Went on Caladonian coach and best holiday and experience ever. Mandie (driver) was amazing and did a brilliant job, even went round everyones table on the evening and took time to talk to everyone. Thankyou to Charlie, Lynne, Julie, (front of house). Young Nathan (bar staff) and gorgeous John (waiter) and all the rest of the hotel staff at this hotel. The meals were fantastic, 3 course evening meal with choices. Excellent. Entertainment was great. Will be going back next year definitely. Highly recommend. For the price we paid with Caladonian it was amazing. Ilfracombe is lovely. Lynmouth and Barnstable (excursions) were great.

Grand hotel is only in name :) without the term "grand" it would be much better. The hotel has its years and you can see and smell that the building is already old. The service is very nice and polite, very good breakfasts. Very good location...

First the food Breakfast was 1st class gGREAThelp yourself cereal fruit and cooked breakfast evening meals again first class choice of 3 starters 3 mains and 3 sweets rooms was very clean staff very friendly nothing was to much trouble would definitely go again

Location of this hotel is perfect. This is not a five star hotel so don’t expect a five star room. On the whole you get value for this at £136 for two nights over the bank holiday which did not include breakfast. Yes the rooms are a little dated and could do with a refresh but I found it clean and only used it for sleeping. This is my second visit and for location alone I would return. The one thing that could make sleep quality a whole lot better is to get rid of the lift bell which was constant right up to 1am when people were returning from a night out, it was very loud and my room was right next door to it. (Room 314) All in all a pleasant stay

I was visiting friends in Ilfracombe so booked a hotel for the night. We were not made to feel welcome when we arrived and only got parking by luck which we had to pay £6 for. We were extremely disappointed given we paid £128 for what was a less then budget hotel room. It had been painted but the damp had not been dealt with so just painted over and pealing. There was a plant growing from the moss on the window. The bathroom was such an odd shape it made it difficult to get to the toilet. The room was basic and no biscuits with UHT milk yuk and given how much we paid breakfast was not even included. The bar was not open at all and it smelt a bit mossy. Good location though and beautiful surrounding place.

Spent last week at Dilkhusa hotel with friends. Superb stay. Had hiccup when we got there but fabulous staff sorted it no bother. Old hotel but clean. Creaky floorboards we love old hotels more character. Rooms had all you need in them, tea coffee kettle hairdryer. Double and single bed in room bit cramped but ok. Walk in shower. Meals were superb 3 choices each for starters main course and sweet. Well presented and hot. Our main server was John what a lovely lad a credit to company. He said he wanted guests to want to come back, we do. The rest of dining room staff were absolutely brilliant too. Every member of staff reception, bar, porters couldn’t do enough for us. Bus stop outside hotel short walk into ilfracombe. Plenty little shops bars restaurants. Lovely harbour we sat on harbour wall and ate our crab sandwiches. Weatherspoons with roof top terrace just down from hotel. Prices in bar reasonable. Singers on Tuesday and thursday bingo and quiz on Wednesday. Lovely park over road lovely views. Thanks to all staff. We travelled with Caledonian My friends and I agree it was best holiday we had. Compliments to your chef.

Room rather small bath room tiny. All staff at the hotel wonderful especially on reception . Food was second to none every day Breakfasts great . Good entertainment most nights . We enjoyed our stay .lovely place very welcoming would definitely go back .

Vile. Charged us twice even though states no payment needed to be made at hotel and then unable to refund us 2 days later. Constant excuses from pathetic staff who clearly have no training. Point blank refusing to answer the phone. Rooms are nothing like shown. Single person elevator and poor access through out the whole hotel bar and restaurant not even open. Unable to track payments because there website is based from bangladesh ‘apparently’. Constant excuses and refunds refused. Rooms are apsalutly vile, no water pressure in dirty showers, used cups. Dirty beds no fans available and whole room and bathroom less than a child’s small bedroom. Even the tv remote was covered in dry cribs and sauce. AVOID. Trying to take further for full DOUBLE refund but no was to make contact disputed with bank and will be reported for vile and terrible service, staff rude and hotels run down frankly not even sure why they’re even open. We left a day early and didn’t bother to book another day after in apologetic and vile customer service and vile hotel cleanliness.

Went in July our room was nice .fresh towel every day .meals were lovely got 3 choses of starter main and deserts complement to the chef .staff very polite and help full. bus stop straight outside if you want venture out .we got the no21 and went to Bideford took about an hour meet Owner Charlie he was very nice .entertaining on every night no complains from us

I needed a single room and knew what to expect when I booked this hotel for 2 nights. I have stayed in a number of similar hotels in the UK, often those that were once used by Shearings or similar. I was expecting a tiny room on the top floor but was pleased to be upgraded to a large double room on the 2nd floor at the front with a view of the park. Pluses The room had been painted with a modern colour scheme. The bedding and towels were clean and white. The bed was comfy. The room was 'made up' promptly The shower room had had some refurbishment. There was a new Yale catch on the inside of the door. There was plenty of coffee and milk pods supplied. There were 2 comfy chairs and a table in the bay window, with a view over the park. The TV and remote functioned well. The breakfast was good with an efficient, friendly and hardworking lady in charge. There was a stairlift to access the dining room. Reception staff were friendly. It was generally quiet (see below). The price is competitive. Minuses The building is dated despite improvements. I didn't feel confident in the lift and used the stairs instead. The corridors are dark, hot with worn carpets and large amount of often noisy fire doors. Cleaning was O.K but there were some issues. The shower lacked power, although there was plenty of hot water. There was no extractor in the en-suite. The windows are not clean, particularly in the dining room.- Outside there was plenty of seagull poo and inside there were years of paint splashes near the edges of the frames. The large picture in my room was of the coast beyond Lynmouth, not Ilfracombe.
