This must be the best place to stay in Fuvahmulah, as evidenced by the number of travellers at other hotels on the island who moved here while we stayed. It’s walking distance to the beach, and good views over this end of the island from the rooftop (note that the palm trees prevent direct sea view, but you’ll see great sunsets). Note that spa services are not on site, we didn’t take up those. The rooms are super comfortable and well thought out, specific note should be made of the mattress which was the most comfortable in our month of travelling. The food in the restaurant is very good, (surprisingly great burger!) and while being a non-resort island alcohol is not available, there is non-alcoholic beer and excellent mocktails. But the main reason you’d stay here is the service, we were wonderfully looked after by Haam, Khokon and the team, nothing was too much trouble. Unlike most people, we weren’t there to dive with sharks, but have a relaxing holiday in a non-resort setting and do some surfing. Unfortunately, my partner injured their knee on the first day and so we spent more time in the hotel than we expected, luckily it was great! The team can organise board hire and lessons / surf guiding via Aarifiyaalho who were great. It’s worth noting that the local tourism website calls the beach on the corner of the island a beach break, but that’s a bit of a misnomer as it’s a standard coral reef once you are off the sand. While you wouldn’t make it a surf destination over the many world-class waves in the Maldives, there are good options here for beginners and advanced surfers (with guides). Otherwise, enjoy the relaxed ambience, the bats, the sea life and the great hospitality at Ataraxis Fuvahmulah!
