I have just returned from Sans Souci having spent a week with my parents, my husband and our 7 month old son. This was our first holiday abroad with little one and from reading previous reviews etc. this hotel stood out to us as being particularly family friendly. I'll start with the minor negatives which account for the 4 star review rather than 5. Firstly, the speed service in the bar and restaurant was somewhat hit and miss. For the first couple of nights of our stay there was a very large coach party, in addition to a wedding at the hotel and the service suffered for it. We waited a long time between courses, for drinks etc. The second disappointing aspect was the air conditioning in the rooms which was extremely substandard. We had packed nighttime clothing for the baby based on being able to set the temperature of the room ourselves, however the air con was old, and didn't work well at all. Now onto the positives. The staff. Everyone we encountered was friendly, helpful, chatty and couldn't do enough for us and our son. They all doted on him all week and he was truly spoilt! A special mention to Lawrence, who looked after is brilliantly even arranging for our son to be cooked his own omelettes at breakfast, pastina at dinner time and supplying us with some delicious baby food for him. The food. Breakfast was an excellent continental buffet (meats, cheese, fruit, yoghurt, cakes, pastries) as well as scrambled egg, bacon, and cooked to order omelettes. There was a good selection of milks including dairy free options. Dinner was fantastic. Each night consisted of a buffet of antipasti, a first course of pasta/risotto or soup, a second course of meat, fish or veggie option and dessert. Everything we had we enjoyed, favourites being the rigatoni with crustacean, penne arrabiata, squid and veal stew. We didn't sample the wines but we did indulge in a Spritz or two from the bar along with some other cocktails which were all delicious. Cocktails range from €7-10, beers are €5, water is €3 for a large bottle and coffees were around €3. The pool is lovely, though quite chilly and shady at this time of year. The beach is wonderfully clean, the water was lovely and the sand is beautiful. The communal areas in and around the hotel are all well maintained and clean. Most things had shut down for the season whilst we were there however this suited us as the town was quiet. The hotel has bikes which can be used free of charge as well as e-bikes which I believe are €50 per day. We cycled to the supermarket (Conad) for lunch supplies and one day we cycled up to Gradara which is well worth a visit. We all had a fabulous time, and we would definitely recommend this hotel. We may well be back!
