Joy Island is at least our 9th Maledivien resort so we have a bit of experience. We initially had reservations about an artificially built and young island, especially as the official photos showed very young greenery. And a Maldives island without enough shade can quickly become a nightmare if you have fair skin. Book the sunrise side of the island if you want more shade around your beach villa or the sunset side if you prefer to enjoy full sun until the evening. But the reality took away all our worries: the experienced management has managed to bring all the good things together here. Lots of beach areas, plenty of sunbeds, sufficient water depth for swimming, a pool with plenty of sunbathing space around it (which can certainly be extended towards the beach later), non-intrusive entertainment (musical, sporting, culinary), lots of water sports activities - or simply heavenly peace and relaxation. Here, everyone will find their ‘dream holiday’ plus culinary delights. Countless types of bread that rival a German bakery, original brand paste from Italy, lots of fresh fish and our own cheese dairy and milk processing plant that produces its own yoghurt and mozzarella as well as ice cream! We have never experienced this before, as the nearest cow is located in Australia, so dairy products are otherwise non-existent in the Maldives. Apart from the refrigerated ‘dessert room’, where the latest cake creations and calorie sins await every day (I don't usually take photos of food, but the cakes show the effort that the staff make, because you can serve your guests a lot of easy-to-make desserts), everything in the market restaurant is processed as little as possible, making it a delicious, fresh and healthy cuisine. The guests are a mix of many nationalities, as are the staff. Thanks to Karim (Egypt), Zuzu (Tunisia), Destiny (Nepal), Davide (Italy), the great Rainbow Bar team and all the other friendly staff who made our holiday so enjoyable. And one thing was also important to us after we experienced a harsh reality on another island in this regard. On Joy Island, the employees are paid (and not simply kept on the island without pay) and they actually receive the service charge that the guest pays. Because a holiday can only be a good one if it is not at the expense of others. We will be back as soon as possible and wish the island and its management continued success. You just got new fans!
