We booked our holiday with Mercury holidays as an All Inclusive lite board basis (meals plus selected local alcoholic drinks). However, we discovered upon arrival that this was essentially Full Board Plus, a single drink with each meal and a few beers a day. Not much use if you don't drink beer. Thankfully our Mercury rep Ananda and the Hotel Manager Thilina were absolutely fabulous and managed to sort us out a deal that work for us. FYI wine is imported so not a local drink. All the staff were absolutely fabulous throughout our stay. The pool ”boy” the bar staff, the waiters, cooks etc, all brilliant. Friendly, attentive, engaging, helpful. Honestly cannot praise them enough. Rooms are basic, but with everything you need. Wardrobe shelves looked worn but they were clean and dust free. The fridge looked rather outdated, but it worked very well and even had a freezer section which we put some bottles of water in. The beds were very comfy, absolutely no complaints about them. Plus our son had a proper bed, not a sofa bed which is always a bonus. There was also very good air con in the room which was a welcome relief from the Sri Lankan heat. Shampoo and body wash are provided, along with bottles of water, tea, coffee and a kettle. Other than the water we didn't have any drinks in the room (except those brought back from the bar!). There is also a TV but we never used it so can't comment on it. The balcony was lovely with a clothes horse to hang your swim wear on. The rooms were cleaned daily. Meals were excellent, for a small restaurant there was a lot of choice each night. We never had a problem finding something we liked for the 10 nights we were there. My son loved the omelet station at breakfast, and the shredded bacon. Personally the deserts were my fav, but they did some amazing mains too. We tried a few local dishes and instantly needed glasses of water, our pallets are not that spice developed! Lunch was a 4 course meal which was far too much for us, particularly with the heat. The staff were fabulous though and let us just have a burger or something lighter. The hotel has two pools plus a small kids pool, which was primarily used for sunbathing in while we were there! There were clean and of a good depth with varying levels. All very warm due to the heat of the country. By the smaller pool were the steps onto the beach, these could do with some work and it felt safer to cut across the diving centre section to get to the beach. Also the brilliant idea of a small area of water to wash your sandy feet in as you come back from the beach, along with a shower. The beach is great, watch the waves depending upon the tides, but there is a clearly defined swimming area and next to it a defined area to explore the coral reef. We saw so many fish, but the delight was the sea turtles, a least a meter long swimming alongside you!! That experience was just amazing. We booked with Mercury Holidays and I have had a great service in the UK and from the two resort reps Ananda and Dexter. We booked the Ella trip with the train ride which I can highly recommend, we loved the trip. Our guide Sanka was wonderful I recommended you request Sanka. Well done Mercury I’m impressed. We arrived after a 7 hour delay in Abu Dhabi and on arrival the reception staff were welcoming and very efficient The room was large with the best sea view ever. The maid was the best. Everyday the room was spotless and he made little bed decorations, towels were changed everyday, excellent job. The waiters and bar staff are good and the food was satisfactory. I loved the pool Aqua and found it was a very good workout. The two pool attenders gave a 7 star service in all the hotels I have ever stayed this was the best. The moment I arrived at the pool a sun bed was selected and the towel laid out for me. The two pools guys deserve a pay rise. We used the Spa and can highly recommend it. Really good massage. Roger, did karaoke/ DJ evenings we really enjoyed, everyone got involved on these nights , they were great fun. Loved the live music in the evening, The beach is lovely golden sand and it’s a very short walk to an area where you can swim safely and it’s here that you can feed the turtles, amazing Overall fantastic value for money Sri Lanka is beautiful the people are lovely and the country has lots to offer.

Hotel is contemporary design just outside the fort area 15m walk great pool overlooking the ocean if it was not so rocky they would have their own beach rooms are very large some with a plunge pool excellent breakfast great choices veg if you prefer the staff are polite and will do anything to help if you like the old colonial style stay in the fort wall's

We had an excellent stay at Ceylon Olive for three nights in August 2023. The warm welcome you feel continues throughout your stay as the staff are amazing that they take care of you with every little help. We were treated like a part of the family from the arrival and the owner Kumudu invited us to have meals together with his family, which was a great experience. The food was amazing with authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. We felt that the hotel was a hidden gem in Galle, with five-minute Tuk Tuk drive away from Unesco world Heritage site of Dutch Fort and stunning Unawatuna beach. Ceylon olive was one of the most beautiful hotels I have stayed at. The pool, outdoor shower, stunning rooms, and peaceful environment were among the best. Thank you so much to Kumudu and everyone at Ceylon Olive for an unforgettable holiday.

The room was spacious enough and comfortable. The room had a beautiful sea view. We opted for breakfast inclusive package and the food was average. The night we had dinner in the same restaurant and we ordered chicken and it wasn’t cooked well. When we informed the same to the staff he was rude to us and was like this is how we cook the chicken. Other than this we had a good stay

I booked a bungalow at Sergeant House for a 2-day stay in July for me and my family during our visit to Sri Lanka. This experience was very different from staying at regular star hotels. Sergeant House is an old mansion that has been renovated to include modern facilities while preserving its original look and feel. The rooms were very spacious. The one I booked had three bedrooms, and the master bedroom featured an outdoor bathroom. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, ensuring that our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. One of the highlights of our stay was the food—it's amazing, and hats off to the chef! I ordered lunch off the menu because I wanted to try authentic Sri Lankan food, and the chef arranged it for us. The taste was so satisfying that I ordered it again for the next day’s lunch. If you want to have a massage, you don’t need to go out as it's available on the property in a very relaxing environment. I did enjoy it and highly recommend giving it a try. Additionally, Sergeant House has a private beach, which, although not beachfront, is easily accessible by crossing the road. We spent a good three hours there, although we didn't swim as the sea was rough. The 24-hour pool was another great feature—we had a night swim, and it was a fantastic experience. Overall, Sergeant House is beautiful and provides a unique and wonderful stay. I will surely be back when I return to Sri Lanka. Thank you for taking care of us during our stay!
