Domes Aulus Elounda All-Inclusive Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton

My husband and I visited for two weeks for our Honeymoon! We stayed in Cool Living and the experience was fantastic - beautiful room and stunning views! Some people have complained about the hotel being on a steep hill, but this is like most places in Crete - plus with the amazing views, how can you be surprised by this?! It was great to have a variety of options for places to eat in the Hotel other than a Buffet. Would just advise guests to be sure to book these in advance. The food was lovely and we had no complaints about this. Despite being understaffed, it must be mentioned that the staff were AMAZING! Such friendly people and always did their best to help ensure you had a great experience! I would love to mention all of them individually but a big shout out to Greg (Cool Living Area), Sissy (Concierge) and Vassieiki (Guest Relations) for their impeccable service! Only slight criticism I would have is that some guests who were not part of Cool Living, were using Cool Living space in terms of beds etc. As you pay extra for this benefit, I think there should be a way that this can be checked. Overall, we will definitely be back - FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE! Please do take some reviews with a pinch of salt - people can be hard to please and want to look for anything to complain about.

There are two parts to the hotel: cool inclusive and cool living. We stayed in the cool living section in a sapphire zen suite with outdoor jacuzzi. This is the perspective i will write my review from. The room - we were told by staff that at the beginning of May 2024, the hotel opened up two new room blocks in cool living - both blocks in the 800s. Unknowingly, at our very late check in, we were given one of these rooms. The room smelled really new so we had an inkling. However, on inspection of the room, it’s clear that the newly designed rooms are smaller than the original jacuzzi rooms and the lovely corner jacuzzi on the balcony has been replaced with a small, narrow bath with jets, suitable for one person max, if that! If you book a jacuzzi room, make sure to specify with the hotel that you do not want one of these rooms. We asked to be moved and I don’t think we’re the first people to do so. The new room - in the 700s - was much bigger and better. The jacuzzi was as expected. And we got a sofa in the room as advertised and another on the balcony. Otherwise the room was pleasant. What I will mention is that the housekeeping was very disappointing. In our first room, which we were in for 3 days, housekeeping never came. In the second room, housekeeping was better but it was as simple as the bed being made and floor being mopped around our cases. But there was never turn down service and it was hit and miss whether they replaced your water or not. Wed have to go to the bar to get water for the evening. This is not 5* standard. The food - as part of cool living you get access to the a la carte Greco Levante restaurant. This was a big factor in our booking as we like to eat a la carte. On check in, we were informed that we could only book this restaurant 2 nights in our 7 night stay. This is very disappointing as the food in Greco Levante is a higher standard that the rest of the hotel, there are theme nights you would miss out on. it’s the only three course restaurant and we had paid extra to have this luxury which we no longer were able to have. Very disappointing. The sushi restaurant was extremely high quality. However, we were limited to ordering 3 dishes each and this is not enough. We were left hungry. Why are we paying extra if our food is limited? The amphitheatre which has the pizza and Greek food trucks is a nice idea. The food is very fresh and tasty. However, they only allow you to have one main course and a small dessert in a glass, as it would come from a buffet. I’m on holiday, have paid a lot of money. Why can they not offer starters and sides? Again, we were left hungry. Breakfast in cool living was nice. Disappointing that you had to make your own coffee from a machine. This didn’t make sense when there is a coffee machine at the pool bar at the other end of the restaurant. There is no a la carte breakfast which is ok but disappointing for a 5*. Our first impressions were great, arrived late at night after a swift transfer from the airport. A lovely warm welcome from the receptionist. Very happy with our room, although up a steep hill was fine for us as we’re very mobile. Worth noting if your less able, there are golf buggies to take you up and down. The private beach is great, lovely safe swimming and pool bar, Nikos very helpful and efficient. Plenty of snacks and soft drinks available. We found the buffet excellent, plenty of choice at each sitting very fresh and loads of variety. We booked into the 2 al a carte restaurants but was left underwhelmed by both, didn’t find the quality as good as the buffet. We did eat out 2 evenings too, as we wanted to try authentic Greek cuisine.The biggest let down was the drink/alcohol situation. Now we are not big drinkers but found actually getting a drink from the bar quite a frustrating challenge. The girl taking orders at the bar was forgetful and quite surly if we enquired where our cocktails were after a 25 minute wait. This happened on several occasions & I complained but the situation didn’t improve and we weren’t the only people upset at this situation, after all we paid for all inclusive. After several disappointing evenings in the so called bar, we brought our own wine and sat on the balcony which had more atmosphere than the bar! You seem to be limited to 2 glasses of wine with dinner too, it was very rare we managed to get 3 with our meal. We also struggled to get the coffe pods and milk replaced in our room each day, in the end we purchased a jar of coffee from the supermarket. Overall this is a great hotel but we wouldn’t stay again as we feel we didn’t get the all inclusive we paid for.

The location is phenomenal, and the hotel from initial impressions is wonderful, but you must bring grippy shoes as the accommodation is nestled on a hill. The rooms are small, well furnished with quality beds, super bedding and fluffy towels. We received some lovely touches on arrival, a welcome drink, biscuits and wine in our room, tea and coffee facilities . The Dones”s hotel has three restaurants, two require a booking, which is simple to do on the web after scanning a QR code, you need to book these immediately as they get booked up! The Yellow Sea sushi bar is a top quality 5 star restaurant with attentive staff, fantastic delicious sushi and well worth the tip we left, the amphitheater is a pizza or kebab restaurant, which is far from 5 star, doesn’t match the mediocre kebab shop where we live. We did have some ******* during our stay, which we brought to the attention of the hotel manager, he acknowledged these short comings and rectified them immediately. It was lovely to see how reactive and passionate the hotel was to put these things right. In summary a fantastic location, lovely hotel with some early season finessing to put in place.

We visited this hotel at the beginning of May. Please do not be fooled by the website details and photos on the jet2 website. If you expect luxury don't go. This hotel is more like a poor 3 star. We paid over £5000.00 for a week all inclusive in the cool living section with a wrap around private dip pool. Which looked stunning on the photos however in reality the pool was filthy and cold. See photos. I would like to point out it wasn't just a bit of dirt it looked like it hadn't been cleaned for months and the balcony was filthy. Reported this and it was cleaned 3 days later but pool steps left mouldy and green. The room was basic. No coffee milk ie working TV and room fan on arrival. With dust everywhere. Bed was hard and sheets felt like cardboad. No tiles around tge bath just painted walls stained wit watermarks. The food at this hotel was appauling despite the fact that jet2 said they reviewed the food logs by the hotel and it stated good. We never saw one person testing the heat of the food or quality whilst we was there. Food was cold limited choice. One evening the only deserts on display was a pice of what looked like iced sponge cake. Mouldy fruit on the fruit section see photos. We observed numerous complaints from guests as the reception doubles up as a bar. Guests can sit in the bar area or reception on scruffy tables covered in ring marks. Available drinks where poor quality. Staff were pleasant, the views were amazing. You have to cross a busy road to get to the beach which is small but OK for us as the hotel wasn't full but must become crowded at peak times. Make sure you check the sunloungers before sitting on the somecof them are filthy. It may be an idea to take some sterile wipes if you do go. We complained to management who offered us a 2 day stay for free. I am sorry to say I wouldn't want an hour free. So glad to be home.

First impression was lovely, clean, friendly. When we got their we was welcomed lovely we did get asked for a welcome drink which I said "no" but my husband said "yes" sadly enough we didn't get the welcome drink. Room- was small, air conditioning kept going on and off which we did ask to fix it and they came and fixed it. It felt like the room was diy at some parts especially the bathroom because the door ways where the wood is, was painted black and the paint kept coming off eveytime we showered. The water from the shower was going into the hallway as the plug hole was very small and also its due to surface not being right. Food- I don't know what to say to be honest, this is a complete let down to the hotel! The food buffet 'main restaurant' was very repetitive for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There was a very limted of choice, I am a healthier so I don't mind salad, spaghetti and lasagne every single day! My husband is a very picky eater so he did really struggle and he did miss breakfast on some mornings because he was fed up having the same food every day. Three nights we did eat out from the hotel because we was both bored eating the same thing over and over again! When we got their we managed to book into the restaurant with pizza and kebabs, sadly enough sushi was fully booked for a weeks stay. For me paying so much money for a hotel and it was all inclusive I shouldn't have to go out of my hotel and eat out. I would advise you to put more choice on for the food buffet, and have more of a selection for different cultures/ countries. Also, change the days around for example, fish night, kebab night etc. You really do let yourselves down because of the food. Pool- for someone reason they have painted the pool black?? The side was red hot so you couldn't sit down as it was concrete you just have to jump into the pool. Yes it is freezing but its lovely once you are in their! Just a same it is a little bit boring. Area- the area is lovely with a stunning view, it is walkable to Elounda Town it is about 20/25 mins steady walk. There is benches to sit down along the walk to take a break which we did a couple of times. It is all flat not hilly one bit which I was glad about! I did enjoy the hotel but I would not stay again. I would not put this has a 5× RATING either! The only reason why it is a 5× because of the view but it should not be the case! I would say it is only a 5× rating once you pay that extra for the pool top view and for the premium all inclusive service.

The staff at Domes Aulus Elounda were exceptional. Everyone we encountered was friendly, helpful, and went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Our room was spacious, clean, and had an amazing view of the ocean. The view was breathtaking - we could see the entire bay and the small island of Spinalonga from our balcony. The resort itself was beautiful, with multiple pools, a private beach, and several restaurants. We would definitely recommend this resort

We had an amazing stay at Domes Aulus Elounda! The staff was exceptionally friendly and attentive, making us feel welcomed and cared for throughout our visit. The check-in process was smooth and efficient, setting the tone for a relaxing stay. The resort provides convenient transportation with electric buggies, making it easy to move around the beautiful property. The views from the resort are absolutely breathtaking, offering a perfect backdrop for relaxation.
