An interesting accommodation that is part of a partially developed retirement and wellness estate. It’s great for families with young children and elderly to stay - there’s pottery class, wood workshop for kids, and Chinese doctor for adults.
Had dinner there and the FOOD WAS SO GOOD!
The location is not the best especially we don’t drive. But we had the best nice sleep because the room used an air system that cools and warms the room without AC. It’s also very secluded and very very quiet.

PPengguna TetamuThe hotel is located in a village about 15 minutes drive from Nanmen bay. First we were concerned because the village didn't look like a ”tourist friendly” place. But when we had arrived, all our concerns disappeared. The place is very quiet and chill unlike the hussle and bussle of hotels near the beach.
The hotel is a renovated traditional Chinese house. All facilities are new, clean and made with a good taste and attention to the details. What you definitely don't expect to find in the old Chinese village is an electronic toilet that greets you by opening the lid when you coming into the bathroom. 😁
The room was clean, smelled very good and the linings and towels were superb 5 stars level quality.
The breakfast is simple (Chinese traditional) but fulfilling and tasty.
There are complimentary coffee drip bags in each room and also a coffee machine in the bar area.
The owner of this hotel is a professional traveler. He told us a lot about his trips all over the China and abroad and showed his photo works. He also designed ans made some furniture in the hotel by himself.
I helped him to take some photos for the hotel which you can find below 👇 Absolutely recommend this place for staying!
PPengguna TetamuAmazing experience. Manager helped make everything perfect. Hotel courtyard by night is gorgeous. Stone street outside lining narrow river is full of rushing waterfalls and magical at sunset, and after dark. Make sure to eat in hotel restaurant—sitting in the tea shop is best. Delicious tofu, eggplant, and potato “silk” dishes. Best of all is the cauliflower! Also, iced passion fruit-lime juice…I drank two glasses after every run. Manager also will serve endless cups of tea from her father’s tea farm up the mountain. As local as local gets here.
Hekang village only 4-5 km down mountain road, while it’s about 8km up to a famous tulou village. But tulous are everywhere around, including several inside Taxia. Unbelievable place. 3 nights should be the absolute minimum stay.
Oh, and the cats are friendly and at least one wants to meet you!
VVythicaWe stayed in Floral Luxury.1949 Guesthouse for 1 night. We booked Mufan room located on the ground floor as i am travelling with my elderly mom and carrying heavy luggage bags.
The guesthouse butler will contact you the night before your arrival to add them to Wechat for easy communication. They will share their hotel location and offer pick-up service at the train station if required.
Access to Yunshuiyao town is RMB90 perpax and free for those aged above 65 years old. Yunshuiyao is a scenic town area with 3 km long (2 - 3 hours walk). We hired a chinese speaking guide to accompany us to explain the history of Huaiyan building (square tulou), Hegui building (round tulou), and the town area. It cost RMB100.
The guesthouse is located inside Yunshuiyao town, behind the shop houses, in-between waterwheel and 2 trees (named as husband and wife) aged above 670 years old.
When we reached there at 2.30 pm, it was raining. The hotel staff immediately came out with an umbrella to pick us up and assist with the luggage.
The check-in is fast, and the access to the room is by password, which they will share in Wechat. Checkout is also very easy.
The hotel offered free fruits twice a day, afternoon and evening.
The basic bathroom essentials are complete, and they also provide bathrobes. The bed and pillows are very comfortable for a good night sleep. Luckily the aircond can change to warm mode as it was very cold on raining day.
There's a mini kids playground for children's. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast set come with porridge and soya drink. Can topup if needed more. The in-house restaurant provides lunch & dinner with a la carte chinese foods menu.
The sky brightens at 5 am, while the sun rises high at 6.45am. If you are able to wake up early, this is the best time for you to revisit the town and tulou surrounding area for nice photos and cool breeze as only local people around. There's a roadside stall selling super long youtiao (equal to size of 2 youtiao) located near the stone bridge not far from guesthouse.
The whole Yunshuiyao town is covered with natural peebles pathway. Wear suitable shoes as it will be very slippery during the rainy day.

DDarylAs it wasn't a busy time and we were staying for a whole week, on check they upgraded us to the Wooden Loft Family Room, which was quite nice. The room was comfortable with big windows and a nice view across the stream to the forest. It was great to have a washing machine and the washing machine had a dryer function as well so we could still dry our clothes when it was cloudy and cool. The smart toilet was a bit disappointing as the controller wasn't very responsive and the flush was very weak. The tub was nice though the water was not quite hot enough to make it comfortable. Most of all we enjoyed the courtyard area and the breakfast/restaurant area, especially the tea room. They are really well designed and organized and provide a nice space to relax and read and write. The breakfast was quite nice, they provide a serving size based on the number of people, though it was often not enough for us and we normally asked for another serving. They also brought a fruit and yogurt platter to the room in evenings which we also enjoyed. The location is convenient to walk down to the Yuchanglou Tulou in Xiabancun, though part of the way will be on the main road which can be busy with traffic. To get to other areas such as Tianluokeng and Taxiacun it is also possible to walk, though again sometimes you have to walk on the main road as there is no walking path or small side road. There is a tourist bus service that goes between the scenic spots and you can even flag them down in between though you are supposed to have purchased a transportation ticket first and that is not striaghtforward to get if you didn't get it in advance. So, most guests come with their own car or rent one. If arriving by train, while trip.com shows the Yongding and Longshan railway stations as the closest, actually the quickest and most convenient station is the one at Nanjing. Also, because the hotel is within the scenic area you do need to purchase tickets to enter, either online tickets or paper tickets at the gate.
PPengguna TetamuThis homestay is new, nice, clean and comfortable. The service is like a hotel. This homestay is located inside the Yunshuiyao scenic area, and so every guest needs to pay an entrance fee. The homestay can help to arrange a taxi to pick up from 南靖railway station to the homestay with a reasonable price.
If you like beautiful scenery, peaceful and relaxing environment, this is the right place as it’s away from the crowded village centre. It takes about 15 minutes to walk to the village centre, ie the water wheel, old banyan tree, and souvenir shops, through a scenic route along the stream and under the shade of old trees. Trekking the cobblestone path gives you a good workout.
There’s a few tulou (earth buildings) within the scenic area but only 2 are open for public to visit. The others are private. Hegui lou is less than a minute’s walk from the homestay, passing by paddy fields, vegetable gardens and lotus field. You can literally see it from the homestay.
The homestay serves delicious local food. I had dinner twice and enjoyed tasting different dishes. Breakfast is simple and includes local produce, giving you a taste of village life. Also, the homestay serves tea from its own farm. I enjoyed tasting different tea.
Lastly, the staff 小凉is very friendly and good service.

SsiweiyaThe guesthouse is located in one of the Tulou of Tianluokeng cluster, so it's perfect for the travelers who wants to experience the Tulou life, especially at night when all the crowds leave and the village becomes quiet.
The owners, who also have their restaurant in the same Tulou, are kind and friendly, and provided help to navigate the transportation of the area. Bonus point, they welcomed foreign guests!
The rooms are very basic but overall clean, and the bed is quite comfortable! Even if it was cold temperature, the blanket was surprisingly warm and cozy! We initially thought we would be freezing at night, but instead we slept very well.
Of course when lodging in such a traditional countryside dwelling, the facility is really old and could be a bit noisy especially at night if there are many other guests walking around on the upper floors, as there's not much sound proofing.
The bathroom downstairs is shared with many rooms so it's not quite suitable for showering.
Overall was a nice countryside stay, we will always keep Tianluokeng in our hearts.
PPengguna TetamuTotally bowled over by this place
It was a two hour ride from Xiamen and you started realising it was really special when you enter Taxia village.
The resort is an integral part of the village and the local villagers were sunning their harvests next to it.
From the moment you walked into the resort, you could feel that you will be well taken care of.
So much love and dedication was done in building the place, it felt totally seamless with the surrounding traditional houses and yet, the level of luxury is no different from any 5 star hotel.
Each nook and cranny were beautiful and I could spend a whole day just looking them
We stayed in the double room unit which was located across the stream from the reception with views to die for and so much privacy.
Food was hearty and more than enough
Don't miss our on their activities
Would love to go back again
PPengguna TetamuThis is one of the best homestay experiences that I ever had. The homestay is located in Taxia Village which is quieter and less commercialized in Tulou scenic areas that provide lots of privacy for the guests. The room and the building are located just next to the clear water stream. At night, I can even hear the stream of water flowing sounds. The villagers are very friendly to the tourists walking around. They are not pushy about selling any commercial products to tourists which is very contrast to the other commercializedTulou scenic areas. The owner/host is very hospitable, friendly, and helpful. This differentiates from the other hotel staying experience. I also got help on how to get around the Tulou scenic areas and where to get reasonable price restaurants from the host.
PPengguna TetamuThis hotel is beautiful. We stayed for 3 nights in order to visit the Tulou clusters. It’s located in a small scenic village and only 30 minutes drive to the Tulou, the hotel owners were great in arranging a private car for us to take us where we wanted to go. We came from Nanjing railway station and the car picked us up from there. The rooms themselves are beautiful, most of the ground floor ones seemed to have a terrace with a seating area next to the stream. We really enjoyed relaxing on the terrace and listening to the sound of the water. As a westerner, the beds are extremely comfy and not too firm. Each morning we enjoyed a traditional home cooked Chinese breakfast served to us on the hotel terrace. The owners were kind in helping us with laundry and even getting Covid tests done. I would 100% recommend this hotel for a short stay!

SScarletTheWandererWe had a nice stay here and would highly recommend it. The rooms were clean, spacious and newly renovated. The bathroom was super clean, the shower was strong and water was hot. The bed was very comfortable and the owner and his wife were very friendly. Breakfast was tasty traditional Congi with pickled veg, eggs, salty nuts and steamed buns. The location was amazing, it’s right on the river so all your hear is the lovely river! It’s right on the path that leads you to all the major sights in the Yunshuiyao Scenic Area and close and nice walk to each Tulou from here with gorgeous Banyan trees!!! The balcony was really nice to sit and enjoy dinner with incredible views of the river and surrounding Tulous. We had delicious lunch and dinner here. Would recommend pre-booking a driver, as transportation to the train from here is a little tricky if you are not self-driving. Very good price too! Would recommend this gem!
