Stayed there for 2 nights.The hotel has recently been refurbished and the room was excellent.Ate in the restaurant one night food was o.k.but service was very slow felt sorry for the staff as they spent a lot of time apologizing for the wait.Be aware that if you have booked breakfast it is not buffet style you have to choose from a menu and will not suit a grazer also service was very slow despite having to book a time to eat the night before.

Took my dad on Father’s Day to the George after its recent reopening. Fantastic service and one of the best Sunday lunches I’ve had in a while! Hes a tough man to please but he loved it! Definitely will be visiting again - the question is what to try next on the menu!

Good food but service was a bit slow today, I expect better next time. I visited with my family for a birthday dinner but everything seemed to be slow to come including the bill but the staff were good. Roast potatoes need to be roast potatoes not just boiled potatoes

Booked a family table for 3 for Father’s Day. Really pleased to see open again after a refurb. We’ve been coming here for years. Interior is lovely and the building retains original features whilst being modern. We were seated quickly and given the menu with a nod that pie of the day was pork and Henderson’s. Delicious. Waitress arrived and no pie of the day left. Ordered three Sunday roasts. One asked for no cauliflower cheese and all three arrived with no cauliflower cheese. Asked if we wanted sauce and mustard arrived after we’d eaten most of it. Sunday roasts were very nice, the beef and chicken were excellent. It was quality over quantity but we could have eaten slightly more veg and potato’s. Ordered three desserts, took ages to arrive. One was sent back. Banana cheesecake had a gluten free flapjack base that had gone soggy. Wasn’t aware it was gluten free or not conventional cheese cake base so my bad if I missed that on the menu but either way it was terrible. Asked the waiter to take it off the bill and said he’d ask the manager. Seemed to raise the issue pointlessly as it wasn’t edible, I hadn’t eaten it and I wasn’t paying for it. It was a minor blip in the meal really. Manager came over and said I’d asked to speak to them. I hadn’t, the waiter had escalated it as they couldn’t resolve it. I was really polite I just wasn’t paying £9 for an inedible dessert across six ordered plates. The manager took the dessert off the bill. Overall it was a nice meal in lovely surroundings. It has just re opened and these are fairly minor issues. Staff were great and I was still more than happy to leave a service charge. The problem is that it’s surrounded by many excellent pubs and restaurants. For the price charged and for a fairly straightforward Sunday dinner it wasn’t perfect. We will be back on a regular basis as it’s a great venue and the food was good and the staff very nice.

Managed to book a table on re opening night and so glad we got a table. From entry to exit everything was wonderful, but especially the service. Absolutely impeccable. The food was fabulous. Chicken breast with creole potatoes, Chicken Katsu curry and smoked trout starter. Very, very enjoyable. If we're ever up here again we'll be straight here again. Faultless!

Stayed Friday and Saturday night. Overall, the hotel was good. Decor a little tired in the rooms and hallways. I emailed earlier in the week asking for a quiet room away from the bar area and was told that wasn't a problem. Unfortunately, we were still given a room over the restaurant, which with the music playing was noisy. Also had people dragging tables around in the early hours. The hotel was extremely busy, so finding a place to sit and have a beer was not easy. Breakfast was OK, but hard poached eggs on both days . Would i stay again? Yes, I would, but next time.in the week when it may be a little quieter.

Wow , what a little gem of a hotel , we attended for a work volunteering day in the Peak District national park , followed by an evenings stay with a leadership strategy day the following day . The hotel rooms were unique and quirky , all individually named and designed . Mine was pink and girly with tasteful flamingo theme . The food was absolutely outstanding . Both evening meal and breakfast . We utilised the dragons den meeting room and were catered for over lunch , with smoothies on arrival , biscuits at break time . A beautiful lunch with home made chips and home made scones during the afternoon . The Team could not do enough for us . Beautiful outdoor courtyard , local outdoor lido within a 5 min walk . Perfect for a couples weekend or business . We all agreed an absolute gem of a hotel , we will return and thanks so much for an amazing team effort .

Absolutely amazing place to stay as-well as eat!. Our server was called Katie she was so friendly and helpful. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay here. Rooms were immaculate with amazing facilities. Will definitely be back !!

A fabulous property within the Peak District National Park, serving good food & beer, but also easily accessed from Sheffield too. A short drive from the Ladybower Dam for Dambuster fans & the Snake Pass for those who may enjoy the drive to Glossop & back !
