Hotel Dumaguete

I really wanted to love this hotel. It has so much potential. However,  the constant barking during the night from dogs on the adjacent property is overwhelming. Poor quality windows make it seem like the dogs are barking in your room. If you value your sleep, stay somewhere else.

From the moment we arrived until departure, the staff exceeded our expectations. The hotel's management team is clearly dedicated to ensuring guest satisfaction. The rooms were spotless, and the facilities were well-maintained. Scenic views and proximity to local landmarks made our stay unforgettable. Thank you Hotel Dumaguete, we will never forget our stay ❤️

The ambiance is great and the area is accessible to nearby restaurants. The room itself is nice and clean. Not to mention the bed super comfortable to sleep in. Definitely a place I could return to. 😌

They have the most accommodating people. They were very helpful and generous of their time. Free airport/ferry shuttle is a plus. They even offered us to make a stop at the souvenir shop before taking us to the airport. Place is clean, food is also delicious. They also gave us a welcome drink. Overall, it was a pleasant stay. Will definitely go back when we have the chance.

I like to go green but not when that is the reason guests are not provided with basic amenities like toothpaste/toothbrush; coffee & water is in a common pantry. It is difficult to call front desk because there is no intercom. You have a tablet to send a message to front desk that is not user friendly if it’s working. Bathroom is tight for 2. Design of shower stall is not good - bathroom gets wet every time you shower. For the price, it’s disappointing

The positives first. Rooms are clean and fairly modern. Staff is generally friendly and professional. Now the negatives unfortunately. The hotel is located on a busy bus and truck route making it incredibly noisy. Secondly, there is an open air pool hall located directly in front of the hotel. The stay open until 0130 7days a week pumping loud incredibly bad music all night long. God forbid it’s the weekend then you are guaranteed little if any sleep. Third toilet paper is on demand! Yes you heard that right you have to request it. Fourth, beds are not supplied with a top sheet. Just a bottom bed sheet and a thin comforter. I found that very disturbing especially when watching the contracted laundry service taking out dirty linen and bringing in clean stock. Towels and single bottom sheets only. Not one comforter left or arrived. I even double checked to see if I was mistaken. Unfortunately I wasn’t wrong. It could mean only one thing the comforter next to your skin you are sleeping under wasn’t cleaned or replaced from the last guest. Fifth, the hotel is nowhere near the city center or the boulevard. It’s actually located up towards north point. Long walk to the boulevard. Sixth, check out surprise! Before you are allowed to actually check out and exit the premises they require you to sit and wait while they do a room inventory. Every guest is required to go through it. There are serious trust issues going on here. I’ve only seen this procedure in one other small hotel in Dumagete. Every guest is viewed as a potential thief. Don’t get insulted and have to wait 15 minutes for the room inventory. Just ask if your bill is paid in full and leave. When they say it’s their policy and you can’t leave just smile and tell them it isn’t your policy and out the door you go! Seventh, nothing like standing in front of the hotel when the hotel van driver walks right next to you and proceeds to urinate right in the landscaping. Professionalism at its finest.

I love this new Hotel Dumaguete. It’s got an environmentally-friendly and contemporary design with artworks by local artists at every corner. But what impressed me the most was their impeccable customer service, the front desk staff and the entire breakfast crew (including Joy) were very friendly and attentive. Above all, they were all very swift and efficient at providing help. I had an unfortunate medical emergency one morning… the hotel had a van with a driver at the ready and the guard even carried me to the van! (Side note: calling for an ambulance in the Philippines is rarely the quickest way to get you to hospital). Long story short, they brought me to ER at the university hospital in time and I was able to get the urgent medical help that I needed. I was discharged late that evening and it was a pleasant surprise to see a basket of fruits with a get well card in my room from the hotel staff and management. Team Hotel Dumaguete, I cannot thank you enough for your kindness! Daghang Salamat gyud!
