Absolutely beautiful place, the room was amazing and the service amazing. I spoke with Wendy when I booked and I'd mentioned it was our anniversary and my birthday and there were lovely banners and baloons on the bed such a personal touch. The bed was super comfy and we even had breakfast in bed and the food was amazing . Can't wait to go back, loved the bath and the hot tub.

Was not my first choice but booked this hotel for my graduation at Durham University since all other hotels are fully booked. The hotel is relatively old but clean and has all the amenities needed (including an iron and the ironing board). Nice and friendly staff at the reception, who kindly assisted with the printing of some documents. Good location because it is within walking distance from the Durham Cathedral and the campus

This is a great place to stay! The staff are very kind and helpful, the rooms are wonderful - lots of power points in useful places! - and the location is lovely, close to the railway station, a short walk into the centre and some beautiful riverside walks. I’ll definitely be back.

Excellent stay, room,, restaurants,, staff friendly help full, the spa very enjoyable. One big draw back you only get one hour on your arrival day. I've never had that in any hotel it should be at least two hours. On checking out morning you have till 11am. In all a very pleasant stay 😊

We booked for a family party in the north. You know what you are going to get from a premier inn - but this one I would say is more. Even the decor is like some posher hotels ( had an ivy feel to it) As we booked in advance the cost for the upgrade wasn't that much more than the normal if you paid in advance and don't cancel so thought I'd go for it ! In the end we paid £7 more than my sister. Check in was great a proper northern welcome - you could do it all your self but they talked you through it and made sure knew everything we needed too. Room for was a premier plus - huge room with a king bed, coffee machine, fridge and chocolates ! Bar area was great - very trendy, and we had a few drinks before and after we went out - great selection of drinks and even my favourite wine ! Discount for parking was a bonus ! Overall great location, spotless and friendly will definitely be back.

Really enjoyed our stay at Bannatyne Durham. The room was very clean and well set out with all amenities. The staff were also very helpful on arrival allowing us to check in way before formal check in time. The location is great, just a few minutes off the A1(M) giving great links, the bus stop is just at the end of the road giving access to the very regular bus services into the city centre. Also a large retail park next door. Would have preferred a proper double bed rather than the two singles put together. Main issue was the shower which only had half the screen and had a slow drain. Also find, which isn’t unique to this hotel, that the hotel is significantly overheated which combined with an excessively thick duvet made for a difficult night’s sleep. We booked directly which gave us access to the gym and pool for no additional cost. The gym was a little dated (needing new kit) and gym changing rooms weren’t the cleanest. Overall, very good value for the price paid. Would also stay again.
