Having read quite a few of the reviews, service seems to be the prevailing factor on which I must agree... Check in - well all I can say is this was it was efficient. I would like to say it was friendly but it was not. In fact, any time we had occasion to interact with reception the gentleman on it had the same attitude. Not a good first impression. We stayed for 2 nights in a Manoir Suite, number 19. The suite itself was of good size, with an inner courtyard, table, chairs, umbrella. We had a minstrel gallery in the suite which gave the room a feeling of space. It was well furnished, clean, tidy. However, the ambience was one of feeling cold, no real warmth. Sofa, chairs, book shelf TV, very sterile, certainly not what it looks like on the hotel website. Bedroom was comfortable, bathroom was much the same. Nothing amazing, considering these are among the top suites at the hotel and cost us €365 per night in early September. The choice of refreshments in the room was poor. No English or French breakfast tea, no milk, no proper cups. Why do these types of hotels, especially of this standard, feel that by providing paper/plastic cups, with paper stirrers, it's acceptable. What is wrong with a nice china cup / mug from which to drink with proper silverware? No air conditioning, no ceiling fans. I would not wish to stay here in the heat of summer. The bar area was well furnished and opened out on to the garden. However, it felt uncared for. No fresh flowers. Lounge cushions left all dented from where other guest had sat. Drinks left on the tables. Dirty windows. Dining room had recently re-opened after modernisation. It was bright, clean, fresh in appearance. Service was okey, nothing special, same with the food. Fish soup was very tasty, pate de foie gras and the lamb shank both very appetising. The Monkfish was very small in its proportions and the french fries we ordered never arrived. Cheese plate was plentiful - order one and share, it is more than enough. No turn down - which surprised us, given it was a 4 star hotel. We had left wet towels on the floor, which had not been replaced, as we thought they might, so had to switch the towel rail on full to dry them ready for the morning use! Breakfast was interesting - The dining room was half full, lots of tables laid ready, so we were shown to the only table not laid!! We had to sit there while it was laid in front of us. Why? I guess as we were two people, and the laid tables were for four, the staff could not be bothered to relay them!!! It's a Buffett breakfast. Fresh orange juice was empty at 9;34 and never refilled. The choice was okey, but again nothing special. No menu to choose from it was buffet or leave it. Staff in general at both dinner as well as breakfast were not that friendly, my partner speaks good French and on several occasions tried to engage in conversation, given the restaurant was half full, but nothing. It was like it was all too much trouble. We were surpris
