I can’t say enough good things about my stay at this incredible homestay on Dongshan Island—it’s hands down one of the best accommodation experiences I’ve ever had, and I’m already counting down the days until I can come back. From the breathtaking sea views to the thoughtful, attentive service, every single detail made my trip unforgettable, and I’m so glad I chose this homestay for my island getaway. First and foremost, the seaview here is absolutely stunning, beyond anything I could have imagined. The homestay boasts an unbeatable location with unobstructed views of the endless blue sea, and I spent every spare moment just admiring the ocean, both morning and night. Waking up early to watch the soft golden sunrise glisten over the water, with gentle waves lapping against the shore, was the most peaceful way to start each day. As the sun set, the sky painted itself in warm hues of orange and pink, reflecting beautifully on the sea, creating a romantic and serene scene that took my breath away. Even at night, the quiet glow of the moon on the water and the soft sound of waves made the view just as magical. I took countless beautiful photos during my stay, and every snapshot perfectly captures the mesmerizing beauty of this place—no filter could ever do the real scenery justice. What surprised me most is that the homestay is even more beautiful in person than the online photos. When I booked the room online, the pictures looked lovely, but I didn’t expect the actual space to exceed my expectations by such a large margin. The interior is cozy, clean, and tastefully decorated, with large windows that frame the sea like a living painting. Every corner of the homestay is well-maintained, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The layout is designed to maximize the seaview, so no matter where you are—whether it’s the bedroom, the living area, or the small terrace—you can always feast your eyes on the gorgeous ocean scenery. It’s clear that the host put a lot of love and care into creating this wonderful space. The service here is incredibly thoughtful and attentive, which made my stay even more enjoyable. The host and all the staff are friendly, warm, and always ready to help with any needs or questions I had. They were quick to respond to messages, offered useful tips for exploring Dongshan Island, and went out of their way to make sure I had a comfortable and pleasant stay. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and their genuine hospitality made me feel valued and cared for throughout my trip. Unlike many other accommodations where service feels impersonal, this homestay’s service is heartfelt and dedicated, adding an extra layer of warmth to the entire experience. I’ve traveled to many coastal destinations, but this homestay on Dongshan Island stands out as a true gem. This place was amazing, I didnt want to leave! So first, the room - it's spotless, high tech, spacious, and super comfy. I was upgraded to the tieguanyin room and it is more luxurious than a 5 star hotel! There were 8 speakers, bluetooth sound system, large projection, auto curtains, etc. The hotel grounds is also great, there are many common areas with various tea brewing areas and also board games in case you just wanted to chill in the hotel. The food as others mentioned is really yummy and also well priced. It looks like a family run business and the staff are all super friendly, they will brew you unlimited tea, and when I neede sanitary pads late at night, the daughter gave me her own. Oh and of course they can help arrange a driver for a fair price. And lastly the village is also so lovely. Half the village is tulous of various sizes and ages, with people really living in it. I felt that it was better than yunshuiyao. I stayed 2 nights, but wish I had a spare extra 2 days just to chill here and do nothing. Thank you to the lovely team!!

This homestay is new, nice, clean and comfortable. The service is like a hotel. This homestay is located inside the Yunshuiyao scenic area, and so every guest needs to pay an entrance fee. The homestay can help to arrange a taxi to pick up from 南靖railway station to the homestay with a reasonable price. If you like beautiful scenery, peaceful and relaxing environment, this is the right place as it’s away from the crowded village centre. It takes about 15 minutes to walk to the village centre, ie the water wheel, old banyan tree, and souvenir shops, through a scenic route along the stream and under the shade of old trees. Trekking the cobblestone path gives you a good workout. There’s a few tulou (earth buildings) within the scenic area but only 2 are open for public to visit. The others are private. Hegui lou is less than a minute’s walk from the homestay, passing by paddy fields, vegetable gardens and lotus field. You can literally see it from the homestay. The homestay serves delicious local food. I had dinner twice and enjoyed tasting different dishes. Breakfast is simple and includes local produce, giving you a taste of village life. Also, the homestay serves tea from its own farm. I enjoyed tasting different tea. Lastly, the staff 小凉is very friendly and good service.

As it wasn't a busy time and we were staying for a whole week, on check they upgraded us to the Wooden Loft Family Room, which was quite nice. The room was comfortable with big windows and a nice view across the stream to the forest. It was great to have a washing machine and the washing machine had a dryer function as well so we could still dry our clothes when it was cloudy and cool. The smart toilet was a bit disappointing as the controller wasn't very responsive and the flush was very weak. The tub was nice though the water was not quite hot enough to make it comfortable. Most of all we enjoyed the courtyard area and the breakfast/restaurant area, especially the tea room. They are really well designed and organized and provide a nice space to relax and read and write. The breakfast was quite nice, they provide a serving size based on the number of people, though it was often not enough for us and we normally asked for another serving. They also brought a fruit and yogurt platter to the room in evenings which we also enjoyed. The location is convenient to walk down to the Yuchanglou Tulou in Xiabancun, though part of the way will be on the main road which can be busy with traffic. To get to other areas such as Tianluokeng and Taxiacun it is also possible to walk, though again sometimes you have to walk on the main road as there is no walking path or small side road. There is a tourist bus service that goes between the scenic spots and you can even flag them down in between though you are supposed to have purchased a transportation ticket first and that is not striaghtforward to get if you didn't get it in advance. So, most guests come with their own car or rent one. If arriving by train, while trip.com shows the Yongding and Longshan railway stations as the closest, actually the quickest and most convenient station is the one at Nanjing. Also, because the hotel is within the scenic area you do need to purchase tickets to enter, either online tickets or paper tickets at the gate.

The room wasn’t what we expected - pictures looked better than in person but it was a comfy room. Bed and pillows were very comfy. Breakfast was simple but delicious. The room included water and heat which was needed in the winter. Everything was perfect except the bathrooms smelt bad like sewage occasionally. We think it was the drainage or the pipes so we had to keep the bathroom door closed. Some moulding in there as well and there was an area behind the toilet that just kept leaking so the bathroom was very wet all the time. There could also be improvement from the shower area - door doesn’t close properly so water when showering kept spraying out. The accommodation is inside the village so it was nice to walk around in the morning and see the village wake up. Overall, room was great but bathroom was not. We ate dinner onsite but it was a bit pricey. Food was tasty but texture wasn’t to our liking. Owner was very kind and reheated our breakfast when we came down late. Also gave us a bottle of homemade rice wine when we checked out.

找了很久才找到這種類似酒店風格的民宿，不管是公共區域還是房間老闆都收拾的非常乾淨，還有很多類似隱形眼鏡盒、碘伏、創口貼等等細節老闆都有考慮到！超貼心！！地點離景點和小吃街也很近，我是solo trip所以定最小的房剛剛好，28的行李箱完全攤開也有很大空間，不用擔心空間問題！老闆人也超好😭電動車都租出去了特意把他愛人的電車租給我來騎😭不管是環境還是舒適度都是超滿分，下次再來東山島一定還會住這裏！！！！

乾淨的民宿，裝修很小清新，我們訂的是一樓的大床房，價格實惠，入住體驗好。晚餐是老闆親自下廚，量大新鮮，味道不錯。老闆的父親一直前後忙來忙去，給我們泡茶，提供許多有用的遊覽訊息。是一次很好的住宿經歷。

The hotel is located in a village about 15 minutes drive from Nanmen bay. First we were concerned because the village didn't look like a ”tourist friendly” place. But when we had arrived, all our concerns disappeared. The place is very quiet and chill unlike the hussle and bussle of hotels near the beach. The hotel is a renovated traditional Chinese house. All facilities are new, clean and made with a good taste and attention to the details. What you definitely don't expect to find in the old Chinese village is an electronic toilet that greets you by opening the lid when you coming into the bathroom. 😁 The room was clean, smelled very good and the linings and towels were superb 5 stars level quality. The breakfast is simple (Chinese traditional) but fulfilling and tasty. There are complimentary coffee drip bags in each room and also a coffee machine in the bar area. The owner of this hotel is a professional traveler. He told us a lot about his trips all over the China and abroad and showed his photo works. He also designed ans made some furniture in the hotel by himself. I helped him to take some photos for the hotel which you can find below 👇 Absolutely recommend this place for staying!

We stayed in Floral Luxury.1949 Guesthouse for 1 night. We booked Mufan room located on the ground floor as i am travelling with my elderly mom and carrying heavy luggage bags. The guesthouse butler will contact you the night before your arrival to add them to Wechat for easy communication. They will share their hotel location and offer pick-up service at the train station if required. Access to Yunshuiyao town is RMB90 perpax and free for those aged above 65 years old. Yunshuiyao is a scenic town area with 3 km long (2 - 3 hours walk). We hired a chinese speaking guide to accompany us to explain the history of Huaiyan building (square tulou), Hegui building (round tulou), and the town area. It cost RMB100. The guesthouse is located inside Yunshuiyao town, behind the shop houses, in-between waterwheel and 2 trees (named as husband and wife) aged above 670 years old. When we reached there at 2.30 pm, it was raining. The hotel staff immediately came out with an umbrella to pick us up and assist with the luggage. The check-in is fast, and the access to the room is by password, which they will share in Wechat. Checkout is also very easy. The hotel offered free fruits twice a day, afternoon and evening. The basic bathroom essentials are complete, and they also provide bathrobes. The bed and pillows are very comfortable for a good night sleep. Luckily the aircond can change to warm mode as it was very cold on raining day. There's a mini kids playground for children's. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast set come with porridge and soya drink. Can topup if needed more. The in-house restaurant provides lunch & dinner with a la carte chinese foods menu. The sky brightens at 5 am, while the sun rises high at 6.45am. If you are able to wake up early, this is the best time for you to revisit the town and tulou surrounding area for nice photos and cool breeze as only local people around. There's a roadside stall selling super long youtiao (equal to size of 2 youtiao) located near the stone bridge not far from guesthouse. The whole Yunshuiyao town is covered with natural peebles pathway. Wear suitable shoes as it will be very slippery during the rainy day.
