New Year's Day - January 1

New Year’s Day marks the first day of the new Gregorian year. It is an important time for people to reflect on the past year and look forward to the year ahead.

Various celebrations take place across China:

  • Some cities will host New Year’s Day performances in public squares or parks, including singing, dancing, and skits.
  • People gather with family and enjoy delicious food, like making dumplings.
  • Many also travel to popular tourist attractions to kick-start the new year.

❤️On New Year's Day, you can visit these recommended cities:

  • Beijing: As China’s capital, Beijing boasts a rich history and culture. On New Year's Day, the Forbidden City looks even more serene and mysterious with the snow, offering a glimpse of ancient times.
  • Xi'an: Known as the ancient capital of thirteen dynasties, Xi'an offers a deep cultural heritage. Climb the Ancient City Wall and experience the grandeur of Chang'an in its prime.

Traveling to Beijing for a business trip, I needed a hotel close to Tiananmen Square and 1949 The Hidden City (Quanjude). As an InterContinental Platinum member, I used to stay at the Regent, but now I've switched to the Legendale. The location is excellent, it offers great value for money, and I was pleasantly surprised with a suite upgrade. The amenities in the room are high quality, no expense spared, giving off a vibe of upward mobility. The breakfast fruit was delicious, and the room itself was very well-maintained. My only minor complaint is that the hairdryer isn't a newer model; I hope they can update it soon.

Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by Aria at the front desk. She was incredibly helpful with my luggage and made the check-in process incredibly smooth and efficient. She even thoughtfully reminded me of breakfast times and elevator locations. Her soft-spoken and detailed service, coupled with her genuine hospitality, truly made a fantastic first impression – the front desk service alone deserves five stars! Such a pleasant welcome made my stay very comfortable, and I'll definitely choose to stay here again next time.

Always excellent, as expected! 👍 This is a big state-owned brand, and the manager personally helped carry our luggage, truly treating us like family! For team-building meetings or family trips, this is the only place to go! I also really appreciate the decor style here; it feels so much more welcoming. Those other hotels with too much glass, stainless steel, and gray decor might look modern, but they just don't have the rich, authentic Old Beijing cultural vibe that this place offers! These are my honest feelings! Definitely a top rating!

Here I am again, after less than a month! This time I even braved a heavy downpour to get here. My flight circled over Beijing for an hour before landing, so I didn't get to the hotel until after midnight. It was another one of those check-in and check-out on the same day trips. I was already feeling pretty groggy, but thankfully, Bella at the front desk was incredibly warm and enthusiastic. She handled everything super quickly and thoughtfully, getting me checked in no time. Once I got to the room, I even bothered the staff to open and close the window for me. They made two trips late at night – I'm really grateful, though I regret not catching their names. This time, my room had an even better view! When I woke up in the morning, the sun was even out, and my mood instantly brightened, just like the weather. I got back late from lunch, but luckily, they extended my check-out time. By the way, I once again ran into the ever-elegant Ms. Rose Xiao. She checked out my room card for me at the very last minute. This trip was truly a whirlwind. As expected, after the storm, there's always sunshine! (I hope I got both employees' names right; I always worry about misspelling them.)

Due to a typhoon, my bullet train was cancelled, so I ended up staying an extra night at the hotel. This unexpected extension allowed me to visit attractions I originally didn't have time for, which was a pleasant surprise. I was initially worried about extending my stay in the same room at the last minute, but booking the extension through Trip.com was incredibly smooth! I even had a chance to interact with the big white geese in the small garden 😊😊😊. This hotel is great, I really like it!

1. **Incredibly thoughtful service:** During check-in, the staff proactively noted my needs and upgraded me for free to a high-floor city view room. The floor-to-ceiling windows offered an expansive view, perfect for watching the city sunset in the evening, creating a wonderful ambiance. 2. **Exceptional attention to detail and care:** The room included a special ID card protector, which is great for keeping documents safe from wear and tear. Inside the closet, there was a gas mask with clear instructions, ensuring safety during my stay. 3. **Hardware perfectly suited for business needs:** The room was spacious, and the bathroom featured a wet and dry separation. The bedding was soft, and I could choose from various pillow types. The soundproofing was excellent, ensuring privacy for work discussions and undisturbed rest at night.

Overall, a five-star review – I really love this hotel. I'm a foreign tourist and I've traveled to over thirty provinces and ninety cities across China. I've stayed at this hotel multiple times and have also recommended it to my friends and family. The hotel's biggest advantage is its excellent hygiene. The rooms are spotless, and the bathrooms are equipped with smart toilets, which as a foreigner, I particularly appreciate. I do have two issues I'd like to bring to the hotel's attention: First, the takeaway delivery policy. For food safety reasons, the hotel doesn't allow robots to deliver food to guest rooms, so I have to go downstairs to pick it up every time I order. Several times, by the time I get my food, it's already completely cold. Sometimes, it's really inconvenient to go downstairs to pick up food right after showering. My suggestion to the hotel is this: You could prepare a food safety waiver. Guests who voluntarily sign it would acknowledge and accept the food safety risks themselves, allowing robots to deliver food to their rooms. This would both maintain the hotel's management requirements and be more convenient for guests. Second, the bathroom scale in my room is broken and inaccurate. I weigh 180 jin, but the scale showed only 40 jin – the numbers are completely off. Aside from these two minor issues, the hotel is five-star worthy in every other aspect. If these problems can be improved in the future, I will definitely bring my family back to stay here often.

I booked a luxury king room for one night. Ctrip stated the room size was 40-45 square meters, but realistically, room 2129 felt more like 20 square meters at best. There's no way it was 40-45 square meters; I feel like I completely wasted over 1400 RMB. The bathroom didn't have a bathtub, only a shower and toilet. The sink area was also tiny, not even big enough to put a makeup bag on. For a room costing over 1400 RMB with breakfast included, it felt more like a 3 or 4-star hotel in the 400-600 RMB range the moment I walked in. My business partners have offices in this building, and international colleagues have stayed here before. This hotel is also on the pricier side compared to others in the area, so I thought it would be very upscale. I chose to stay here the night before an early meeting nearby, but the overall experience was quite poor. The room size and facilities are not comparable to other five-star hotels at all. Furthermore, the bar right next to the front desk on the first floor was incredibly noisy at night, like a street food stall, completely lacking the ambiance expected of a five-star hotel. I'm not sure what this hotel's positioning is. The air conditioning in the room was extremely loud, making it almost impossible to sleep with it on. The curtains also had very poor blackout, and I was woken up at 5 AM by the light leaking through. Moreover, when an international colleague stayed here, they mentioned the air conditioning might not have been cleaned, as they started coughing on the second day and were later diagnosed with a lung infection. I strongly recommend the hotel clean its air conditioning regularly and promptly, and provide accurate room information to avoid misleading consumers!

The biggest highlight of the Xinqiao Hotel is its extremely convenient location – directly opposite Chongwenmen Subway Station (where Lines 2 and 5 intersect). It's incredibly easy to get to Wangfujing, Tiananmen Square, and Beijing Railway Station by subway or bus. Plus, there are malls like New World nearby. However, the facilities are indeed quite dated. After all, it's an old hotel that opened in 1954, and some rooms have dim lighting. Some room types are windowless, which can feel a bit stuffy if you haven't confirmed beforehand. I personally recommend getting a room with a window. In summary, if location and transportation convenience are your top priorities and you're fine with the older style of an established hotel, this is a hassle-free choice!

The location is very convenient, just a few minutes' walk from Wangfujing. There are many snack shops, restaurants and a few hair salons next to and in front of the hotel. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, assisting us with hailing a taxi and showing us how to get to the various attractions. The hotel even provided a small map to guide us on foot to and from the Palace Museum. Very special is this hotel very family friendly, the have connecting room for the family to stay in, for us, we can take care of our girls without open the door and go to another room. The daily housekeeping was very thorough. The female housekeeper responsible for our rooms 715 and 716 was particularly friendly, attentive, and responsible. My daughter accidentally spilled soy milk on the carpet and bed; I informed her, and she promised to handle it. When we returned to the room that evening, the carpet and bed were spotless, without any smell or stains. We were very satisfied with the hotel's service. We will stay in this hotel again when we go to Beijing again.

Fantastic hotel! 1) It's right opposite the subway station, which makes getting around incredibly convenient. 2) The room, though small, was spotlessly clean, and the bedding was super comfortable. The pillows, in particular, were those wonderful memory foam ones – I slept like a baby all night. The toiletries were also very comprehensive: hand soap, shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner were all provided. 3) The service was exceptional, making me feel right at home. Plus, there were complimentary drinks in the fridge! Overall, great value for money.

My stay here was excellent! The hotel is in a fantastic location – quiet yet central, making it super convenient for getting around. The room was spacious, well-equipped, and very bright, and it was spotlessly clean. The bedding was so soft and comfortable, I slept like a baby. The common areas were clean and tastefully decorated, and the front desk staff were incredibly patient and attentive, answering all my questions. Overall, the service was thoughtful and top-notch. This stay exceeded my expectations! The location is fantastic – shopping areas and attractions are all within walking distance, making transportation a breeze and saving a lot of hassle. The biggest surprise was the hotel's intangible cultural heritage experience program. The instructor was very detailed in their explanation, and the hands-on creation of traditional crafts felt incredibly ceremonial. It was both relaxing and a great way to experience local culture, suitable for both adults and children. The accompanying gym is also worth mentioning; the space is clean and well-ventilated, equipped with a full range of cardio and strength training machines. A workout there really helps shake off travel fatigue. The room was clean and comfortable, and the service was thoughtful and attentive. Highly recommend!

While there was an initial misunderstanding due to a hygiene concern which caused distress on our first night stay that I had to escalate the matter through Trip.com, the hotel manager turned the experience around. The night before check-out, we had a genuine and positive conversation at the lobby. She was humble and openly acknowledged her shortcomings and appreciated for helping her learn and grow as a leader. Good to know that a manager willing to take accountability and desire to improve. Every hotel staff we have interacted with are professional and friendly. Aside from the good service recovery, we loved the hotel's convenience: 1. Siji Minfu Peking Roast Duck Restaurant (四季民福) is next to the hotel along with other food options in the same stretch. 2. The hotel is perfectly located within walking distance to Wangfujing Pedestrian Street (shopping and food). 3. The fun robot that delivers food right to our doorstep! The hotel also prepared light snacks for our airport journey. Overall, this hotel is highly recommended!

My friend stayed at this hotel two years ago when they visited Beijing and recommended it to me. Before my trip, I booked and canceled a couple of times because some online reviews weren't great, which made me hesitate. But in the end, I decided to stick with it. I stayed for four consecutive nights. The check-in staff and the concierge at the entrance were very welcoming. The short-haired cleaning aunt on my floor kept the room very clean and was also very friendly. The breakfast was good too. When I checked out, they didn't ask me to write a positive review, but I was so glad I chose this place after experiencing it myself. Oh, and the views from the rooms are beautiful. This is the view from my room; my friend's room overlooked a traditional Beijing *hutong*.

I chose Nuo Hotel for my birthday this year, and I was pleasantly surprised when the front desk wished me a happy birthday during check-in. They upgraded me to an executive floor, which was beautifully decorated with a great ambiance, and the view from the window was also lovely. I drove here this time, and at checkout, I wasn't proactively informed about parking fee waivers or anything similar. So, I had to go down to the garage and then come back to the front desk to inquire.

Pros: The hotel's location is pretty good, with plenty of dining options nearby and within a 10-minute walk to the subway station. Cons: Food delivery was too slow; the delivery robot was idle, and my food wasn't delivered. The room lighting was a bit dim. The shower curtain in the bathroom didn't feel very clean; I'd suggest using a glass film instead. The mattress was slightly smaller than the bed frame, making it easy to bump my legs. When booking through Ctrip, it showed breakfast included, but if you book for two consecutive days, it's only for one day. Be sure to check the booking page, as I had to pay extra for breakfast. This wouldn't be an issue if booked separately. The lobby lounge area has been converted into a tea shop, leaving limited seating. Even if you can sit there, it feels awkward for guests just trying to relax.

My child chose this hotel for their college entrance exam because of its proximity to Luhe High School. We were very satisfied with all aspects of the hotel's service throughout the exam period. The front desk staff were warm and attentive, even delivering takeout directly to our room. The cleaning staff were also very thoughtful. The hotel also offered a refrigerator for storing items, and ice was provided for cold drinks. The freshly ground coffee from the front desk was also very fragrant and refreshing. Most of the guests during the exam period were students and parents, and the environment was very quiet, which was conducive to students studying and resting.

Excellent location near Tiananmen, Forbidden City and Wangfujing (all walkable). Subway just 10 mins away on foot, bus stop right outside with the major sight seeing lines. No breakfast provided but there’s enough food places around and an in house cafe. Room is clean and well sized, good for 2 big luggage open on the floor with space to walk and a large closet. Shampoo/ bath gel, slippers, toothbrushes provided. Shower has good water pressure although curtain is short so water tends to get out of the bath area, nothing a towel can’t solve. Shoutout to the front desk staff (Miss Tian/Liu/Zhang/Li) for their friendliness and helpfulness, esp to Miss Li (night desk) for her quick initiative and service recovery after a miscommunication on room cleaning early in our stay. Love the roof terrace. We were on the first floor and felt that the soundproofing was good.

Food deliveries are brought directly to your room by a robot, which is both convenient and hygienic. The room also has a fresh air system, making the air exceptionally clean.
