Booked this hotel for its two famous restaurants. It’s turns out that the room is also well-maintained and rather spacious. The soundproofing is poor though, not sure whether it’s for all rooms or because we are assigned a room with connected one.

Check-in process was smooth and we were able to get a room at point of check-in. Concierge was very helpful at all occasions - bringing our luggage all the way to the room and helping to also carry a bulky item that we had delivered to the hotel, to the room. Hotel room was spacious - the toilet even had a dressing table. Hotel room also had a nice river view. Nonetheless, water pressure was rather low and there was a foul smell coming from the pipes. Bed was rather hard and while staff tried to reduce the hardness by layering over a blanket, a comfortable night’s sleep was elusive. Air conditioning control seemed to only work for part of the air conditioner; air conditioner continued to operate even though the air conditioning was off. Was looking forward to using the indoor heated pool but this was closed indefinitely with no notice given at time of booking nor at the front desk. Hotel gym seems to be a shared gym with a fitness club and was therefore very crowded. Spa was value for money. The location is very excellent, close to the metro station, markets and international restaurants. The staff are friendly, the room is good but needs attention to cleanliness. You can see dust in the corners and the bathroom doors are not clean at the top.

The hotel is sitting in the middle of ShaMian Island, an island full of historical culture of British Architecture. The hotel receptionists that hosted us on 12-13 Dec 2024 were all superbly friendly and helpful! I was with my Muslim Colleagues and we had difficulties finding Muslim food but the front desk gentleman recommend us a restaurant which turn out to be a great one! On the next day, I was having problem ordering a taxi transport to Baiyun Airport and the hotel receptionist girl helped to arranged and we were on time to airport! As for the hotel, the ambience made me indulged in the beauty of olden days. The bed was good quality and I had a full night rest. Water temperature are easy to control and hence overally, a very pleasant stay. If I return to Guangzhou in the future, I will surely be back at Victory Hotel ❤️

Excellent night stay at this hotel located in a calm garden just a few minutes walk from the metro and the main Beijing pedestrian street (ca. 10-15mn). Room in the Baiyun building was a nice blend of traditional décor and modern amenities and in good condition. Staff were very kind and welcoming.

I extended my stay twice! I don’t understand why this great hotel has not had more reviews from foreign tourists. Location, cleanliness, service and professionalism is absolutely outstanding. I am now staying in another hotel in Shanghai and I miss the following list of things that I took for granted when I was in the Guangdong Hotel: English speaking staff, English TV channel, fruit platter, coffee sachets, large clean room, large bathroom, the meticulously cleaned room, the ambiance of the foyer area and above all the helpful ladies at the concierge desk! I am from Australia and this is my first trip to China. The Guangdong Hotel staff was a great introduction for me to China. They helped me download a navigation app and they taught me how to use the Chinese metro system. Thank you to the concierge ladies especially Kitty!
