Flour Cask Bay Retreat

John was an excellent host and the feeding of kangaroos and iguana was an absolut highlight for us.The house is a little remote (9 km from main street) but it is an incredible experience to be that cöose wirh the animals! We‘ve loved it!

This property is perfect if you want to be away from everything. Its secluded and relaxing - with great views and plenty of wildlife about. Its completely off grid with solar electricity and water from tanks. The room has everything you need for a short or even and extended stay. Plenty of cooking equipment, a full sized fridge with freezer and tea and coffe with a kettle and microwave. We really enjoyed our 5 days here.

The location is secluded and appears a little remote but is good as it is half way between Penneshaw and Kingscote. We saw more kangaroos on the driveway to the retreat than on the rest of KI. The host lives on the property and is friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoyed our 4 day stay.

wonderful experience from start to finish, Johns transparency 10 out of 10 before arriving to his rural property. Lovely spacious and clean rooms, well equipped with everything you need to cook in. Peace and serenity with breathtaking views from front and rear windows Abundance of wildlife on literally your balcony, koalas 100m from the room. John is a lovely bloke who is only to happy to tell you the best and most efficient way to see the island. Only 28 mins from Kingscote for pub dinner and supermarket Do not be put off by other reviews of a “rough driveway” It’s to protect the wildlife as you drive down his lovely driveway, our rental car a Hyundai i30 was more then enough and it was a very wet visit, just keep your speed down easy. If your staying on KI this accomodation is a must, your loss if you don’t Thanks John!
