We just had a visit here, upon arrival parked outside the front door, the member of staff in the back very helpfully explained and showed how we could get to the little car park round the back. We were allowed to check in a bit earlier before stated 4pm which was great. We sat down for lunch and were allowed to pick our own table, the food was absolutely delicious, we loved the Chinese style chicken they do with the egg fried rice, gorgeous! There was plenty on thr menu. The room was easy to find and was lovely and warm the whole time! The outside view is of the back street car park but we didn't mind. Bed very comfy, plenty of toiletries and hot drink making facilities, and as a bonus there is even a fridge and microwave, very handy! Decor is perhaps a little dated in some areas but we didn't mind at all. Very good value price for the room. It was a bit awkward trying to plug the bedside lamp in alongside all the other plugged devices, a couple of things had to be jigged about, but no bother. We had a great night out in the local area, more fun than we expected, and the local people went out of their way to show friendliness to us and our dog. The chef here was also very friendly towards our dog Patch, who got a generous few chunks of turkey! Definitely would recommend 👌 thanks guys

Went to the restaurant last night. Told waiter about my allergies, Chef came out and spoke to me and put my mind at ease. This was a nice personal touch you don't get in many places. Food was Beautiful. Portions a bit big if in honest.Food was served quickly and effectively. Will definitely return. Well done

We booked one nights accommodation at Maqs Bistro. On the day of arrival we were notified that we were not staying at Maqs Bistro but a completely different address. When we arrived all windows were open despite being a cold day. On closing the windows, the smell of damp was overpowering. Within 5 minutes, it triggered an asthma attack. We contacted the owners but are still waiting a response as we had to leave due to the smell of damp. In addition the bedding had hairs of the last occupant and empty toiletries bottles, obviously hadn't even been cleaned. This was the first time I have ever not stayed in the booked accommodation-AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Wonderful visit. We came for the crab fair weekend. We had a lovely lunch. Stayed over in their lovely spacious accommodation and also had dinner. We have visited 5 star hotels across the world and felt so well catered for with the food and service. A quiet ambiance but super attentive service and excellent food x

After a long day at the beach me and a large group of friends stopped by for some lunch, welcomed at the door by a pleasant man who accommodated us regardless of the size of our table. Fast arriving, delicious food that left us all full. 11/10 would come again!

Location Great Surrounded by pubs and food outlets Room -ok nice enough Customer Service -non existant I arrived at 16:30 to a locked door with no answer, i rang the number and no answer. Reached out on their fb site with no answer. I had driven for 4 hours and done a days graft after it. I wanted a shower and change. After trying on *********** for an hour to contact the owners... i got a reply on fb Messenger with instructions on how to get in. Bizzare way of working.. Once in i stayed for 2 nights without seeing a single person. I wanted to see someone to complain about the loud banging pipes and boiler which were so loud i struggled to sleep. On night 2 i took some ear plugs bk with me hoping for a chance at sleeping that night but it was still too loud. I rated this hotel a 2 but thats a sympathetic 2 because of the location.

We have never noticed this restaurant before, even though it is on the main street in Egremont. It has a well stocked bar with an excellent house red Malbec and friendly staff. We didn’t take our doggies but now we know it is dog friendly, we shall on our next visit. Hubby ordered garlic prawns (on the Specials Board) to start and then the Hunter’s Chicken and chips. I ordered the Pork Tomahawk with mash. The sauce was delicious and the large selection of side vegetables were cooked to perfection. Hubby said they were amongst the best homemade chips he’s eaten. The portions were huge and we’ve wolfed down the take home leftovers for lunch. Even the nibbles and dip were unexpected and the tastiest we’ve had. 5* restaurant and service. We will be back!

Had a fantastic evening meal at the Cat Inn. Specials Menu is different to most local offerings, well thought out and perfectly crafted. Beautiful food at a very reasonable price and wonderful service. Highly recommended

Was on a day trip out and decided to do something other than a Wetherspoons for lunch. Lady in a local shop said the Cat was really good. Sadly service was very slow despite being quite empty. The food was OK, but overpriced for the venue/location. Shame as decent pubs seem thin on the ground these days.
