Travelodge Exeter M5

There are no lift and it is a challenge if you have large luggage to handle.

I have stayed at Travelodge frequently before, but not the M5 Exeter Services one. I wanted a couple of shopping days in Exeter, and it was such a bargain compared to the city hotel I usually stay in. I thought the building itself was rather old and tired, but the interior was clean and fresh. The staff were lovely - cheerful, helpful and friendly. My room was huge, clean and a big comfortable bed, a choice of pillows and far more wardrobe space than the newer, refitted rooms. The bathroom had a bath in it, which I much prefer, it was clean and light and all that I needed for a 3 night stay. If I have any criticism at all, it would be that the bathroom floor needed a proper clean in the corners by the bath tub, where water had probably overflowed and not been dried. It was incredibly quiet both inside and out. I could vaguely hear the traffic, but it certainly didn't sound like it was literally outside my window (which it was) Free parking too! So I decided to leave the car and get a taxi into the shopping centre. It was just over £10, and so much less stress than driving through the city, desperately looking for parking on a Saturday! Previous reviews had mentioned an adjoining restaurant, but it is now closed. So I went across to the services to get some picnic food. I would definitely recommend this branch of Travelodge because it was such a great price per night. But, if you need to be right in the heart of the city, it would be less convenient unless you drove in, or got a taxi like I did. I would give it a 4 out of 5.

Overall all it was an enjoyable stay at this Travelodge. The staff were welcoming, friendly and very helpful. The room was clean, the shower excellent, the bed extremely comfortable and the heater/air conditioner was quiet and easy to operate. The breakfast box was basic but good value. The only two negatives are: (1) decoration of the public areas and corridors is desperately needed. Chipped, grubby and flaking paintwork does not give a good image. (2) Illuminated signage outside would be extremely helpful especially on a dark rainy night .

Excellent value for money if you are looking for a clean comfortable place to stay with all the amenities you need at a great price. We got a warm welcome and found our room ideal for a stopover for Exeter airport. It’s also within walking distance of a lovely county pub (the Blueball).

Winding dog up recording outside room just to get a reaction yet never called when there was an issue never aid anything at all and was very very rude

Good location for our purpose with a range of facilities within walking distance clean warm tidy simple room suited our purpose for the cost Staff greeted us with a smile and were efficient and helpful
