Located on the outskirts of Innsbruck the hostel is relatively easy to get to. From the central station you just walk around the corner and catch the number 3 tram (heading for Amras). After a few stops you get off at `Pilippine-welser strabe’ and then walk for about ten minutes. Incidentally, if your flight is a morning one, don’t turn up at the hostel in the hope of an early check-in as there is no receptionist until 14.00. So unless you want to sit outside and twiddle your thumbs you would be better off placing your bags in one of the rail station lockers and having a look around the city. Our room was small and basic (no television etc.) and our allocated bathroom was across the corridor. But it was all high spec and, in keeping with the rest of the hostel, spotlessly clean. The receptionists were polite, knowledgeable and helpful (don’t forget to ask for your welcome card which gives you free travel on the trams and buses within the city). Breakfast was more than sufficient to keep us going for most of the day, although some might feel that the choice on offer a bit limited. Should we ever return to Innsbruck we’d be happy to stay at the Marmota again.

This was the nicest hotel we stayed in, in a month's long trip of Europe in December. We stayed in a junior suite, and our daughter enjoyed the curtained off area her bed was in, providing her with her own private space. The hotel is modern and luxurious inside, while being in a perfect location next to the old town, and still retaining charm and character. The Christmas markets in Innsbruck are right across the road. The breakfast buffet was the best we encountered also and all of the staff were warm, welcoming, helpful and friendly. Our only regret was that we didn't stay here longer, and we would love to come back.

The location of this hotel is pretty good. You walk from the historical center of Innsbruck towards the bridge, you cross it and then go up a little bit. It’s at most 10 minutes by foot. The hotel seems small but nice. There is an issue with the parking though. It’s on the sides of the building and very limited. We warned the staff that we will arrive two hours earlier the check in and they said it was fine, however on that day the front desk person didn’t want to allow us to park (later she did after we mentioned the emails). We were also not given the room even though it was ready (we know because they okayed to leave our luggage there). I understand the rules but I worked in the hospitality business for many years and traveled a lot and it’s a common practice to give the guests their room a bit earlier if it’s ready. Except this not most pleasant check in, our stay was fine. The room was tiny but clean. The breakfast was simple but nice. We thought it was a good value. If you need a budget stay, you can consider this place.

We originally had our main hotel stay booked in Hintertux. We were paying a lot for the hotel and after considering our long journey from Australia, we figured it may make sense to stay close to the airport at Innsbruck for our first day to get some sleep and continue our journey to Hintertux the next morning. We saved quite a bit of money making this decision and made a great choice! We walked to Penz West from the airport with four suitcases and four back packs. It was five minutes on foot and that was in thick snow! The room was way beyond our expectations for a hotel so close to the airport. It was very spacious, beautifully decorated and included breakfast that was simply magnificent. The hotel also had a wellness area including sauna, steam room, cold plunge shower and a gym. The price was extremely reasonable given all it had to offer us. The staff were very helpful and gave us some local tips about the town of Innsbruck (beautiful Christmas markets) and some mountain trips. We were too tired to do the mountain trips but enjoyed Innsbruck. We could easily have spent more time in this beautiful place and would not hesitate to book Penz West again if we are travelling this route. Mr 11 and 12 year old loved this place!

Nous avons passé une nuit dans cet hôtel lors d’un roadtrip. L’hôtel est magnifique et complètement au calme. Les chambres sont très spacieuses, avec une jolie terrasse et une literie très confortable. L’unique petit bémol est l’absence de climatisation mais cela semble être le cas dans bon nombre d’hôtels à la montagne. Il faisait très chaud lors de notre séjour et la nuit n’a donc pas été très reposante … Il y a un grand spa accessible gratuitement ainsi qu’une piscine et il est très agréable de s’y reposer. Le petit déjeuner était tout simplement extraordinaire : une grande variété de produits frais et raffinés. Le restaurant était malheureusement fermé le soir de notre séjour et ce fut un problème pour nous car nous étions en moto et aucun restaurant n’était accessible à une distance de marche raisonnable. C’est alors que Monique, la réceptionniste nous a tout naturellement proposé de prendre sa voiture afin de pouvoir aller manger ! Nous n’en revenions pas d’une telle gentillesse ! Nous n’avons pas osé partir toute une soirée avec sa voiture et l’avons donc empruntée afin d’aller chercher des pizzas à emporter non loin de l’hôtel. Elle nous a ensuite apporté les couverts nécessaires ainsi qu’une bouteille de vin. Nous avons réellement été touchés d’une telle gentillesse et je profite de ce commentaire pour la remercier à nouveau !

nous avons séjourné 2 jours dans l hôtel. Le restaurant nous ayant convaincu de passer une nuit supplémentaire. L hotel en lui même est très joli avec du vitrail et du bois, vraiment ”authentique”. La chambre confortable avec du bois et un style désué tres sympathique. Le gros point faible c'est la salle de bain, qui pour le coup, le côté desue devient péjoratif. Laissant au départ un gros apriori, mais en y regardant de plus près elle était très propre. Les toilettes sont très basses et la douche tres étroite... mais bon on s y fait..conclusion : hotel qui semble hors du temps, l personnels chaleureux et ambiance familiale, restaurant vraiment très agréable avec des plats autrichiens tres bons et copieux, même avec un bébé

PPengguna TetamuWe had even to the Innsbruck hotel 3 years ago when major works were being carried out at the hotel .After recently going back to the hotel I have found it has become better .Our room was perfect breakfast was perfect and the staff very helpful nothing was to much for them .The bar teams were very good and would always serve bar snacks.The reception team were brilliant.They gave us advice ro the places we might like to visit.I will be recommending to all my friends and family .Summery. Very high quality at an affordable price

PPengguna TetamuWir waren eine Nacht zu Gast in diesem Hotel. Stage 12 liegt mitten im Zentrum. An der Rezeption wurden wir sehr freundlich empfangen. Das Zimmer war gemütlich, modern eingerichtet , sauber und sehr ruhig. Zum Frühstück gab es von allem etwas. Besonders freute ich mich über eine große Auswahl an Obst. Wenn wir wieder nach Innsbruck kommen, dann nächtigen wir wieder in dem Hotel, vor allem wegen seiner Lage und Freundlichkeit. An der Stelle noch einen schönen Dank für das Upgrade. Das Zimmer mit Blick auf die Berge war umwerfend.

Wunderschönes Zimmer, unglaublich reichhaltiges Frühstücksbuffet und sensationeller Ausblick aus dem Zimmer über das nächtliche Innsbruck (Zimmer im 7. Stock). Sehr zuvorkommendes Personal. Alles in allem wirklich empfehlenswert!

PPengguna TetamuThis place was TERRIBLE! OK, Buckle Up for my review…. Originally planed to stay here a week but left after a couple days. I was switched between rooms 4 times because the A/C doesn’t work in any of them, yet it works fine in the lobby. I only found out the A/C in the room is regulated to 5min of air con so the hotel can save money. Everyone was complaining because the sun bakes the back of the hotel and the rooms were over 33 degrees C (90F). So all the rooms smell from sweaty body odors and the beds are greasy with sweaty oil. When I brought this to their attention they offered me a rickety old floor fan (at no charge) ???? Seriously? They also list “parking” but all the spaces are always full, when I finally got a spot under the hotel in the garage I noticed all the cars are banged up because the spaces are so small. If you look at the spaces they look like they were once normal size but have been squeezed down to accommodate more cars. Then there’s the food… The food serviced for breakfast is awful and appears to be what’s leftover from the restaurant the day before. It’s so bad it’s hard to describe. I could never complain about any of this to the front desk because they were always 7+ people deep with other guests complaining. Some big guy who I was told was the manager was yelling at some girl who was asking for her money back and was in tears because it was her honeymoon and this place was ruining it. I left for a cheaper hotel downtown with no A/C and no parking, or breakfast and it was 10X better for half the price. Plus, this place claims to be close to all the fun things to do in Innsbruck. That’s another total lie, they are on the outside of town but give their guests a bus ticket. It’s ridiculous. They also tried to charge me for the total stay when I checked out 3 days early for my room never getting below 28C. Luckily, my Credit Card company was on top of it and I got all my money back. There were so many people complaining that I’m skeptical of and positive reviews on TA.

Easily accessible by public transport and by foot from...anywhere in town. We had dinner in the restaurant and had an excellent meal. The breakfast was outstanding. PPengguna TetamuGran bell'hotel, non troppo lontano da Innsbruck, con un ottimo servizio e pulizia. La camera da noi scelta / assegnata, purtroppo non aveva una bella vista, perché dava direttamente sul muro della palazzina centrale. La camera in sé stessa invece era molto bella. Ho trovato molto bella la soluzione del bagno, completamente vetrato (ma schermato). Unico neo è che se avete bisogno di notte, accendendo la luce, si illumina a giorno anche la camera. Ma si può ovviare con l'uso del cellulare. Purtroppo non abbiamo potuto provare la SPA: l'unico giorno che siamo scesi era chiusa, seppure l'orario era quello indicato come aperto. Il personale è decisamente gentile e risponde a tutte la richieste. Comodo anche il parcheggio sotterraneo, anche se non è prenotabile. Ritengo che se si ha una camera con vista montagne, lo spettacolo è fantastico (fermo restando che non ci sia la nebbia, come nei tre giorni di permanenza).

PPengguna TetamuSiamo stati molto bene all’Urban Inn! Appartamento moderno e arredato con gusto. Pulito. Gli spazi non sono ampi ma siamo stati bene! Il check in è on line ma non abbiamo avuto alcuna difficoltà ad entrare. Unico limite, alcuni appartamenti hanno finestre sul retro, il nostro al piano terra dava un po’ sui cassonetti…. Ottima posizione, 10 minuti a piedi dal Tetto D’Oro

PPengguna TetamuI really wanted to like this place, right in the middle of the old town with large rooms by European standards. But when the manager threatens to call the cops and makes your sister-in-law cry based on a booking error, well you can only rate it one star. We were two families. My sister-in-law had a family of 5 and booked one of the rooms on ******* that had 2 double beds and a couch. ******* only let her enter 4 guests, which she figured was a limitation of how ******* worked. In any case, it didn't matter, as my family of 4 had booked a different room with the same number of beds, but which definitely slept 6, so we could take an extra person. Fast forward to check-in. When the manager asked my sister-in-law how many people she had, she said 5, at which point he went ballistic. He started calling her a ”f***ing American”, told her to get out of the hotel, and threatened to call the cops. It took several f-bombs later and a bit of help from the rest of the staff (which seemed dismayed at the manager's behavior), until he let her stay. At this point she was in tears. Completely abhorrent behavior. That manager needs a new profession. OH, and everything the review below said about the heat is 100% true. The building is designed like a greenhouse with a big open atrium with skylights at the top. This traps the heat in the building and sends it to the top floor. If you are unlucky enough to have the top floor rooms like the Stadtturm, you will bake. The highs during our stay topped out at only 80 degrees, but you can't get the heat out of the room with one tiny window. They might even promise you a portable air conditioner, but they don't vent it, so it just spits cold air out the front and hot air out the back, for no net gain. NEVER stay on the top floors in the summer here.

PPengguna TetamuAbbiamo prenotato qui per la posizione estremamente comoda dell’albergo, ed effettivamente ha soddisfatto questa necessità di essere vicini al centro storico. Alla reception ho trovato delle persone molto carine e molto gentili quindi su di loro assolutamente nulla da dire: deliziose. Per il resto l’ho trovato un pochino scarso: le stanze sono anche carine, ma i bagni sono dei piccoli bunker non finestrati. Per quanto riguarda la colazione, non c’era quasi niente. Alcune cose salate, pochissimo dolce (davvero nulla). Ho chiesto del latte senza lattosio alla ragazza della colazione, la quale oltre a non parlare inglese, mi ha portato un latte di soia aperto da due settimane; l’ho comunque trovato un gesto gentile, quindi vabbè. Il pane però, quello era buonissimo devo dire. In generale quindi sconsigliato per la colazione è per l’organizzazione generale (in Italia sarebbe un due stelle, non tre.) Consigliato invece per la posizione e la pulizia!
