A-Haven Townhouse Hotel

A very nice little hotel. Good breakfest and nice staff. A little bit off center so calm and quiet. Clean room with a good bed. Near bus-stops so easy to get around. And not so far out then it`s possible to walk in to town. I can recomend a stay as it`s well worth the money

This guesthouse is a hidden treasure for travellers who want to experience Edinburgh at an affordable rate, and enjoy the charm of a classic Victorian building with beautiful period features. David and his team could not have been more gracious or welcoming, and were so attentive to our comfort during our stay. From advice on where to catch the bus into town to suggestions for a walk to the local harbour, they truly helped to make our stay a relaxing and enjoyable experience. They noted the reason for our visit (a concert at the castle) and were kind enough to show an interest in how it had gone the next day. The Scottish breakfast, with locally sourced ingredients, was absolutely delicious! The tea and toast just kept coming and we didn’t need to eat lunch on either of the two days we stayed. Room 5 has a wonderful bay window with a view onto the front garden, and is a really lovely place to sit with a cup of tea after a long day. The bus into the city centre only costs £5 for a day ticket or £2 for a single trip and takes about 15-20 minutes. It’s ideal if you want easy access in a quieter location, with a regular service every 15 minutes. We were truly sorry to have to leave and are now busy making plans to return :) Thank you David. You and your team are lovely people and a credit to the hotelier business.

Another fabulous 2-night stay at the cosy and friendly A Haven Townhouse - we were in one of the cute “cottages” in the grounds, super easy access, especially when returning in the evening. Usual fabulous breakfast with Ian’s famous poached eggs cooked to perfection - I honestly don’t know how he does it! Thank you again to David, Ian, Steven & Jane for your warm hospitality - see you on Nera one day…

David was the most delightful host one could wish for. Too bad we didn't have more time to talk with him. The bed was ultra comfortable; the location was perfect for our itinerary; and the breakfast was delicious, although way more than a person could eat! I would stay here again if ever we return to Edinburgh.

Lovely little gem of a place. We booked on the off chance we could find something reasonable to spend a weekend away in December for my partners birthday, and usually Edinburgh and reasonable (in terms of price) do not usually go together, but this was such a good bargain and in a great location. We didn’t have much time here, but this place is great if you want to do Leith but there are bus tops literally on our doorstep into Princes Street and can easily get to the zoo etc. It’s a traditional old building, the host and the staff were so friendly and lovely to us, and made my partner feel really special for his birthday. It is free secure parking for guests, and David allowed us to leave our car after we had checked out so we could head into the city and make the most of our day before a long drive home. The breakfast was fantastic and we even got talking to some lovely fellow guests who were regulars so it gave the place a really personal feel. We will be booking again next time we visit Edinburgh 100%

This B&B is located in Newhaven, quite a way from central Edinburgh in a residential area with bus routes into the centre of the city. The building itself, is very ‘old school’, but very friendly staff. Our room was perfectly acceptable albeit tired and old fashioned, but that was to be expected from the age of the building. We had a good nights sleep, and a very pleasant breakfast. We went out to dinner in the evening by taxi, as we were advised parking fees are high. The taxi to our restaurant was circa £15 each way….be prepared!
