My wife and I had a wonderful two night stay. Fantastic value and high quality food - all served with caring staff. The fish and chips were outstanding and Gluten Free options in abundance. We’ll be back as the location was perfect and the bar was busy.

We held our small wedding for 20 people here. We wanted a typically Yorkshire Country venue with bedrooms for our guests from down south to stay at, and this was the ideal place for us. As locals, it has a homely country feel when we visit. We booked 4 rooms for 8 of our guests who said the rooms were beautifully decorated and very comfortable. All individually decorated. We had a meal for 22 in the restaurant in the afternoon after our wedding ceremony (held in Northallerton), and spent the remainder of the afternoon and evening sat outside in the sun with drinks from the bar in the outside seating area facing the market place. Our guests chose from an individual menu designed for our Yorkshire themed wedding by the chef. The choice of food on the menu was delicious and difficult to choose from it sounded so good. We made our choices on line prior to the day on a self booking system which was very easy to navigate around. The food did not disappoint and was amazing. All our guests commented on what a fine dining experience it was and that they would remember this wedding for the great food. The staff were wonderful; leading up to our day with attention to detail with all we requested, to our guests staying at the hotel checking out of the hotel 2 days later. I cannot praise Paul the manager and his team enough, for being fantastic hosts and the friendly attentive service . What a great team everything was perfect. Everyone at the George made our small, intimate wedding a magical day. I would thoroughly recommend this venue for a special celebration. Keep up the amazing work!

We booked into the George for a night. From walking in the door we had a lovely warm welcome from the staff. Our room was really nice with a lovely comfy bed. We booked into the restaurant for our evening meal. it was extremely busy but well managed. Our food was amazing, along with great service. The breakfast the next morning was 2nd to none, all great produce, and again, well cooked. We would not hesitate to return and hope to soo. Such a lovely friendly place.

Lovely Sunday lunch as always, very friendly and helpful staff Was very busy with it being mother's day but they made some garlic bread especially for my little boy cos that's what he wanted even though not on the menu Service efficient too thank you

We booked a table in the restaurant at The George for 5 of us as a family get together on Friday 11th Feb. Such pleasant staff and the service was exceptional, we were treated with care and friendly smiles throughout our time there. The gentleman that took care of us in the restaurant was so professional and extremely obliging. The meal was fantastic, really great quality and very sensible prices. We will definitely be returning! If you are looking for somewhere comfortable and welcoming with great food this is your place!

Stayed here over the xmas period. The room, welcome and attention to detail was 5 star. Food is also excellent and would certainly stay here again. Location is handy for visiting York and many other popular locations.

We stayed here for a one night pre-Chris**as trip with our adult daughters. Overall it was a very enjoyable and positive experience. All four of us were happy with our evening meals, two courses each, and were very satisfied that dietary requirements (vegan) had been met as previously requested. We were very nicely situated at the front bay window, looking out at the market place. Service throughout was pleasant and efficient, the only slight issue was that the starters arrived before our initial drinks. Service at breakfast was also very pleasant, and offered a great selection of food. Of our two different bedrooms, one (10) felt to be recently refurbished, our own however (4) did feel somewhat tired and dated, with some minor issues of maintenance (bathroom shelf and toilet flush handle). All the beds were comfortable, if a little soft, and with spotless sheets. Our shower was very effective, but the girls' took a long while to give out hot water. Arrival was a little frenetic, with a very busy bar and no obvious point to report in, but were were quickly attended to by the accommodation manager. We were shown to our room by one of the bar staff, and were disappointed to find that our room had not been pre-heated, and we had to work out for ourselves how to operate the bathroom heater. The other room however was warm on arrival. Our memorable and enjoyable visit was enhanced of course by being in Easingwold, one of our favourite towns in England, particularly at this festive season, when we were happy to patronise other local businesses, both cafes and shops.
