We booked our trip well in advance (two years and six days to be precise) and it was absolutely worth the wait. From arrival at Malé Intl where we were met by the hotel rep and taken to the beautiful new sea plane terminal, it was perfect. Honestly couldn’t ask for more. We stayed in Water Villa 311 and it was stunning. Large layout, amazing outlook over the turquoise blue water, large bathroom, jacuzzi on the deck and a day bed. The mini bar in the room was replenished daily with whatever we’d had during the day (soft drinks and alcohol). The bed was large and comfortable and the air conditioning was a godsend because it was unbelievably hot. The bathroom could’ve benefited from air con too, but it’s not a massive deal. We wanted ten days of utter relaxation and that’s what we got. We spent a lot of time at the villa, reading on the deck and watching the world go by, but after a few days we started spending the day at the beach and it was bliss. Lying in the sun, reading or napping, watching the seaplanes come and go inches above our heads. The bar teams kept you well hydrated and were constantly offering cold bottles of water which were greatly appreciated. We were on the island-wide all inclusive so had all food and drinks included, we also had a complimentary 30 minute massage which to this day I regret not upgrading to a full hour. The masseurs were unbelievable, even going out of their way to source and rub Aloe Vera onto my sunburn (typical Brit). If anyone is thinking about visiting the Wellness Village, you should 100% get the longer massage - you won’t regret it. The buggy drivers deserve a mention too. Always friendly and courteous and chatty. It’s such a nice touch to have them zooming round and it made a real difference to whether or not you turned up to the restaurant sweating or not. We ate at the main restaurant every night bar one and we loved it. The variety of food on offer was fantastic, and the themed nights were brilliant. The choices were amazing, always something to go back for seconds - especially the crepes on Italian night! Every team member at the resort was polite and friendly and would greet you with a smile, from the reception team, to the housekeepers to the guys keeping the grounds in lovely condition. But Rohit in the main restaurant was the standout team member. He greeted us by name on day one, took an interest in where we were from, what we were doing that day, whether we were enjoying it. His enthusiasm and passion were amazing and to be met at every mealtime with a big smile and a handshake was genuinely lovely. We both still speak about him when asked about our holiday, such was the amazing level of service afforded by him.
