Variationen, Tee, Kaffeeautomat, Milch, Säfte, Wasser. Vermisst habe ich persönlich Joghurt. Anders als in den anderen Bereichen des Hotels ist der Service hier sehr muffig und desinteressiert. Pool Großer Pool mit kleinen Mängeln (Fliesen fehlen), Liegen, Sonnenschirme und Handtuch kostenlos. Der Pool steht auch externen Besuchern zur Verfügung, z.B. für Wassergymnastik, Schwimmunterricht etc. oder einfach nur als Spaßbad. Da kommt es zu Engpässen: keine freien Liegen/keine Handtücher. Bedenklich in meinen Augen im Hinblick auf die Hygiene, daß auch sog. Pampas-Babys mit in den Pool genommen werden. Poolbar Gute Cocktails etc, Möglichkeiten zum Essen nach Karte, sehr aufmerksamer und freundlicher Service (Planters Punch sehr zu empfehlen) Restaurant Open Air Restaurant - direkt am Meer gelegen, leider sehr schlecht besucht. Ausreichend große Karte, Umsetzung ok., man darf keine Geschmacksexplosionen erwarten. Gambas topp, Languste schwarz gegrillt. Aufmerksames Personal, besonders Almany und der Koch fielen mir angenehm auf. Strand Privater Strand vorhanden, den ich aber tunlichst gemieden habe. Fazit Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis stimmt. Ich habe mich wohlgefühlt.

We were blown away by how nice this place was – a veritable oasis in a busy, noisy city. Very trendy and modern with a laid back vibe and African feel. The location in Ngor is great, close to many points of interest, with lots of restaurants and convenience stores located within about 5-minutes walk. The hotel staff were all great, very friendly and welcoming with good English. The rooms are all individual chalets with private courtyards set in African gardens – plenty of privacy. Our room was spacious and modern with all the amenities you’d expect – AC, coffee maker, fridge, TV, hairdryer, etc. The Wifi internet was super fast and we enjoyed the complimentary nuts and coconut cakes. Great bathroom/shower, plenty of space. Everything was clean, comfortable, and quiet. We were surprised to find a relatively well-equipped gym on site, complete with 3 good-quality cardio machines (elliptical, bike, & treadmill), a small selection of dumbbells, and a plate-loaded multigym/safety rack. Also a few benches and other odds and ends. We had some great workouts here. The pool and restaurant are very attractive and trendy. We enjoyed our excellent daily poolside a la carte breakfasts, and ate an evening meal here as well – excellent burgers! There are a few friendly felines roaming the property as well. Overall we had an amazing stay and can’t really find anything negative to say. We would love to stay here again and recommend it to other travelers.

Hotels are supposed to be your home away from home, and in the 10 years I have been traveling, mostly Africa, 34 African countries, and counting, this has been true until King Fahd. My stay in each country is an average of 3 weeks. I get to know the staff and begin to feel welcome and comfortable; there are always small things, but they generally work out with the help of a willing and able staff. This hotel is convenient to work, and as its website boasts, caters to the business clientele, and has WI-FI, if I come back to Senegal, I will stay somewhere else and make do with the traffic. The housekeeping staff at King Fahd will try to accommodate you, and they do as well as possible, given the rules, but the rooms don’t get much of deep cleaning. The view can also be grand, but you have to ask specifically for a room with a view. Ms Khady Diatta at the front desk is always warm and welcoming very professional and made any front desk transaction seamless. Sadly she is but one. King Fahd is uncomfortable from the beginning, you get some help but not without having to beg for help/service from 3-4 different people. They are the most untrained “hospitality” staff I have encountered, and they will tell you what they think you want to hear, not the truth. Zero communication amongst staff. The WI-FI will not work for hours to days, but they will be surprised when you tell them it is not working if you complain to enough people; in my case, 5 people in one day. They sent two people in the AM to confirm the trouble with WI-FI, but they were not IT, and nothing came of it. I Spoke 2 times to the manager (Fatou Naiaye), 2 hours apart, and she told me they had hotspots available. I have never been more uncomfortable after interacting with a manager than with this manager, who became angry, just short of yelling at me after I tried to explain my frustration with the many things promised but unavailable in this hotel. The restaurant for breakfast is a whole other YUCK; the same wet sponge is used to “clean” the table and mat, swipe the mat, but there is a layer of forearm sweat lingering on the tables that, even after I pointed out made the server giggle and made no more effort to clean. There is no spray disinfectant for cleaning. That said, if you show up to breakfast after 7:00 AM, on my first Sunday, they haven’t rid up the tables or reset them, so you have to go look for flatware and napkins as well as a spot to eat, and they literally ask you what you are looking for!! Same breakfast food every day for three weeks. This is when I decided I couldn’t eat in there just take bananas and yogurt; I tried to leave with two pieces of bread on a plate and yogurt with a spoon to my room but was chased down by Maître ď, who took my plate and spoon, now with two pieces of bread in fist and yogurt back to the room. You'll feel very comfortable during your stay. The rooms are clean, the staff are super friendly, and the food is amazing! There is a beautiful pool with lounge chairs & towels. There's a decently size gym and spa. They offer shuttles from the airport to hotel upon request so I recommend emailing the hotel to provide your flight info prior to arrival.
