Hôtel des Halles

AVOID. They are inefficient and have overcharged me. I was previously booked in another hotel, and was moved to this one. I now have been billed for the first hotel that was overbooked PLUS this hotel, who got my credit card details from the other hotel and they have used this not just for my room but for 2 others without my permission. I am now claiming a refund via my credit card company. AVOID. Inefficient and refusing to help.

Moden rooms with all the usual amenities - a little bit soul less - but good walking distance to centre of Dijon - which is a very nice town and worth a visit. Breakfast was fine at 13 Euros. Very friendly and helpful receptionist. A good hotel for our overnight stay at a reasonable cost. Parking available 5 mins walk away.

A great place, a warm welcome from the receptionist and a perfect stay – what else do you expect. The rooms are spacious enough, the bed is cozy and the cleaning of the rooms was well done. The hotel ground is very nice and the patio for breakfast is a big plus. Unfortunately the hotel management has a weird policy for the two patios and where the breakfast can be served. Since there are two spacious areas only one is opened in the morning for sitting outside. Since most of the guests wanted to go outside the tables were occupied quite soon. Instead of opening the other patio are getting told that that one is only for having a quick coffee. This policy does not make sense at all and also other guests which arrived later than us did not understand why tables outside should stay empty when both patios are close to the kitchen. That missing logic leads us to decrease the number of giving 5 points in TripAdvisor. The breakfast itself is okay but there is not a huge choice compared to other buffets we had in the past for the same money. One choice of juice, small bread choice, no eggs. Slightly disappointing. However, the location of the hotel is a big plus to discover Dijon. So 4 points out of 5 can be given.

My wife and I selected this hotel for an overnight stay while driving back through France on our way home. It was a great choice. Recently renovated and very comfortable. It is located a five minute walk to an area where there are many restaurants. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Secure underground parking is available again a five minute walk from the hotel. A good continental breakfast is served and can be taken on a pleasant outside patio. We wouldn't hesitate about staying here should we be in Dijon again.

This is a nice hotel, although the air conditioning struggled to keep the temperature down, and we had an odd noise, probably a pump related to the water/shower systems, which we failed to get the staff to look into with any great enthusiasm. It went off repeatedly during the night. We had got a "superior' room, which we assumed would mean it was better than some of the standard rooms. It turned out to mean just that it was a tiny bit bigger, hardly noticeable. Also, the door to the bathroom/toilet, was a wooden, sliding door, that did not lock properly into position, so no sound proofing and barely visual privacy, as the door did not properly cover the opening to the bathroom when in the 'closed' position. Otherwise, it was a nice room, well appointed, and the staff were helpful, providing us with ice in the evenings - we were surprised that a 'superior' room did not have a fridge. And breakfast was really good, in a nice dining room, with an option to take breakfast outside on the terrace, albeit menaced by wasps! It was a good location, on a tram route which went to the station, saving us the cost and hassle of a taxi when we left.

We only stayed one night in the hotel des halles but we enjoyed our overnight stay! The hotel was easy to find with our GPS and we were allowed to park in front of the hotel so we could take our luggage to our room.We then were directed to the secure underground car park nearby which cost €10 per night.Its only a short easy walk back from the public car park back to the hotel.Both staff we encountered at reception were welcoming friendly and helpful especially the young lady who checked us in upon arrival.Our superior room was light and functional and the bathroom looked really nice too.A wide screen tv on the wall allows you to watch tv in bed.The air conditioning was really efficient and easy to operate and kept our room to a pleasant temperature all day and night which was a real bonus in 36o plus temperature outside!We walked around the old Dijon in the afternoon and to our favourite restaurant (highly recommend l’Edito in Place Darcy)in the evening and the hotel is within a short walk (15mn) to everything ie the old Dijon ,a good selection of shops and restaurants too! Small minus was the seal on the shower door wasn’t very water tight at the bottom so let water leak on the floor but nothing major though. Only thing we didn’t like was the breakfast choice which is a bit poor including mini croissants that weren’t tasty which is surprising for France which is a shame as the outdoor courtyard mini garden at the back offers a lovely al fresco space to eat breakfast and feels like a little peaceful oasis in the centre of the city.We will definitely rebook this hotel next time we’re in Dijon!
